So inspiring , Ben! Congrats on getting into PT school :) #lowgpaprept
Thank you Riya!! And as the first person to put up the hashtag, You're pinned!👊🏼💯😄
You’re an inspiration to us all Ben! Can’t wait for you to begin your journey, keep us updated!
Thank you Solomon! I've been away for over a year, but I am BACK and I'll actually be dropping a new video tomorrow at 6:30 PM PST. Would love to see you at the premiere!!!😀
Hi Ben!
I want to start off by saying thank you making this video and inspiring so many of us with 2.0’s. I graduated last fall with a major in Exercise and Sports Science. My first 2 years were rough but my grades and semester gpa slowly started to improve. However I ended up w/ a 2.6. I really thought I would somehow get to a 3.0 but it simply didn’t happened.. After graduation I was very discouraged because I didn’t know what I was going to do.. I knew it didn’t want to be a coach and PT techs don’t make much, plus PT techs are usually students trying to get their hours, so I knew it wasn’t going to be “my forever job”. Another reason I was very discouraged was because I heard that once you graduated, you can’t change your GPA... I heard post grad it’s only to do the classes you still may need to apply for the program but they won’t count towards your gpa -which unfortunately makes senses.. So my question it’s how true it’s this? Should I retake the classes I did poor on? I’m lost and confused.
Thank you in advance!
Hey Marsh, sorry for taking so long to get back to you, been away from RUclips for over a year! That's a myth, as shown in the video, PTCAS calculated my cumulative GPA as undergrad + everything I did after. I know there's "information" out there that says otherwise, but the video is my proof of my experience! I would absolutely retake the classes you did poor on, ESPECIALLY if they are pre-reqs!.
Also, I am BACK for good this time and TOMORROW at 6:30 Pm PST will be my FIRST video in over a year. Would love to see you there at the premiere!😊
I’m not going to PT school but OT school. Two days ago OTCAS calculated my GPA as a 2.75. I screamed because i did not expect that. I thought ATLEAST it would be a 3.0. I applied to USHAS and the enrollment advisor said I have nothing to worry about because 1.) GRE was waived, 2.) my personal statement was GREAT and 3.) my prerequisites were a 3.79. She has strong confidence I’ll be getting called in for an interview. I’ll keep you posted when everything happens
good luck!!!! thats so nerve wracking but if your advisor feels confident then im sure youll do well
@@victorrestrepo5633 I got in actually two weeks ago :) Doctor of Occupational Therapy
@@stac1465 whaaat thats amazing!!! omg so there is hope for me and my 2.8
@@michellemarcos8517 hi! Depending on what your anatomy grade is determines if you should apply especially if it’s OT or PT. I retook both anatomy’s last summer it was a pain but I got my B and C up to A’s so I think they liked that. Thank you!!
What's the update? :)
At 3:00.. this report made me feel so much better man. I did the exact same thing as you and I have a cumulative gpa of about 2.81. Ive put in the work with over 1000 hours of observation, shadowing, volunteer and even my job as a PT aide. Im waiting to hear back from schools now and although excited, I am very nervous. This video helped calmed my nerves a little and so I really appreciate it Ben, thank you.
Hey Tyler! I was really curious to hear what the results from your applications were?
@@javenmiguel still working on it buddy… I’m applying again as soon as applications open with higher gpas, more hours and upgraded essays. If you don’t get in the first time around, try until you get there if you really want it
Hi Ben! I’ve was 100% on the verge of a full blown panic attack and your video really gives me a glimpse of hope. If at anytime you would be free to discuss schools and your experience in more depth I would really appreciate it! Thank you for inspiring future physical therapists! #lowgpaprept
Hey Kara, I'm glad to hear that! I would love to! I'm really busy this week with exams, but add me on one of my socials and message me and we can come up with some time next week or so! :)
got a 2.8 and a little bit of weight has been taken off. i work as a pt tech in acute rehab at a hospital, hopefully that experience plus my observation hours sets me apart. if i dont get in this time, im retaking maybe 3 classes and trying again
Ben!!! This video is phenomenal!! Sooo inspiring!! Breaking stereotypes about low GPA applicants!! So proud of you!!
Heyyy!! I put a lot into this so I'm really so happy to hear that! Thank you very much🙏🙏🙏😁
Glad to finally watch your very first video.
Haha I know man, it took way too long!! But, just glad it's finally out there for the world! Nowhere near perfect, but it's about the impact :)
Out of all of the RUclips videos that I’ve watched on medical topics or professional schools, You are the first person from UCM that I have come across. I am currently working to achieve the same goal of becoming a PT student even though my GPA is not the best. Wishing nothing but continued success fellow Bobcat!
Same to you! #Bobcats

very inspiring Ben, thanks for sharing your story a lot of people needs to watch this and believe!
Thank you for this. You're a great source of inspiration.
You're welcome! I hope this helps you :)
Thanks for sharing! This was great information and motivation as I am a soon to be graduate of college looking to enter into PT.
Thank you for the love!! Looking forward to helping you even more :)
Darn cousins be like you no doctor yet. Great vid! Thank you! How about if most of the prereqs were mostly completed just 10 years ago?
Only 4 more months to go! Sorry Marcos, Been away from social media, but I'm back! It will depend per DPT program. However, most programs will most likely require you to retake anything past 8 years. Double check with the specific school's site or PTCAS to be sure .
ALSO, I'm back, New video dropping TOMORROW 6:30 Pm PST. Hope to see you at the premiere Marcos!👊
Thank you for this. This gave me both hope and motivation to achieve my dreams
#lowgpaprept let’s talk! I’m not sure if you’re still offering this but I would love to hear your thoughts

You're welcome A T. Go get it!!
Such an inspiring journey
Thank you Sarah!! I definitely will💯💪🏼
Hey man, i have a question about how many courses you took at once. I know a lot of these pre-reqs have labs, how did you balance those classes? Did you take one class at a time? 2? or a full schedule? just curious. I have a 2.96 gpa and got a B in my first retake of a &p 1 and A in lifespan psych class. Would you recommend retaking that class to get an A?
Hey Max! How many classes you take really depends on what else you got going on. Some people are working while taking classes as well so they are limited to 1 or 2 classes at a time. The best way I would go about it is to plan it backwards. Count how many classses you need. Figure out which cycle you want to apply by. Then once you know that, you know how much time you have to complete all those classes. I would only retake that class if you had time to. Make sure all those C and D's turn into A's and B's. Hopefully A Lot more A's than B's of course. Hope this helps!
Hey great video. I had a question for you or anyone who knows. Does it matter if one takes post bacc classes (pre reqs) at a community college? I don’t know if I should do post bacc classes at the undergraduate college to increase GPA or take post bacc classes at community college instead. It would definitely be better to take classes at a community college because it’s cheaper.
Thank you Kevin! Definitely take them at a community college man. I'll dive deeper into it in a future video, but community college works perfectly as long as it's accredited 😁
First I would like to congratulate you on your acceptance!! Did u have an interview at Tennessee and University of ST Augustine? Thank you!
Hey Sergine! Thank you very much
I got interviews with both and I got an interview with Rosalind Franklin University as well!
YASSSSS BENN!!
Sir
I am from India studying bachelor of physical therapy in 3 nd year . so for master of physical therapy which is the best universities in USA , what exam I have to give and what is the procedure for addmission and how can I get scholarship ??
Thank you so much for the video; I was about giving up trying for PT school till I found your real inspiring video. I’m wondering if you have any consultation session to help me for my application , I’ll pay for all the sessions my application needs to work on.
I’m preparing for GRE and have all the prerequisites; but totally confused and hopeless.
Nasiim! Hello, Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you! I've been away from social media, but I AM BACK! How's everything going? Feel free to reach out to me on IG and let me know!
Also, I'll be uploading my first video in over a year and half tomorrow at 6:30 Pm PST! Would love to see you there at the premier!
your GRE looks pretty good tho. I have a 3.35 prereq and 2.68 cumulative 140V 145Q 3.0AW do you think I will get in Baylor?
Take a look at this boss.

You have to meet atleast their minimum requirements to have your application looked at. Hope this helps. Just because you're not ready now doesn't mean you can't be ready in the near future :)
how do you figure out the pre-rec GPA?
Let's talk #lowgpaprept
I just hate that PTCAS averages in your grades

was 2.4 your cumulative GPA or pre requisite GPA??
Cumulative out of undergrad!
@@TheLifeof2Point4 seriously? How exactly did you get into PT school? What was the process like? What do you think got you accepted??
@@Andrew-ez9ft It's no magic man! I think I talk about it all in this and my other videos. If there's something I haven't covered, let me know and I'll be glad to share it!
@@TheLifeof2Point4 yes but don't most PT schools want a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0? How did you get into one if your GPA did not meet the requirements? My cumulative GPA is 2.6 and I am about to be a junior this Fall. What advice do you have for me so I can strengthen my application??
@@Andrew-ez9ft Sorry Andrew, been away from Social media. You are absolutely correct, a lot of schools do have a min cum of 3.0. However, not all do. To get to interviews, you got to show what they want to see on paper. So I would look at each school you're interested in, hopefully 5 or less and see what the avg stats were for people that got accepted the previous term. That should give you a good idea of where you are weak or strong. Hope that helps!
ALSOOOO I'll be dropping my first video in over a year TOMORROW at 6:30 Pm PST. Would love to see you at the premiere! 😁
Thank you for the insight.

Hey Ben, My name is Orlando. As of now, I have a 3.09 CGPA (cumulative) and a 3.0 pre-req. GPA. I will be taking the GRE's in August and have about 48 hours of volunteer observation. Do you think I will even fare well against other students? The average GPA the school I want to go to accepts 3.4 for the cumulative GPA. I really don't want to be set back and I guess it's just super stressful. I have this this year left. What is your advice? Should I graduate and take the year to retake classes if need be? Thanks,Orlando
it was a question lol but okay
@@orlandogonzalez638 Hey Orlando, I'm sorry bro, I totally thought I replied to this! I would love to hear more about your situation before I come up with a definite answer, but several things come to mind. What school is this? And how do they evaluate their candidates? What are your experiences and How do you feel about your GRE? If you would like, we could definitely get in a call to talk more about it! Just based off what you said though, I would definitely recommend retaking some if your pre-req courses to put yourself at a more competitive position! And if your GRE isn't in a great spot, taking a gap year could definitely be an option. Hope this help Orlando!
