  • Another evening of beaming into the skies to receive radio signals from amateur radio satellites and beyond.
This video catches two satellites and a total of three passes with plenty of radio voice contacts coming through.
The Satellites are both VHF/UHF SSB Satellites and are in a low Earth orbit. when in range radio contacts via the onboard linear Transponder (repeator) can be made with other equipped Radio amateurs.
thanks for watching and following the Satellite fun.
don't forget to hit the subscribe button and notification bell 🔔 for my next mission.
    73 thank you.

Hey Simon! I love that MFJ clock you've got there (9:17) - I'll have to get me one of those. Must be easier for you though, living there on the Prime Meridian ; )

How you doing, hopefully good. Yes it's a cool clock I have had it years it's been reliable and faultless. It takes a bit of understanding at first but now the whole family uses it as a regular time check. When I think about it my kids have got used to it as if it was a normal clock. 🤔 anyway, get yourself one they are a must for hams like us. Catch you later have a nice evening 73

Simon. Are you using a 70cm pre amp? Just wondering. I’m almost finished with my station and starting to hear just like you do 😃

Hi Carlos I'm happy to hear that you are doing well setting up your station for satellite 🛰 I hope that we can make a qso. I do not have a preamplifier but I am probably going to get one for 70cm in the next couple of months. A fellow sat op and RUclipsr recently got one and he said it was very good with big signal improvements. I will be looking at one that is powered via the coax from the radio. Catch you on the birds. Sounds good, Simon. I got an SP-7000 and it is excellent. I hope we can make a QSO one of this days. It’s going to be easier on HF than VHF/UHF but you never know! 😂 73 de N3CMZ

Hi Simon, just building a ground station in IO93CT, only on ants on the roof but can hear you on the uplink. Heve you done anything with QO-100?

    • @M0YKSHamRadio

Hi buddy good to hear your interested in the Sat's and you must be reasonably local if you can hear my uplink. Cool....
I have not had the opportunity to try QO-100 but would definitely like to get into it. I would need some more equipment to access the higher frequency range. My station is 2/70 and its quite expensive if I want to upgrade to a radio capable of 2.4 ghz and 1ghz which I would need. I have had a look at some of the alternative options which are a bit cheaper but still quite expensive. I'll keep looking and see if anything pops up. I have had a listen to the Downlink via goonhilly online sdr which is pretty cool. in the meantime, catch you on the LEO Sats

On the SATs we keep it short as it soon gets out of range. The challenge is to catch as many others as possible and also get further away long distances. When we are on other bands we talk about all sorts of things and generally have a good chat.
