So I was having a similar issue. Ensured eq on phone off and bike eq level as I have a dsp but still felt if could be better. So started scouring as I use Spotify as my source material. Ensured eq was off in Spotify but there’s a few other settings and found that turning off “audio normalization” made a HUGE difference. Where I would be on 9 or 10 I’m now at a 7-8 for the same volume output and going to 9-10 is now insane!

Thanks Jay! I had sound check turned on thinking it would keep me from having to adjust the volume up/down for each song while at work (admittedly, I have not looked up exactly what it's meant or supposed to do).

Jay you did it, I've had your 600 watt amp and speakers and for two years I never heard the difference from stock radio no amp vs stock radio with amp. I have consulted with you guys I believe 3 times, then I just saw this video made some changes and I sure can hear the difference it got maybe 15% louder. I never thought about the eq settings in the phone. Thanks

This only applies to music in your Apple Music library. Those settings don’t change anything in an app like Pandora.
They change every app in your phone, the phones eq is housed in the music app settings

This does work. Volume was much better on my Stock 2024 road glide. I did upgrade the speakers to your Hertz, before I tried this. Much louder but still needs a proper amp solution . Thanks Jay

This should be done before tuning a amp or DSP or both depending on your setup. Why? Because you could potentially add distortion to a signal that is already distorted .
Yes we tune our amplifiers with these settings correct but if the customers phone is not correctly set they don’t have as much volume as we had in testing
By turn this off I got doble of music 🎼 volume I run 6 Hertz spl show Neo and the presión power subwoofers and my sound is amazing and louder than before thanks to this change on the settings thanks again and Jay you are amazing and always give us good information thanks for making this videos to help all the riding community god bless you

Can't cut my EQ off in my S22 only can do custom
I have an S21.....mine has a "normal" option....I think I heard Jay say if you can't turn it off, turn it to normal.

@volunteeraudio Although, I set mine to normal this weekend (from custom) and I think it has too much highs.....haven't turned it all the way up to 50 on normal.... sounds like it is just barely starting to get some distortion before volume gets to 50, depending on the song. Some songs are screechingly loud.....on custom it was pretty loud but I could turn it up to 50 with no distortion.

Jay I turned off sound check and equalizer a couple weeks ago on my phone and it made a world a difference good video showing. I was trying to tell a friend of mine yesterday to check her phone, but she has a android phone and I did not know or understand how to find it under the android phone so I forward this video to her so that way she can take care of that on her phone.

We start with radio set flat, going up on bass beyond mid point causes distortion, if you want more bass try turning the treble down to keep a cleaner output

It likely will not activate when using a Bluetooth radio

I have an Android newbie question: Would turning all the equalizer settings (it has 63 Hz, 125Hz, etc up to 16KHz) up to +10dB across the board be beneficial or should I just set it to 0dB across the board? Mine was already at ), but I did find some settings to change in Spotify as you mentioned.
Turning eq to normal is the same as maxing all the bands out
@@volunteeraudio Ok sounds good. Thanks for the response. Hopefully the changes in Spotify make a nice difference. I had "Normalize Volume" turned on in Spotify and it says that that sets the volume to be the same for all tracks. I've just turned that off for now, but I might also try setting it to "Loud" if some tracks end up being too quiet. Thanks again.

I have an Android with Spotify but I'm unable to find any where to turn off the eq. It was there a few years ago but not anymore. Can anyone help?
Some google phones do not have an equalizer
In Spotify go to profile, settings, playback and you’ll see options. Make sure EQ is off and turn off audio normalization. Couldn’t figure out why I wasn’t getting the volume I thought I should get but I had that on by default and turned it off and tested and it makes a huge difference.

Could not find an equalizer on Google Pixel 8 Pro, has anyone find it?

Yes some google phones have no equalizer but many apps do in the settings
So I am very confused. My Samsung s10 has no off setting. I just have always had it at normal but you said that maxes out all the bands. So should it be left at normal or what do you suggest? I have all hertz stuff waiting on the v2 and i sure hope i get much cleaning sound. The boom 6.5 radio is terrible. If it turn the eq to normal it puts all bands at 0db not max. Thats where I am confused.
Set it to flat. That way, there is no signal from the EQ.

I fixed my phone then set up my stereo to my phone then my wife hooked her phone to my bike and hers was about half as loud as mine
Fix her phone settings and you should be good to go
