I'm a female and I like to find out about my truck parts as much as possible because I don't want to take advantage of and talked down to. I appreciate you detailed video.
I loved it!!! Took the guess work out of repairing, replacing & troubleshooting! He's extremely discriptive which is most of the battle. Like to see more from this guy! Kudos! To 1aauto. Thank!
I was thinking to use some sort of grease to lubricare the hinge, thanks for the this video, preventing me from doing it wrong. Very clear and very well explained.🙂
Ah, I didn't realize the difference between grease and lubricant clearly. '12 Honda Pilot passenger door sounds like a haunted house and I put lithium grease on it, of course. I even have a bottle of silicone lubricant right next to the lithium grease (purchased for bike chains)! Off now to clean it and inspect bushings. :)
I wanted to see a repair for the oblong holes replacing the hole hinge it got to be easyer to just weld the hole and re drill.use an old non worn part from a junk yard tack it on after filling hole and put the same size hole back paint and put back together..490 and .530 hole size for a s10 i have a 1997.4.3 excab sportside L S
great video! I am curious if there's any official figure in the industry about the vertical weight a car door can bear, and dynamic stress, say if a weight on it is bouncing up and down, or, dropping on it. I've seen several Volvo and Audi seller jump onto their doors to show how strong the doors are, like their hinges are built more strongly. If you have any comment i'd like to know. If one accidentally swing open a door and let it fly, will that damage the hinge? the body anchor panel?
It seems that one of the keys to door sagging are the door hinge pin BUSHINGS, their placement and maintenance. I believe they are copper or brass. with the pressure and weight stress opening and closing are their better metals or alloys that can be used?
I would rate door hinge pin replacement as advanced do it yourself mechanics. The doors are heavy and it's a tricky balancing act...while wrenching, yikes! I know from experience, on my '99 Tahoe, I replaced the door hinge pins and bushings (a kit) twice! First time the mechanic did it as a side job and it only lasted a little over a year. Second time I went to a local auto repair with a great reputation but also high labor prices. They did a much better job but said the door hinges might need doing, some day or year/s down the road. They also if the first guy did a better/correct job there wouldn't be compounding issues with the door sagging. And the price of actual door hinge replacement was astronomical (well over %$1k each side or some such huge cost)...they warned be careful and try to make the second pin kit last. I hit a deer and the truck was junked. Now my '99 GMC pick up is doing the door sagging, arg! I'll probably bring it to licensed commercial shop, pay the extra and get them done right and tight. I'll inspect what you pointed out in your informative well made yt video, for sure...helps to know what's involved before paying for costly reputable labor. In my Tahoe, the interior door handle n cable got too stretched out, then the handle broke, so I would roll down the window and open door within exterior handle, over time the window started failing (from over use) so now my window needed a fix., lol, such hassle/dangerous when you cannot open the door from the inside. I waited too long, it was truly great when I finally fixed the sagging door issue' and also new issues! My advice,,,,fix those sagging doors, it's worth it and safer than a stuck door. But hire a pro if you are not advanced imho. Good luck and thank you for the video!
My older Ford Ranger had a sagging door due to a worn hinge. I just replaced the hinge and the door is bent from the compensated sagging position. It's hard to bend anything on it now, going to take it to a mechanic to see if they have any tricks.
I had hinges and pins put in 7 months ago, now the one on the top by the roller is already rusting…shouldnt they last longer than that before rusting??
I’m not sold on using the silicone spray instead of lithium grease spray. I’ve looked at new cars have a clear grease from the factory. Any dirt the grease attracts shouldn’t be much of a problem. Grease will last longer in my opinion. People really need to occasionally grease those hinges especially the over used drivers door!
My door doesn't align at the top. It almost looks like the guy I bought it from opened his door forcibly cuz it was locked or something. It is like propped open at the top. Any fix for this?
My 2013 Sierra truck has a grinding sound on the drivers side door, I checked both doors and they both have no missing parts, I wonder if the drivers side door is maybe out of alignment or something?
Hi I have a Honda CRV 2010 and it seems that the hinges must have to be replace, the alarm goe off also somethimes, does this has something to do with the door not closing 100% >? ?
What has happened to your 3rd gen Camaro build? Replacing hinges on the door is a complete pain. Can you produce a hinge replacement on a 3rd gen. Thanks.
I have a 95 Dodge ram the Hinge pins are good But door still segs. Bushing and pins are fine. But I'm still going to change them. Dora just not lining up.
OK my driver door does exactly as your door in video of over lapping door and seemingly door is at opposite corners larg gap opposite corners small gaps rust is not my problem please help
+Darlene Hutchison We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c

Thanks for the closeup of the pin and bushing. Too many times the viewer cannot see what the mechanic is talking about. Not the case here.

New name: the car doctor. Thank you!
My squeak is IN the door at the arm that attaches into the door itself. Please do a video on how to stop that squeak
Hinge bushing kits are brass and quickly deform (smoosh). Do you sell extra wide bushings made of a harder material?

Like! And where is other dude, first one?
Can wd 40 be used ?
Wd40 is a solvent, you can use it to help clean off the old debris but then after its dry apply a silocone lubricant as the video suggests
Biggest reason for this issue... which you failed to mention, is that the driver's door is used the most of any door.
Make a stand with 2 4 one men can do the job without takeing the wires apart
Conclusion: the problem is heavy Chevy doors
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
