Lol maybe they are unique sounds, but still there’s no question as to where the inspiration came from. It seems Emo is trying to be Vector + Cozmo without getting sued.

@@Jushwa yes anki really put their best and passion into their creation.. sad they have to experience management problem
@@mrwoodcat it was not management it was funding. Investors saw other home robotics startups biting the dust around the same time, and they eventually lost faith in Anki’s long term vision.
Loosing Anki was probably the biggest blow to the fun robotics consumer space.

I would say EMO referred to Cozmo and Vector when Living.AI started creating EMO, but as far as I know, it is not illegal to do so. The robot is different, the voice and tone are different, the way many of its voice expressions are different. The eyes on EMO is more detailed and has more expressional eyes than Cozmo or Vector does. And if we look at some of Living.AI's video update before, EMO has more app games that interacts with EMO than what Vector or Cozmo have. And I don't think DDL can sue Living.AI for using the same concept of expression, which does not own by anyone. No one owns a wink.
However, looking at DDL's coming move, they did failed to request the factory that worked with ANKI before to work with them. They also blame it on covid-19, so who knows what the real reason is behind why the factory is not willing to work with them. So DDL planned to revamp Cozmo and Vector, I would assume the cost won't be cheap and if they couldn't find a factory in China to produce it, they will either have to do it back in US, either way, Cozmo and Vector won't be cheap. On top of that, EMO is being promoted at $129 USD, way cheaper than what Cozmo and Vector is, and with things that neither of Cozmo/Vector have. The promised made by ANKI failed due to bankruptcy, and the promises from DDL is not met yet, and no solid update on where they are. The only update they have been offering is the cloud side update so that people can ask a little more FAQ from Vector, and an additional mini game on Vector's eyes.
So far I don't think it's about copyright infringement, it seems more like a tactic to beat down a competitor using the cheap old "copyright" tactic. And we can't really blame DDL for not doing it, since they had just bought all this fun little things from ANKI, and they haven't really earn anything from it yet other than the crowdfund of mostly empty promises at the moment, and little is met. But who knows, will need to see where it goes from here. I still wish EMO can be released, it looks more fun than what Vector and Cozmo is. Cozmo and Vector as it is now is really just good for programmers, and for normal owners like myself, it's cute and fun to watch sometimes, but it doesn't really do much and hardly anything that allows owner to interact with.
I think you have many good points in here! Me myself am still happy with the services DDL has already provided like keeping him alive and working. If DDL had not bought vector, vector would be just a decoration piece that would not react at all to you but I still agree with you that emo is looking awesome and I also think that living.ai is doing nothing wrong, the robots created by anki are wonderful robots but not the first nor the last desktop robots.

A real comparison, emo I ordered start of March and nothing here. Cozmo I have 300 robots. Which is better? The thing that actually physically exists here

Emo sounds like they ripped the voice from Cozmo then made it they’re own robot

To be honest. All the sounds are copied from the Morph animation as featured on the Tony Heart Art show from the 1980s. The faces are copied from the robot from in Wallee. It's daft to patent a couple of animated squares and some silly noises. DDL should come back when someone copies their actual robot design, the one that Ankit stole from all the tracked robots that came before Cosmo and bulldozers
