RANGAROON - A place where Darjeeling meets Kanchenjunga | Offbeat Darjeeling | Gyalchen Homestay

Rangaroon is situated just at the foothills of the famous Tiger hill from where you can see the gorgeous sunrise. Rangaroon has some of the best tea gardens in the region covering around 90 hectares.
The name “Rangaroon” has its origin in the Lepcha language and means ‘turning of the river’. Infact, it is in this valley that the River Rungdong takes a turn.
Rangaroon is derived from “Rai Gurung”, which is a Nepali caste. There is a substantial population of Rai and Gurung people in the village and its neighbouring area giving rise to the name.
How to reach?
Just before you reach Darjeeling, the Ghum / Jorebungalow is the last hamlet. From here take the eastbound Peshok road and travel for 5 km to reach the 3rd-mile village. From here take the northbound downhill road to reach Rangaroon about 7 km away.
