I listen to all of these Death interviews, taking it all in. It provides me with immense joy. Yet, it is a melancholic experience. For all of these "lifting veil" conversations, you will never be able to interview the one man who could shed true light on the Death experience, and we will never be able to hear it.
Rick sounds like such a cool dude. I know there's been a lot of drama around Massacre and the bands he's been in since, so I always imagined him as difficult, but dang, he sounds like someone you want to hang out with and just listen to.
In 84 I met Jesse pintado & I remember he was tape trading with Chuck of DEATH I've met once... I just can't believe both good guys are gone.. truly friends with a lot of heart for this DARK ART FORM such as I!!.🤘😈 🤘
I absolutely love Death. Each and every album is perfect for what it is. I had my favorites but over the years I grew to love them all. Being a bass player I appreciate the musicianship involved in ever album regardless of the changing lineup. Steve DiGiorgio and Gene Hogland are possibly the busiest musicians in metal after all these years.R.I.P. CHUCK
I went for a walk yesterday out in the woods, snow and cold wind. I put LEPROSY on my headphones because I wanted to give it an attentive play having heard so many people online say it is " The best death metal album ever". It is inarguably badass. Rick Rozz is cool, he has a lot to be proud of. Great show, thank you.
Rick Rozz is a cool dude. I am in an underground band we are not anyone special, but Rick is helping us out on our next 3 songs with a few badass solos. It is so amazing to be working with a death metal legend that I listened to when I was 12.
Cool interview. Rick's shirt in the 2nd photo (starting at 4:21), though it's partially obscured, I recognize it's the logo of a tiny club in New Rochelle N.Y. called "Streets", where I saw them play on the Leprosy tour. I brought a friend along who had never been to a show with moshing, stagediving, etc., and his jaw was on the floor seeing what was going on. I think he was scared, ha ha! Fun times! To this day, Leprosy is still my favorite Death album.
I never knew why Death left the Dark Angel tour(until now),But hell yeah I got to see the Leprosy tour twice in less than a year it was and still is my fav. album...Got to meet Chuck and sit at his table with a buddy of mine after the show and shot the shit for close to 20 min on the Spiritual Healing tour, Carcass and Pestilence opened.. Also found $50 dollars American on the floor by the video games earlier before Death went on(I'm Canadian so it was a big deal) Leprosy tour I was 16 Spiritual tour I was 18...CHEERS
Voodoocult was a multinational thrash metal supergroup formed in 1993 by German Phillip Boa, vocalist of the alternative band Phillip Boa & The Voodooclub. The project was especially notable for the reputation of the participating musicians, such as Jim Martin (of Faith No More), Chuck Schuldiner (of Death), Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo, and Mille Petrozza of Kreator. The band released two albums and disbanded in 1996 after the release of the second album and a tour.
Rik Rozz good to hear your voice once again. It's been a long time since we hung out. Anyways it's Dragon aka Walt /Michael Angelo's guitar tech from The NITRO days out in Florida. The Station, The Plus 3, and my favorite Rachel's. Haha. Anyways glad your good bro. Peace....

@@jonmoss6290 The only wisdom I have is just have fun in life with what ever you do. And if you play guitar and want to be the best shredder you can be I suggest getting Michael Angelo's instructional video SPEED KILLS aka The Shredder Bible. I was Michael's tech during the making of SPEED KILLS. It's been about 31 years since I moved to Orlando for the recording of Nitro's 2nd album H.W.D.W.S. During those 6 months in Orlando is when I met Rik & Kam. They were waiting for their debut release of MASSACRE on Earache Records. Thanks for that comment I will be sure to share it with Michael & Jim. Peace out Jon Moss....
Leprosy is still the greatest pure and true death metal album ever to me. I love them all but as far as the original concept of death metal goes that is the definitive statement. Rick’s style fit in perfectly at the time.
Listening to this interview makes me rethink leprosy guitar parts. Because maybe it was rick not chuck that hooked me? wish they would have broke down who wrote what riff.
The ole towel over the boom box recording!!! Kid of today will never realize how good of a recording you could get for doing that. I would put tape on the floor around the boom box so I could put it in the same spot every time!!! Wow....those were the days!!
@@intothecombine6169 when they talk about the Euro tour at least. At least it sounded to me like it was edited. I know it was the main source, in addition to other things, to people saying that Chuck was kind of a dick. Kinda seemed like too much of a coincidence, if I’m right at all.
@@luciferdzhugashvili ah no man definitely didn’t edit anything out there! Only things I usually edit is if there’s super long silences, issues with the recording/connection or stuff like that. We definitely covered those same issues with that euro tour in the interviews with the other people I spoke with (especially Terry)🤘🤘
Kam and Mark 'Barney' Greenway sounded VERY similar back in the day, that's where the name connection happens. Mark would always mention his 'Kam Lee' vocal wipeouts!
I feel like when you are getting close the truth about his death or could dig some deeper you end the conversation and go unto some tour stuff no one really wants to hear. Sucks a bit.
I met chuck on the sound of perseverance tour in Hollywood I'm front row left on the death live in LA dvd stayed at the same hotel as them right on sunset boulevard and we were partying when 230 3 in the morning bass player for death knocked on our door wanting to party with us turned him onto 99 bananas 99 proof!

I love Rick's honesty about everything much respect! Cracks me up Rick calls Chuck Charlie sometimes lol

This is so badass. As a vocalist Evil Chuck has always been an inspiration. Rick Rozz You Rock \m/
Loved his playing on that album - a good counterweight to Chuck's more grandiose style.
Awesome interview man, Rick seems like such a cool dude. A lot of maturity and perspective there.
Thanks man I agree
What a great interview! You just got a new subscriber.

thanks for these interviews
Those jeans look painful.

Why are you looking at their crotches for?
love death, obituary, entombed... all great stuff.
Thank you for the upload.
This was awesome. Like National Archives of Metal level shit.
Lol damn we really do need the national archives of metal
fantastic interview. keep it going.
Great job, thank you 🙏😎
I remember tape trading and corresponding with Rick. I got a letter saying he joined Death.
What happened on the Dark Angel tour?
Listening to this interview makes me rethink leprosy guitar parts. Because maybe it was rick not chuck that hooked me? wish they would have broke down who wrote what riff.
Same! I know that Chuck wrote the whole thing to pull the plug and leprosy. And Rick wrote the whole thing of primitive ways!
What the opening and closing tune?
When you went to rent movie's on vhs in the 80's.There were tons of horror movies on the shelves. They most have loved it.
WOW! Sounds like a very good bloke.
Seen this man yesterday. He is indeed cool guy.
Awesome for him to mention raven
Frolic Through the Park...Death Angel
Rick sounds like a really cool guy.
💯 Respect ✌️
Chuck and other Death lead guitar players: NO!!! YOU CAN’T JUST DO THE SAME SOLO ON EVERY SONG?!?!
Rick: haha whammy go wawawawaWEEEE!!!
Solid metal death love it...
Control Denied is Great....
Just wait ill the interview is done,For some reason if you hit the link it goes right to the album...IDK why but fuck it...
Control Denied rules! RIP, Tim Aymar.
The term ‘death metal’ was used rarely used in the 80’s…. Apart from the Noise records compilation and the Onslaught song
Possessed coined it as well as Mantas 'Death by metal"
Is Rick referring to Kam Lee as Barney?! Lol
Yeah that's his actual name
The ole towel over the boom box recording!!! Kid of today will never realize how good of a recording you could get for doing that.

Chuck in the Bestial Devastation shirt...Sepultura was the shit in the 80s, too bad they went Pantera and KoRn later...
Cool.
Who's Barny?
Kam Lee. He was the vocalist for pre-death band Mantas and the Massacre vocalist

Chuck shudighner and died from cancer and God Adonai bless his heart and soul
Yeah sorry, no front but Rick Rozz and other talked a lot of shit about Chuck in the past in interviews after quiting the band. Not interested.
