- Part 2 of our Iona Norwegian Fjords cruise sees us stopping in our first port, Stavanger. Unfortunately the weather gods weren’t on our side so we couldn’t do any excursions but we enjoyed a wander around the pretty streets.
Back on board Iona we took advantage of one of the outdoor whirlpools on promenade deck and enjoyed a cocktail in the Crows Nest for the Stavanger sail away.
Ålesund was our second stop and again the weather was abysmal. We still managed to hike up to Aksla viewpoint and despite getting wet and very windswept we were rewarded with fantastic views of the town.
We had one of our favourite meals on Iona at The Beach House (if you’re a steak lover you should definitely treat yourself to the lava salt steak). It was DELICIOUS!
And we also enjoyed a couple of shows in Headliners theatre. A jam packed couple of days!
Stay tuned for Part 3 of our P&O Iona vlog series.
Thanks for watching 😊

did this cruise march 22 , really fabulous ship and Norway is a beautiful country ❤ ♥
It really is! We’d love to go back. Hopefully we’ll be luckier with the weather next time!
Great Vlog and we are now new followers! Looking forward to seeing the rest on the Fjords. 👍
Aw thank you! We’ll definitely check out your channel too as I think this will be the first of many cruises!
Absolutely loved this! I've never fancied a cruise, but your amazing videos are definitely tempting me! The ship looks incredible and the food, out of this world. I can't believe how many places there are to eat. Norway looks really beautiful, despite the rain and you filmed it beautifully, as always. Lovely to see your dad enjoying himself, Ewan - he's a natural on camera 🙂 Thanks for all the incredibly hard work you put into making these videos. I know the long hours and dedication it takes and I would implore anyone reading this to subscribe and show you some love & support - because you really deserve it. Can't wait for the next one. Much love to you both 🙂
We were the same David. A cruise never really appealed to us but we can honestly say we’ve definitely changed our minds and will 100% do another one in the future. We loved not being connected to the internet for the most part of the trip and yes the food was fantastic! Thank you for your kind words. We love creating these videos and look forward to bringing more soon. Enjoy your weekend 😊
Brilliant vlog thanks!
Thanks for watching 😊
New subscribers here, loved this. Having done a few cruises, we can totally agree with your observation about when to go back to the ship, especially one the size of Iona !!! Really pleased to hear you have enjoyed your first cruise 😊
Thank you kindly for subscribing. Definitely check out your channel.😊🙏
Thank you for these blogs, we're due to cruise on Iona in September and find these videos very informative and interesting. Can't wait for the next one.
Thank you!! Glad you’re finding them using helpful and hope you have a great cruise when it comes 😊
I am on Iona September too... This is very useful.
Fantastic video. I'll keep watching for more. We go on this cruise in August 2025. Looking forward to going on IONA, it looks fantastic. Can't wait gor this cruise😊
Thanks for watching 😊 it’s great to have something like this to look forward to. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did. Sure you will!
Thanks and keep the reports coming! I’m on the Aurora doing (probably) the same route, so the shore day information is of particular interest, as are your impressions of the restaurant and entertainment.
Fantastic. How is the Aurora? By the time we bring out the next one you’ll be finished but we enjoyed Olden and Haugesund. Romana did the RIB boat in Haugesund and really enjoyed it. Definitely one to do if you’re an adrenaline junkie! And in Olden it was too wet and overcast to do the skylight sadly but instead we walked up to Hauren viewpoint which was great. We’d love to go back and do it all again in better weather. Hope the sun is shining for you!
Very enjoyable vlog, we love the Fjords and have been twice on Britannia. Our favorite port is Flam which is incredible. Iona looks beautiful and will be our next cruise.
We’d love to go to Flam. We might just have to do another fjord cruise in the not too distant future so that we can explore more of this beautiful region. Have a great time!
Great video guys, thanks so much!
Thank you :)
I walked up there on our cruise in February, wonderful in the snow.
Wow. Snow! Amazing.
Doing this end April so your log was very useful.
So glad this was helpful for you.😊
Thinking of a cruse next year to Norway,I’ve researched Fred Olson and P&O I’m still very undecided. Olson departs from Liverpool while P&O departs from Southampton. Being from N Ireland the departure from Liverpool is easier, more flights. Belfast International to Southampton has just two flights, early morning and late evening.
We hated FO....Love IONA....Been on other cruises
..
Ty for ur vlog,9 of us of to fjords 2nd sept on the iona x 6 of us havent cruised before, cant wait

I'm happy that I came across your videos guys. The cruise has been always on my list, and now I fancy it even more. Can you just tell me, if all entertainment was free?
All the entertainment is free apart from the limelight club. Do it. You won’t regret it.
I'm going on this ship and the same itinerary April 20th, so this was amazing insight into the ship
Do you have to book every restaurant you eat in ??
Thanks for watching. So the only restaurants you don’t need to book is Horizon. Hook line and vinegar. And the few takeaway ones next to it. The quays. Oh and taste 360.
Everything else you should book.
MDR you should get on the waiting list.
All that info is on our All you need to know video.👍
when do you find out what time you arrive in each port out of interest?
A lot depends on weather and conditions but from memory it was always fairly early morning and getting off the boat was around 10am but varied from port to port.
How come you didn’t do the boat trip, was it because of the weather?
We were much later arriving into Stavanger so it would have been too rushed and yes also the weather was really wet.
Going there nit sure i want to weatherpoks terrible and then y cant land
We were just unlucky. Hopefully you wont be!
You don't need sea sickness remedies, the ship has stabilisers...man up
