The Toronto Maple Leafs reported to training camp, but some off-ice news took some of the attention. Mike DiStefano and David Morassutti give their thoughts on Rogers purchasing Bell's stake in MLSE and what that could mean for the Leafs going forward. Mike and Dave then discuss what John Tavares and Mitch Marner said and did not say about their contract status. The BEST business opportunity missed this week. Bell could have sold their stake in MLSE for a greatly reduced price in exchange for MLSE waiving it's territorial rights for Bell to start a second franchise in the Toronto area. Fans would win big time. Bell would win big time. NHL would win and the other owners would win with the new franchise fee. And Rogers gets the reduced price. Winning all around. But it's Toronto where the misery continues with this oppressive monopoly. Even Mike and Dave look like they want to slit their wrists going into another torturous season of the same shit year after year. Yawn.
