He was playing voluntary “Russian Roulette” and lost, big time. Blanks or real bullets, don’t ever play that game; unless the barrel(chamber) is empty.

Someone has to be responsible for the safety of the people on the set, because not everyone can correctly assess the dangers. He is therefore not solely to blame.
He was astonishing in his good looks. It is quite moving to know that his organs went on to save/assist numerous individuals after his Death. I had more time with my beloved late Father because the parents of a 15 year old boy decided, surely amid immense shock and sorrow-laden Grief, to donate his organs after he perished in a Car crash. He had unloaded all but one (blank) round, spun it, and-simulating Russian roulette-he put the revolver to his right temple and pulled the trigger, unaware of the danger.[14] The explosive effect of the muzzle blast caused enough blunt force trauma to fracture a quarter-sized piece of his skull and propel this into his brain, causing massive hemorrhaging.[8][15] Hexum was rushed to Beverly Hills Medical Center, where he underwent five hours of surgery to repair his wounds.[1][15] On October 18, aged 26, six days after the accident, Hexum was declared brain dead.

@@GS-zc4sk I think students of physics would know about the immense burst of energy that results from the firing of even a blank, and the force with which the cotton wadding or wax plug in the blank was propelled outwards. However, I think many in rhe general public would not have really given much thought to it, or to how blanks are actually constructed. However it wasn't the waddinf itself, but the fact that the energy transfer to Hexum's temple caused a piece of his skull - harder than any wadding or wax or paper - to break off and then be propelled deep into his brain. Like dominoes falling or like the balls hitting each other on a pool table. That energy has to go somewhere. Hexum was sleep deprived at the time, and probably this affected his judgment. But also the actors ought to have received education about the nature of the blanks, and about the serious dangers they posed.

He was very handsome!!! However, let's not exaggerate. The world is full of gorgeous people (men included). I know that you haven't seen every man that ever lived.
@@wdgbirmingham2 Um escândalo de homem bonito tche , como pode , morrer este gato , tanto horror por aí precisando sair fora do planeta. 😡
The most handsome actor of the early 80s... 🥰😍🤩
He was, by far, my biggest crush at that time and I was devastated when he passed away. I haven't seen anything about him in many years and the minute I started watching the video, the tears started flowing. Thank you for sharing this with us. Thoughts and love go out to his family as well as everyone, young or old, who loved him and always will.❤
I remember him. Gorgeous man. RIP 4ever young. ❤
Põe lindo nisso 💔
I remember him, he was an up-and-coming actor and most likely the best looking guy in Hollywood at the time. This was 40 years ago and he would be 67 if he had lived.
I remember him very well i was devastated by the news what a freaking accident. 26 years old 😢 handsome man yes Cover up with the music I NEED A HERO ❤
Truly tragic. He had accomplished so much in his short life with such a bright future. A damn shame.
@@gulliblesbabbles 😔😔😔🙏
So sad what happened, he was one of the most Handsome guy I've seen in Hollywood, too bad that happened kuz he was a good Actor, RIP
sometimes a bad idea is unrecoverable. Very sad, I remember this, he was by all accounts on his way up to who knows where.
This was tragic!
I remember Jon-Erik very well indeed and I was so sad when he died.
Jon-Erik had such promise!
He was gorgeous, talented and he had a great speaking voice, the kind that commanded your attention!
I’m so pleased that you made this video about him.
I was so very sad when he left us but my first thought went to the young curly italiano actor he acted with on tv. These two seemed to have become great friends even out of the set. Jon was like a big Brother to him.
Wow, what a crazy story, never knew these details. Sounds like he had a promising future & was working his life.
Pretty sad if you think how he died. Thank you for helping others.
So very handsome and talented. Such a loss!
I still remember you, i was so sad when you left too soon, Rest in Peace JEH🙏💐🌹❤️
I know i know everyone can see those beautiful baby blues OBVIOUSLY!!! BUT CAN WE ALSO TALK ABOUT THAT PERFECT JAWBONE STRUCTURE?!!! 😮 HE sure was gorgeous. May his beautiful soul RIP 😢
💟🙏💟💟🙏🙏🙏
I had a major crush on Jon back in the day and was devastated when he passed away. I thought that he and Tom Welling (Superman in Smallville) looked alike. In fact he would have made an excellent Superman. So pleased to know that five families got to keep their loved ones. He lives on through them. Gone but never forgotten. ❤
@@michaelverbakel7632Чувствуется скандинавский тип, я даже не сомневался
He was so beautiful. And his voice.... His voice.... ❤❤❤❤ If you've never heard him speak, look him up. He's been gone for 40 years but will forever be 26.
I remember getting on the bus to our high school, and sharing the upset of the loss with friends... We watched Cover-Up regularly, but stopped soon after, as it was NOT the same without him and it just was a hard loss to the show. Such a sad loss too young, of someone who seemed to nearly have it all.
Thanks for creating this, and letting us know he was an organ donor.
I remember this as well. He was such a beautiful man.
Se fosse feio , talvez estivesse vivo.
He was so gorgeous, I was devastated when I'd heard he'd passed. He could have gone far. ❤
I was shocked when I heard how he died, gosh he was amazing, handsome and his long life a head of him and this happens. Saw the show and changed him since he died but the show dropped.. Even back then, not one came close to his looks and acting.. RIP Jon-Erik...still missed..!!!❤
I wanted to sleep with him too.
Was it something similar to what happened with Alec Baldwin?
@@md8465 Hexum became restless and impatient during the delay and began playing around to lighten the mood. He had unloaded all but one (blank) round, spun it, and-simulating Russian roulette-he put the revolver to his right temple and pulled the trigger, unaware of the danger.[14]
The explosive effect of the muzzle blast caused enough blunt force trauma to fracture a quarter-sized piece of his skull and propel this into his brain, causing massive hemorrhaging.[8][15]
Hexum was rushed to Beverly Hills Medical Center, where he underwent five hours of surgery to repair his wounds.[1][15] On October 18, aged 26, six days after the accident, Hexum was declared brain dead.
@@md8465 If only, no was blanks and even if firing blanks close to you like that , just like the real thing so.. even blanks are bad up close.. He was playing with the gun to his head gosh.. I was gonna mention Greg Plitt, that was unreal.. was being filmed so, no one heard nor saw a train, and the rails didn't shake.. Greg was not careless so that did not ad up, and seen his wife, pff. nothing ads up!
I was a little girl when the show started, and I automatically fell in love with him. I felt so sad that I cried, and to this day, I still remember him.❤😢
What a ridiculously handsome beautiful man. Wow. We missed out on him.
Oh my gosh , I was so happy to see this video. I had the biggest crush on him and was devastated when he died! He was so talented and the most gorgeous man I have ever seen with those piercing blue eyes. Every time I hear the song “I need a hero” it brings back memories of him. Glad to now his death was not in vain and saved 5 people. Thank you for showing this. 😢
He was my biggest crush back when I was in the closet. I was devastated when he died. It was so long ago that most people never heard of him. Thank you so much for making this popular short video!
Several of my friends knew him in college. He was gay. So you had a chance. My friend says I met him at a party, but I have no recollection.
@@martha-anastasiaI was born in 1959, so he was only slightly older than me. I loved his voice, his eyes, face, hairy chest, muscles 💪🏽 and everything else!
I was a a toddler in the early 80s lol. Never heard of him until today. Handsome man he was
@@martha-anastasia jon wasn't gay, he dated a woman as you see here
@@MetaMind-r2s Plenty of gay people date and even marry the opposite sex. 🙄
Perfection exemplified. My goodness! 🔥♥️
This is the death that still crumbles me to pieces. Funny, gorgeous, good guy, and getting famous after years of struggling. He was going to be a major star. Losing him was devastating and preventable. Jon-Erik was a beautiful man in life as well as in death because he was an organ donor. Forty years since his passing and it’s still so incredibly painful.
So good looking and talented. Heart breaking. 💔
My god, what an absolute handsome man. Such a loss 💔
God Bless those 5 people he saved.
He was so beautiful and graciously man. I love Jon-Erik Hexum. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I was a teen when he died. I had SUCH a crush on him! He was the most handsome man I had ever seen. So sad he died that way.
I adored him. I had just arrived at University when he died. So tragic. He would have been a superstar.
I remember this... This was so sad. Good looking young man 😢❤
What a gorgeous man
So sad and tragic, yet thank God he was able to help five people with his organs
Bless him… I forgot about that…Amen🙏🏼💙
His death was huge news. It was all over the place. As kids we were talking about it at school. RIP
Beautiful man and what a tragic loss😢 I remember him, he was on his way to major stardom
He didn't need to die but thoughtlessness and inexperience did him in. What a sad story!
Had no idea blanks carried that much energy.
Never treat a gun with disrespect
😔😔😔🙏
@@GS-zc4skexactly no one would know that
@@GS-zc4sk I think students of physics would know about the immense burst of energy that results from the firing of even a blank, and the force with which the cotton wadding or wax plug in the blank was propelled outwards.
I remember it, it was tragic & unbelievable. Voyagers was a great show too. When he died many people lost their jobs.
I remember when the tragic accident happened that took Jon Erik's life. I think I remember reading that Joan Collins was very shook by it. Such a tragedy but good to know others were able to live longer because of him. RIP 💖🌄🌈🕊️🌹
You remember right. Joan Collins was pretty traumatized by his accidental death.
She said she'd just been talking to him a few minutes before it happened. 😢😢
@@badkitty4922 So sad 😢
@laurastrobel718 I'd seen his work in a few things but I was 14, and didn't remember titles.
He was very good.
Yes, beautiful and model handsome, but he was more than his face and that's who I admired. Substance over surface. 😉👍💖🫂
@@badkitty4922 I don't think I really saw him in anything. I worked nights a lot back then. I just remember the reports about his tragic death. Freaked me out, so sad. 😔
He a angel now and happy to be with god ❤❤❤❤
Absolutely handsome. My room has his poster during my teenage years ❤. My youngest sister destroyed it after a fight… later on life I told my husband the story of my poster and he secretly looked for it (without even knowing him) and gave it to me as a gift… Now I have again a poster of John Eric in my closet 🙈😝😀🥰
He's destined to be immortalised in this beautiful form..😌🙏💐

What a horrific story. I do remember him vaguely. What a terrible loss.
Very sad!
