Brutal video man!! Sick skillz and riffzzzz! . I have been using this bad boy forever! Classic and one of the best pedals out there... Saludos desde Colombia!! 🇨🇴
Man, this is such a throwback. I remember 15 year old me thought this pedal was the pinnacle of high gain tone 😂 To be fair though, I think it holds up better than a lot of other "metal" pedals from that era.
What pedals do you think ARE at the pinnacle of high gain tones??? I have a few distortion pedals and they just aren't cutting it for me tone wise. I'm going down the distortion rabbit hole as we speak (and smoking a joint, hahaha). Would love some recommendations that you thing are good for those beefy/full tones that don't sound too compressed or sludgy/messy
@@koolaidguy420get the ML-2 it’s really reliable. You can use it as a pre amp, a phat boost, regular distortion, etc, etc. you just gotta learn the kinks on it, definitely not what you should rely on for your tone unless using a clean amp and maybe an eq after it?
I've heard of people using the ML-2 as a boost in front of the crunch channel, or the distortion channel with the gain turned down a bit, with the gain turned low to almost off and the volume dimed.
Yeah it definitely works wonders on gaining up clean and medium gain things. I ran it here into a clean channel and it’s pretty damn convincing for a reasonably cheap pedal
Probably would have sounded better bypassing the amps preamp and going directly into the FX Return of the amp. I think the downfall of a lot of distortion pedals is trying to get it to play nicely with the clean channel of an amp.
I have a Boss Katana mini. I have tried a Behringer GDI21 into the clean channel and it sounded ok but the Katana lead channels had it beat. BUT just a little while ago I tried turning up the gain on the clean halfway and BAM it sounds freaking awesome now. Like a hot rodded JCM800. Old school metal tone.
@@chrisw5742 I will say that putting a distortion pedal into the clean channel of a solid state amp does sound better than the clean channel of a tube amp. But putting a distortion pedal into the FX return of a tube amp is still the way to get the best sound

Yeah I’ve tried a bunch that are worse, surprisingly decent for what it does

First
Can you also use it as a preamp, straight in your amps return?
Haven’t tried it but I’m sure it would do the trick, it’s that kind of pedal
