M40X's are better then the M50X and have a flatter frequency response. Most people would agree that the M50X's are unbearable to listen to when it comes to music. (M70X's are even worse) If you are thinking of buying a M50X I'll just let you know that you can get much better and more comfortable headphones for the money.
Definitely get the M40X. Bluetooth degrades sound quality greatly and it should never be used unless you really need wireless headphones. Also if you are getting M40X's it's worth replacing the stock pads with the Brainwavz memory foam angled pads once you get them. www.amazon.com/Brainwavz-Angled-Memory-Foam-Earpad/dp/B00ZY8PGJI
very good survey of some excellent headphones. I have the M100 and I think they are very muddy and boomy out of the box, but respond very well to equalization
How are the M40x's excluded from this list? I have the m50x's and wanted something closed with good low end and decent soundstage. Surprisingly, I found this in the m40x's … the m50's are so narrow it can be fatiguing while the m40's are relaxed and the sound stage … the soundstage. I can't go back to the closed narrow m50's.
How come you guys don't review higher end headphones like the Sony MDR1A or Audio technica MSR7? I think average consumers will appreciate those too. I also saw the super expensive but intriguing ATH-DSR9BT in the store today, although it's not available to buy yet.
nuigurumisama probably because there are videos out there comparing high end headphones and most people can't afford or don't care to spend $800 for a pair of headphones.
he has an almost 900 dollar pair of headphones in this for when money doesnt matter in the decision. so obviously he thinks that the audeze beats the ones you mentioned
Truthfully people who buy those headphones aren't even audiophiles or passionate listeners with OGG and Flac etc with personaly DAC and Amps/EQ just reich people buying headphones because there expensive!
The MDR1As and MSR7s are both under $300, which I think is a reasonable price considering how much many people spend on a certain brand of garbage headphones. and I don't consider them to be audiophile headphones either. I'm no audiophile, so I have no interest in headphones that require a dedicated DAC to use, or open-back headphones for that matter. I just want really good pairs of closed back headphones (either wired or wireless) that work with regular mobile devices, and aren't insanely expensive.
the first one he mentioned was the sennheiser momentum 2.0. I'm also shocked he didn't mention beyerdynamic. I mean, they have several much better headphones than the Audio technica MH50X for the same price tag.
The Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro Plus are pretty good for $140. Cons are they don't fold down or flat and they are a little bit too big. Other than that, they are great. They have manual bass ports that can be adjusted easily to turn up or down the bass (something I have never seen on any other pairs of headphones) which I use all the time. They sound amazing for the price and have a similar sound signature to the ATH-M50x's. They come with 2 cables (one with a button and mic and one without) and most of the parts can be switched out to change look and comfort. They are very comfortable, although personally I think the clamping force is a little too tight, but this lets them have pretty good passive noise canceling. I would definitely recommend them.
Truly impressive how you guys can talk about great headphones and what a great "investment" it is without talking about the sound and feel them. Please bem more specific about the sound quality, instead of just "good", "great" and "amazing". Love your channel and appreciate your reviews 😉
The HOUSE OF MARLEY DESTINY TTR Active Noise Cancelling Over Ear Headphones are amazing quality for the money - superb build quality - ECO Friendly and beautifully designed - I can not fault these for the price and believe they should be in the top cans of 2016
can you guys please do a review or include the symphonized wraith 2.0 in a video like this or a separate video? they are an amazing pair of headphones for an amazing price. keep making great headphones!
Nice list Adam, I agree with almost everything said. I am surprised though that the Sennheiser PXC550 are not on the list. They compete very well with the Bose QC35 and the Sony MDR 1000x. Are you guys planning to review them soon? and possibly add them to the list?
Great news - Thanks for responding - and so quickly as well! The fact that the Sennheiser PXC550's didn't make the video does say something though :-). Looking forward to the video!
I have the M50x do to heavy use the ear cups are torn and worn out is it possible to replace them? I've been looking and looking everything points to no but before I buy a new pair I just want to make sure. I've had them for over a year.
JoakillerLOL If you're looking fot something bassier with some solid sound clarity, I would recommend something from the Audio Technica Solid Bass line up. I recently got some ATH-WS99's and they sound amazing with my EDM and the like, and the sound clarity on highs and mids is still good oved the punchy bass. The got discontinued so now is the best time to get a pair for an absolute steal on Amazon.
+1 for that suggestion...will the sound guys be doing a review of the Bluedio's maybe anytime soon www.amazon.com/Bluedio-Plus-Wireless-Bluetooth-Headphones/dp/B01DVW643A/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&qid=1477684008&sr=8-15&keywords=bluedio&linkCode=sl1&tag=socialtech109-20&linkId=e14247df22a945053cdcdb393069e58a
would you get the sony MDR100ABN on sale at amazon right now for $199 or pay up for the MDR1000X or the plantronics ones that you mention at the end of the video?
just bought pionner ddj sb2 as I want to learn djing, which headphones should I buy that would that are built for djing and have a good quality sound to mix. tracks.
Why would you get the cheap samsons when you can get the ath m20s? Or 30s, or one of the best, the m40s (For those who don't like the bulky and sound profile of the m50s) I use the m50s
Thanks for the upload! It would have been easier to follow....if you separated the wired and bluetooth headphones into 2 different video's. Personally I am not interested in the bluetooth headphones.
Im about to buy the Sennheiser RS 170 because i love wireless (Im a guitar player, and i hate when guitar cable messes up with the headphones one). I have heard from tons of people that m50x are the best out there. But i hate the fact that many people say these headphones arent for music. They sound too flat, and they're for profs or people who edit a lot. I just want a better quality,i dont know if bass is what i need. Suggestions?
really interested in the CB3 Hush, just want a good wireless headset with ANC and sound. I dont want to spend over 300$ on the new bose. Thx for this, never even heard of this brand.
Reb If you haven't bought them already, just wanted to tell you some stuff. I got this the past summer and it stopped turning on after a few months. So basically I couldn't use the bluetooth function. It also stopped charging and after a few weeks, the noise cancelling functions stopped as well. So basically it's just a wired headphone now. I bought it on amazon and I had it past like 60 days or something so I couldn't even return it.
Thats stupid, you have a 5 years warranty from them... I called the company and they gave me a new pair because the previous ones I had broke after 1 year. Stop spreading bullshit...
please add best price and place to buy and a tag on screen of each headphone as you talk so I know wich one you are talking about. also always tell us the absolute best sounding headphone period wired and Bluetooth at any price. and what are their equals?
You guys should review the new skull candy crushers wireless. I have the wired and am curious if they are worth the upgrade. Ive heard they are but from only like 3 people lol
I've just bought Bose Soundtrue II (Android) for just 100€ and I think they are amazing for the price, also comparing them with the 50x's they sound much better. What do you think about that headphones? review?
I'm thinking about getting the audio technica ath-m30x as a Christmas present so... do you think it's worth it? also I'm trying to enhance my RUclips experience and I will use it with my new 3ds
Yes, that will be a nice introduction into good audio. The studio monitor headphones present a good bang for your buck as they need to sound natural and detailed and need to be reliable and durable for working in a studio. The M30x will be a decent entry into good sound.
Sound guys can you do a review on the new skullcandy crushers wireless..skullcandy seem to have really improved from the crushers wired just wondering to see if they are a smart investment...thanks for any feedback
I'd actually say that the M40x is a better choice than the M50x - the internals are almost the same quality, the sound is more balanced, and they're much cheaper. A lot of people online say that the M40x is the best bang for your buck by far.
Oscar Jeans Sorry, but I actually don't know, man. My comment was based on things I'd read and watched on the internet about the two headphones. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten a chance to use either pair of headphones yet.
I'm looking to buy a good pair of over-ear headphones for in and around €100. I would stretch my budget to around €140 if the headphones were worth it. Any recommendations? My preference is over-ear, preferably wired, not too chunky as I want to be able to use them on the go, and durability, as my last ones snapped.
how good is the noise cancelation on the cb3 hush? I'm asking because I take the bus for about 1.5 hours in total ever day so I want good noise cancelling headphones but don't wanna spend too much. or would the athm50x's still block out enough sound on the bus to be good considering they don't have active noise canceling?
So i have read alot about m50x vs m40x. there is obviously a decent price differential but whats not so obvious is where thay money is saved. Is the construction lesser on the 40x's? if so is it significantly worse? i tend to be a bit hard on my headphones so solid contruction is nessasary...
Just saying if you want a good pair of "entry level" headphones, check out the HiFiMan HE-350s... You can get them through Massdrop (not sure if they are exclusives)
abdul reeyas 400I for sure. The M50's are not that good imo. I have them and compared to the shure 840 they are kinda crap for the price. Also if you get 400's I would advice getting HM5 pads.
TBH I dont like the Momentum 2 because the big cushioning is pressing against my ears on the top and bottom and it seems so stiff. Generally the Momentum 2 are heavy in comparison to the PCX 550 or QC35
I'm having trouble following the prices. For example, when I click on the link for the CB3 Hush, I get an Amazon Japan page (I am in Japan) with a price tag of 55,700 yen. That's over $500, but the video host says they run less than $100. I'm so confused!
M50x, Sony mdr-1000x, or skullcandy crusher? I have both the QC35 and the V-Moda crossfade wireless and both are great. I just like collecting headphones and using them. I'm also looking for overall sound.
Chupick Nicolas The only downside to getting the MSR7 in my opinion would be the lack of colors since there's only two, black and gun metal. But I'll see if I can get my hands on a demo to test them out first before I say anything else. Thanks dude!
Miguel Nunez how's the bass on the crossfades?heard they have a "lot of bass".. how would u compare the sound to the beats by dre .. beats have a lot of bass but is it more balanced than the beats? how would u describe it. thanks
rolndice the crossfade is much better than beats..v moda has some of the clearest sound out there..and it has very nice bass and it's not overwhelming..just the right amount..v moda over beats any day
bose soundsport wireless are the best in my opinion i own the OG Jaybirds and they were horrible in comfort and would fall out easily when i was running...you should test out the bose soundsport wireless see how they feel plus you have 30 days to return them if you dont like them...if you want comfort and great sounding earbuds i would go with bose...jaybirds sound great if you have the pefect seal but you will always have to jam them in
I'm nearly to buy the Sehn. HD-25 (old but gold) for 150$. which do you choose as alternative from this video? ( with the same or best quality at the same/lowest budget)
Best Headphones for money... Sennheiser Orpheus...
Kyriakos Agathangelidis the $50,000 ones? Lol *_aGrEeD_*
Ordered me a pair of those Plantronics Backbeat Pro 2 last night! cannot wait to get them!
Phillips SHP9500, check them out. also m40x > m50x.

the m40x are better value than the m50x
why? i planned to buy m40x
+Shaun Timbo they're a lot cheaper and have a more flat reponse

I love the bose qc35. they are so goooooddd, I have tried them, but don`t have one for my one, shaameeee.
Andie Eban ...
Bullshit. The sound quality is good.
Andie Eban bullshit
I just LOVE my Qc35!
they are alright but like beats you pay for the name. and i dont mean bose suck like beats do lol, bose is good stuff. but they are still overpriced.
?Is it worth the upgrade from ATH-M50X to V-MODA Crossfade M-100
Sash s do it
Sash s the m40xs are better than the 50s
I would say so yeah
noice one Adam. really enjoyed this video.
thanks :D

where is philips shp9500? I myself own a m50x and they are not that great like almost all youtube said.
Not a single mention of Sennheiser or AKG not to mention Beyer, Denon, Grado or Shure.
the first one he mentioned was the sennheiser momentum 2.0.
I'm also shocked he didn't mention beyerdynamic. I mean, they have several much better headphones than the Audio technica MH50X for the same price tag.
i thought the beyers were more than 150 bucks? but yea he missed out on akg stuff
Thanks for the video, was very helpful . Would be even better if you put the actual names of the headphones when they are shown.
I'd recommend beyerdynamic dt 770 pro 32 ohm or 80 ohm headphones over the m50x headphones
that's a no-brainer... I know the M50X sound... not very difficult to surpass their sound-quality
cable...
The Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro Plus are pretty good for $140. Cons are they don't fold down or flat and they are a little bit too big. Other than that, they are great. Bose Q35... most comfortable headphones ever hands down period. Most important to me and the sound great.
How do the CB3 Hush compare directly to the Plantronics back beat 2?
Ive had beats studio 1.0s since like 2013 and are the most comfortable and best looking and sounding headphones I've ever used
What about the pxc 550 by sennheiser I just picked them up but I was wondering how they compare to the mdr-1000x. Are these better?
I am thinking to buy the sony mdr 100 abn, are they worth it? I could buy them new for 200 €.
The HOUSE OF MARLEY DESTINY TTR Active Noise Cancelling Over Ear Headphones are amazing quality for the money - superb build quality - ECO Friendly and beautifully designed - I can not fault these for the price and believe they should be in the top cans of 2016
just what i was searching for
can you guys please do a review or include the symphonized wraith 2.0 in a video like this or a separate video? they are an amazing pair of headphones for an amazing price. keep making great headphones!
Shp9500 ,clear and natural sound.....and it don't need a amp...best budget choice for open back headphones!!
MDR-1000x is the best..... nobody can beat it.....
crap durability
you do great work mate, thanks. Slick and informative
Nice list Adam, I agree with almost everything said. I am surprised though that the Sennheiser PXC550 are not on the list. They compete very well with the Bose QC35 and the Sony MDR 1000x. Are you guys planning to review them soon? and possibly add them to the list?
Yeah they do I just didn't want this list to be all bluetooth ANC headphones..there's another video for that coming =p lol
Great news - Thanks for responding - and so quickly as well! The fact that the Sennheiser PXC550's didn't make the video does say something though :-). Looking forward to the video!
My favourite are the sennheiser hd8 and hd7 dj they have exactly the sound signature i prefer strong controlled bass with clear mids and highs
Have you reviewed the Monoprice Monolith M560 planar headphones? If so why didn't they make the list?
I have the M50x do to heavy use the ear cups are torn and worn out is it possible to replace them? I've been looking and looking everything points to no but before I buy a new pair I just want to make sure. I've had them for over a year.
Best comfortable headphones for a small metalhead? i listen to music at 320kbps

Odd. I never expected them to be more expensive in the US. I got them for $187 CAD on amazon.ca.

In Canada. Price went up a bit. Dunno if you're Canadian or not. Lul.

Portronics Harmonics 202 or Crossbeats Raga wireless bluetooth headsets? Which you prefer best?
Getting m50 x tomorrow 😊 can't wait🤘🏻
between the Sony MDR-DS6500 or seenheiser rs175?
the'd use for watching movies.
or another model the same price range?
How bad is the sound leakage on the MDR 1000x headphones?
Take a look at the b&o beoplay h9, it is my favorite headphone
Which one would you pick between the MDR-1000x and the QC-35?
Finally someone who didn't put Beats up at the top of the list!
Sound guys, what's your opinion about the Bluedio UFO plus??, you should give them a try ;D you'll not be dissapointed..
Those are WAYY to good! They shoudn't be in this list, they are just WAYY to gud
+1 for that suggestion...will the sound guys be doing a review of the Bluedio's maybe anytime soon

would you get the sony MDR100ABN on sale at amazon right now for $199 or pay up for the MDR1000X or the plantronics ones that you mention at the end of the video?
The Sony MDR-1A are currently in sale (cheaper than the Audio Technica). Do you recommend these headphones? Or are the Audio-T. still better?
watching this on my classic tan and blue audio technica 🎧 👍 Kitsound arena immerse are pretty good especially when sold for 32 quid.
fantastic video, subbed!~
just bought pionner ddj sb2 as I want to learn djing, which headphones should I buy that would that are built for djing and have a good quality sound to mix. tracks.
Why would you get the cheap samsons when you can get the ath m20s? Or 30s, or one of the best, the m40s
(For those who don't like the bulky and sound profile of the m50s)
I use the m50s
Thanks for the upload!
It would have been easier to follow....if you separated the wired and bluetooth headphones into 2 different video's.
Personally I am not interested in the bluetooth headphones.
Im about to buy the Sennheiser RS 170 because i love wireless (Im a guitar player, and i hate when guitar cable messes up with the headphones one). I have heard from tons of people that m50x are the best out there. But i hate the fact that many people say these headphones arent for music. beats all the way!!!
kidding
thinking to get the bose qc 35
Obaid Khan why not mdr 1000x? I'm just curious
George Rickett those are really good as well but bose has the best noise cancelling and i love the comfort
Obaid Khan I heard a lot of reviewers saying they were equal in noise canceling. Some said the Sony's were better. Don't remember about comfort.
George Rickett oh ok I personally tried the bose ones and they were amazing need to check out the mdrs in stores
Obaid Khan watch lachlonlikesathing's video on them both
I know right, them sweet beats are the best (joking)
You guys should review the new skull candy crushers wireless. I have the wired and am curious if they are worth the upgrade. Ive heard they are but from only like 3 people lol
Which one is better, the Momentum 2.0 wireless or QC35?
can you guys do a full review of the cb3 hush I'm thinking of buying them but want a review because there are none out there
I've just bought Bose Soundtrue II (Android) for just 100€ and I think they are amazing for the price, also comparing them with the 50x's they sound much better.
What do you think about that headphones? review?
I'm thinking about getting the audio technica ath-m30x as a Christmas present so... do you think it's worth it? also I'm trying to enhance my RUclips experience and I will use it with my new 3ds
and that'll mean I'll be upgrading from the 15$ yurbuds earphones my brother randomly bought me
Yes, that will be a nice introduction into good audio. The studio monitor headphones present a good bang for your buck as they need to sound natural and detailed and need to be reliable and durable for working in a studio. The M30x will be a decent entry into good sound.
get the m40's. They are just as good at their $160 m50x's.
Lol you'll love it i just got m40x if you can spend lilttle more go for m40x or else m30x is also good !
I tried the 40's and they're much more funner than the 50's. Personally my go-to pair are the thx00's but i keep coming back to the 40's.
A lot of people online say that the M40x is the best bang for your buck by far.

are the, sony xb950bt a good option if i want wireless headphones with a lot of bass, nfc and wich are very comfortable?
Are the Hushes any good, like for real?
Can you review MDR-XB950N1?

When is the best earphones of 2016 video coming?
What should I get if I want to a good pair of wired headphones for using with Vox amplugs for guitar?
you should do a video on
SONY xb950bt extra bass
i just love it\
Just saying if you want a good pair of "entry level" headphones, check out the HiFiMan HE-350s... You can get them through Massdrop (not sure if they are exclusives)

abdul reeyas Hifiman Maybe, but the Sony and Audio Technicas don't stand a chance.
- HD 598 user
abdul reeyas 400I for sure. The M50's are not that good imo. I have them and compared to the shure 840 they are kinda crap for the price. Also if you get 400's I would advice getting HM5 pads.
abdul reeyas If you are looking for a closed, easy to drive pair you should take a look at the AKG K553.
ya but im pretty annoyed by small noises like fan disturbing audio in 598 so im stuck between 950 and m50x
ya but portability and wireless are also welcome additon in my choice
always surprised when sennheiser amperiors aren't included any of these videos
TBH I dont like the Momentum 2 because the big cushioning is pressing against my ears on the top and bottom and it seems so stiff. Generally the Momentum 2 are heavy in comparison to the PCX 550 or QC35
Where are dem Fostex T50RP mk3s?????
Check out status audio cb-1 they compete with the ath m50x but at a lower price point
I have Skullcandy Grind Wireless and not a single complaint. Good list nonetheless.
Don't get the M50x. They're not that good. Get the Audio Technica MSR7 instead.
Chupick Nicolas The only downside to getting the MSR7 in my opinion would be the lack of colors since there's only two, black and gun metal. But I'll see if I can get my hands on a demo to test them out first before I say anything else. Thanks dude!
Miguel Nunez Yeah, but they look nice.
Miguel Nunez how's the bass on the crossfades?heard they have a "lot of bass".. how would u compare the sound to the beats by dre .. beats have a lot of bass but is it more balanced than the beats? how would u describe it. thanks
rolndice the crossfade is much better than beats..v moda has some of the clearest sound out there..and it has very nice bass and it's not overwhelming..just the right amount..v moda over beats any day
Great job!
u should try skullcandy crusher wireless they are very good wireless headphones
Do a review of the Sony MDR-XB950N1.
Thanks Adam
Nice video, thanks!
Adam, One question Bose Bluetooth earbuds or Jaybird x3's?
Tablameister jaybird x3 any day
bose soundsport wireless are the best in my opinion i own the OG Jaybirds and they were horrible in comfort and would fall out easily when i was running...you should test out the bose soundsport wireless see how they feel plus you have 30 days to return them if you dont like them...if you want comfort and great sounding earbuds i would go with bose...jaybirds sound great if you have the pefect seal but you will always have to jam them in
What are the best headphones over-ear that don't look bulky builders ear plugs but sound great still?
Tomorrow I'm going to be picking up a monster Dna pro and monster dna, I found them for cheap at visions
I'm nearly to buy the Sehn. HD-25 (old but gold) for 150$.
which do you choose as alternative from this video? ( with the same or best quality at the same/lowest budget)
i need for DJing and some production
robyca92 the vmodas are good voor DJing but are twice the price
tim imming exactly :/ too expensive! thnk you for the feedback
I have never used the HD 25 but I friend of mine has them and a lot of DJs use them so I think they will be good
What about high impedance headphones? I would like to buy ones between 150-600 ohms for less than $200.
