This just made my entire weekend! I’ve loved this (short-lived) version of the JBB, and to see it/hear it in this quality brings a tear to my eyes. The video looks like it was shot yesterday, and good golly…everyone here was at the top of their game. The sound is stunning as well. Thank you so much for gifting us with these lost gems.

I had read about this band but never heard it. Mick Taylor’s fluidity is captured here for posterity. I wish he could’ve hooked up with people in the fusion scene like Return to Forever, Jean luc Ponty or Brand X.

    Running, jumping, pushing its way
    Mornings nighttime blends into day
Can't find curtains to shut it away
We were alone in the hills of the night
Now the neon dawn lets in the light
And the milkman that nobody knows
    Leaves bottles of tears
At the house full of laughter
    Nobody ever hears
O the grass is burned black
By the ships coming back from the stars, golden stars
    Seas turned to steam
When we boiled the dream of tomorrow, tomorrow
    When it gets light
    Some of them always stay
    She's dressed in white
Till the smoke turns her grey
    Falling, stumbling, feeling its way
    Mornings nighttime moves into day
Can't find warmth to keep it away
Used to be alone on the waves of cloud
Now the flotsam dawn brings in the crowd
And the angel who sits in her car
    Full of desire
But the hoses who came from the town
    Put out her fire

This was excellently performed and presented for YT! Funny - this song has ‘those lyrics’ that harken back to Pete Brown collaborating. Does any body know if Jack wrote this with PBrown?

    • @crimsonking70
      @crimsonking70 11 месяцев назад +1

Actually this is a collaboration with his first wife, Janet Godfrey. She also contributed on the two Cream numbers, Sweet Wine (co-written with Ginger Baker), and Sleepy Time Time (co-written with Jack).
Although I have seen some indications that Morning Glory might have Pete Brown, included, as well.
This album to me stands aligned with the same period of Procol Harum.
That same mix of R&B, rock, classical,
Romantic chord changes with piano and Hammond organ, whilst having
The stellar vocals and lyrics partnership of Gary Brooker and Keith Reid.

      Ampeg Dan Armstrong

    • @tuckintospidey
      @tuckintospidey Год назад +5

Its a Dan Armstrong London Bass, it utilises a sliding pickup that can be moved anywhere from right next to the bridge all the way to the neck pickup, they use a transformer in the circuitry due to the pickup being low impedance in order to boost the signal back up its a hell of a design and definitely an underrated Bass in the many Jack used throughout his career😁

Mick Taylor must have felt crap-Tons of invisible weight lifted off his shoulders as he walked away from the Rolling Stones.
I hear, however, he remained on good terms with Bill W.

@@malcolmspillett8172I think the point is that Taylor didn't have to quit the Stones to noodle with Jack Bruce’s band of misfits. This was a much more unstable situation than anything he experienced with the Stones, hence why it imploded before barely taking off. He could have recorded with Jack, continued appearing as a guest on other fusion records, and remained a Stone.
