In this video Macie was epitome of 'Accepting/loving yourself' and standing up for what she loved and believe despite her BFFS disapproval. People may call it social suicide but you can't deny that what Macie did took huge balls and for that alone she's truly one of the strongest if not strongest character on this show. I love this show. ^^
wow seriously what a great scene from an under-rated nicktoon that was aimed more for the teenage audience Ginger and Dodie just seemingly want to act and grow older fast just for the supposed cool parties and popularity , while there best friend Macy just wants to enjoy being a child and hold on to the memories of there ever decreasing childhood so she peforms something the whole gang used to sing together
I never understood the whole show or the situations mainly bc I was very young when I "watched" this show, yet I remember this chapter more than anything from the entire series. I actually CRIED when she performed, I do remember her friends telling her not to do it yet she went for it, and when the music stops and she starts singing all by herself....man it hit me real hard.
I just noticed how autotuned is this, yet that doesn't take awwy the feelings of this. Pretty much one of the most emotionally defining moments of my childhood
I know, it made me sad too, I think because it seems like Ginger and Dodie kinda went against her in this episode, like they were embarrassed or something (maybe I need to watch it again)
I remembered this episode when talking to my mom earlier today about pokemon. In Elementary, it's the greatest thing ever. In middle school and high school, if you like pokemon you're some sort of 'baby' or 'outcast'. Hit college, and suddenly it's cool again. Little Seal Girl reminded me of that trend. Kudos to Macie for not changing herself and going through with that.
Because it was the weak and meager character actually winning everyone over through her force of personality and bravery. This is the perfect ugly duckling ending. She didn't change, she just shown that she was wonderful to everyone else.
This moment is wonderful. Macie fights the peer pressure to disdain their childhood tradition in a race to grow up and prove themselves cool or “mature”. But she also learns by the end of it that the crowd reaction shouldn’t determine what is right for the group to perform. Because of their strong friendship, their tradition lives by bombing together or succeeding together-not broken and apart. ❤ powerful moral lessons for tweens that sadly do not exist in cartoons today.
Sometimes I want to know what kind of friends are Ginger and Dodie. I always find Macie and Courtney are the two of the sweetest characters on the show.
It's been 5 years but i hope u doing well In my opinion Courtney is good girl but she's affected by Miranda behaviour towards ginger.. Macie is still in the beginning of being a teen still living her age as child unlike ginger and dodi who want to grow fast
Back when cartoons taught morals and not how to be rude to adults, gosh whats become of cartoons now adays? I cringe at the stuff my little brother and sister watch
but the simpsons came before this, and it can be described exactly as "teaching kids how to be rude to adults" everyone has this idea that everything back then was great (and it always coincides with the time that they were kids, really ask anyone and everyone will tell you that everything was better when they were young.) and everything now is shit. when it's really just your point of view and also an inability to cope with change.
Most folks think that I'm not real 'Cause I'm half girl and I'm half seal I'm a little seal girl livin' in the real world And it's so hard to get by 'Cause seals can't even cry But in this endless, boundless sea Is there no one who looks like me I know I must stay chipper, One day I'll find a friend to hold my flipper 'Cause I'm a little seal girl livin' in the real world And it's so hard to get by 'Cause seals can't even cry Sry I am late😬 9 years to be exact
I was singing this all day and i watched it with arabic when i was child it's mu 1st time to hear the original 😂💖💖I liked Courtney but i hated Miranda 😩💔 this scene is iconic for Life she was brave to sing
In the earliest 2000s, nerd culture wasn't big. It was ridiculed if you liked Pokémon, or Batman, or "children" things, and a lot of the 2000s earliest aesthetic was pretty edgy and leaving the naivety of the 90s behind, of your childhood. Then Macie came in and she spoke for all of us. That you can grow up, but that won't mean killing your inner kid.
omg! i haven't seen this in years but as soon as it came on all the lyrics popped right in my head and came right out my mouth! in tune and everything! lol
For the ppl who are wierd like me and wanna play this on the guitar; I sat here and found out by ear my self! Standard Tuning : Capo on 2nd fret Intro: Cmaj: Most folks think that im not real Am: cause i'm half girl and Gmaj: i'm half seal Chorus: Fmaj: i'm a little seal girl Gmaj: livin in the real world Em: And it's so hard to get Fmaj: by Gmaj: Cause seals can't Em: Even Fmaj: Cry ENJOY! Cause I did, lol

This episode had such an impact on my childhood memories!
Iconic.
I just realized that Macie's VA would be PERFECT to voice Alphys.
I can totally see that!! Now that's how I'll imagine her voice, lol! (Before, I kinda pictured her sounding like Peridot from Steven Universe)
0:27 Someone has started crying.
I just noticed how autotuned is this, yet that doesn't take awwy the feelings of this. Pretty much one of the most emotionally defining moments of my childhood
Miss this show
lmao i remember when i was younger i cried watching this smh lol idk why
me too, lol. I think it's because it taught me a lot about self-acceptance.
I know, it made me sad too, I think because it seems like Ginger and Dodie kinda went against her in this episode, like they were embarrassed or something (maybe I need to watch it again)
I used to have this on a CD when I was six! I sang this song all the time :)
What is the name of the sooong please tell me if u know it :(
***** The name of the song is simply "Little Seal Girl Theme Song". It was on the 2001 CD The Newest Nicktoons.
I remembered this episode when talking to my mom earlier today about pokemon. In Elementary, it's the greatest thing ever. This is one of the most beautiful moments of Nick tv ever. Does anyone know if the song at the start has a full length?
I dont think so. but it comes back a few times
This never got old she did great singing that song
Seals can't even cry *-* this is inspiring

I know your comment is a decade old but damn. This is very profound.

I sing this little song all the time. Loved it when I first saw this episode many years ago and had to find it to watch it again. It's just so sweet
this was pretty badass.
whoo yay Macie, sing it girl
Back when cartoons taught morals and not how to be rude to adults, gosh whats become of cartoons now adays? I cringe at the stuff my little brother and sister watch
Probably not rude enough so got taken off air *le evil glares*

I had this on my mind when I was taking the MCAT today. Like, how???
Takev Tak hahaha..mcat can be related to this situation btw...😂😂😂
did you pass? are you an MD now?
So yeah, this randomly popped into my head after like, what, almost 20 years now? Lol
HA! Same.
SAME!
90s kids remember.
I loved that ep as a kid!!! Most dramatic scene of my childhood!:D
Most folks think that I'm not real
'Cause I'm half girl and I'm half seal
I'm a little seal girl livin' in the real world
And it's so hard to get by
'Cause seals can't even cry
But in this endless, boundless sea
Is there no one who looks like me
I know I must stay chipper,
One day I'll find a friend to hold my flipper
'Cause I'm a little seal girl livin' in the real world
And it's so hard to get by
'Cause seals can't even cry
Sry I am late😬 9 years to be exact
Popplio Defense Squad, roll out!
I really don't know if it's cause I took sleeping pills and haven't slept yet. But I laughed throughout this whole video
No, no.....it's not the pills man. Ambien WALRUS, not seal girl. Haha
Macie is so inspirational.
This for some reason makes me sad..
I used to think that Marcie was a boy when I was a kid for some reason.
My mom was being a b!%@# to me tonight, hurting my feelings without care, so this Macie moment is what I need to make myself smile! :)
I hope things improved with you and your mother.
I was singing this all day and i watched it with arabic when i was child it's mu 1st time to hear the original 😂💖💖I liked Courtney but i hated Miranda 😩💔 this scene is iconic for Life she was brave to sing

This has my seal of approval.
Dude, at around 25 seconds, that dude crying to Macie's dancing had me cracking up.

I have been wishing for so long, at least for the rest of the high school years or something because they seriously ended it with her freshman year.

I ended up having a crush on her after this episode
lmfao I remembered the words to this...
And in this endless boundless sea... is there no one who looks like meeeee
This is one of my favorite episodes I think she did an ok job singing I mean it was no Whitney Houston or Kim Taeyeon but macie was amazing
+Sohani Cridland ATBG aired the first 12 episodes on The Splat last weekend including Little Seal Girl. I can't believe they aired it without copyright. Lol.
It's so sad :( I love her.
Macie reminds me of Meg Griffin. LOL!
I need this sometimes...
