Kiefer is super adaptable and able to pay both super evil and super nice characters. I have a lot of respect for him as an actor. Not many actors are this adaptable

Thank for uploading the whole movie. I've only seen part's of the movie before, now I know just how good the movie actually is. What a great actor Kiefer actually is, at such a young age. But then again look at who his parents are.
It kinda blows my mind that Isabelle was not a big star or not more well known outside of Canada, she had all the tools for it to work on paper it should of worked it's kinda strange. she does awesome work with mending kids now and has some great interviews on youtube if you want to see what she is doing now, it's just really inspiring, i've talked with her a few times, very cool and nice person.

For me this movie is a jewel,The acting of Liv is unbeliebeble and if it is Kieffer first movie shows he has exelence in his gens,the rest of the actors was more than ok.The agument is so simple and deep that i coudnt stop watching and watching it again,It talks about a family that has deep love and respect one for the other,its not a common thing now a days that allows the son to grow up with much give.The music is remarcable,again a real jewel.

Some stories drop you in the middle of something that has happened and then with a little narration, tell & show how it got to that point . Some will take 20 min to show a variety of people doing subtle things, or various places, or placement of things as a set up for the "when and how" of the story & how it all comes together. There are movies which tell the end or the dilemma and then with expository monologue or as thoughts of the character, or dialogue with another character, how & why of the story then a big "do something about it" scenario for the 3rd act (last half hour) and the end result. Some playwrights may take a slow approach to establishing what's going on, some directors can make mistakes with a plodding pace thinking they're building intrigue and anticipation and deliberately don't add music that will give hint to some surprise to the character or an incidental other character such as a movie with Ving Rhames and Mischa Barton and Luke Goss called Operator ... a GREAT story, not your usual fare! It has a slow, quiet, humdrum start - I had passed and picked a different movie to watch- I thought it boring. It got a lot of bad reviews but people who are so "been there, done that, bored now" are people who tend not to stop and smell the roses, as it were. A lot of no frills or fanfare movies ARE GREAT MOVIES, but they are panned by sophisticates (the OED definition) with jaded minds and expect the world to supply their individual whims. And most are NEVER HAPPY 'BOUT ANYTHING and couldn't say a nice word to save them from Hellfire and Eternal Damnation if it was in their face. So I don't believe anyone's opinion but my own. I'll give any movie 15 minutes, now, to grab me - 20`tops - or I'm out. Some of the best movies ever are the ones not well received on the first go 'round! Myriad of those are my faves! Non- readers are too impatient with the buildup phase of storytelling in film and are quickly dismissive - as I was - in misjudging this particular film , as I was accustomed to the action/thriller genre with its fast pace, at the time. Give a movie at least 15 - 20 minutes to grab you by the brain.... P.S. if it's a young famous actor in a film, it's a "coming of age", "emotional heart strings" or "tragic happening" movie. After 15 min, if nothing exciting has happened it's a "day in the life of" type story or a tale "through the years" of what shapes him into who he/she is. What are you in the mood for?

I really enjoyed this film. Not usually my "kind" of movie but I was most pleasantly surprised.Lived in Halifax, Nova Scotia in the Summer of '66. Baby oil & iodine we used during those days to get a great dark suntan. What a laugh!
Going by the music in the opening I thought the film would be kinda twee, but it's a very beautifully observed and acted film. Very European in flavor. Kiefer Sutherland, Liv Ullman, Peter Donat and the girl playing "Mary Magdalene" - all incredibly natural actors.
"Introducing Kiefer Sutherland..." Is this Kiefer's first movie? I've always loved him, except for his role in a film called 'An Eye For An Eye'. That movie upset me so much, I ran out of the theater in tears just a few minutes into the movie. I was just 17 then and it took awhile of convincing myself that it wasn't him. It was just a movie. He's truly one of the best actors of all time. He's convincing in every role and this one was no different. I'd never seen this film before running across it here. What a beautiful film! 3:10. Greetings from Canada, the country of the film's production. I saw this in college English class. The outdoor scenes of Nova Scotia really are like they didn't change from the 1930s, but right away what struck me was I doubt that those type of telephone line cables on the poles existed back then.

I enjoyed that actress more than Kiefer Sutherland. The only thing I didn't like about this movie was that it falls into what is known and 'maritime literature' which is basically all canadian movies and books tend to portray the maritimes as really shitty places to live where everybody simply wants to get away from it to move to Toronto, which is hardly the case.
Kiefer, sooo much prettier than his dad, who only got interesting looks-wise AFTER he got OLD and hair turned salt&pepper and then he grew the beard . . . Acting was ALWAYS IMPECCABLE.
I arrived in my Dad's birth place, Glace Bay, the day after a hurricane blew half the sets for the movie were blown into the sea! My Dad, Frederick Burns, was one of 17 children, 5 girls, 12 boys. He was a coal miner of age 12, in 1933. The movie director was no less from Glace Bay, making the movie of his childhood! The only thing that has really changed are the vehicles.
This slice of life movie shows how false religious doctrine has been used to lead people and torment people, while the wicked rob us blind. Read the Word and believe it! Christ destroyed religion and revealed false doctrine such as purgatory to be evil. Christ said it is finished on the cross! No more to pay! Christ paid it all! The entire sin debt.
The priests use guilt to control people. As if an all-seeing God can't see our sins himself and need man to interrogate people to find out the sins for him..
Some pretty foul weather in this gem of a film..........almost as much as UK ! Enjoying a Kiefer Double; this + 2002's "Desert Saints", where he plays an assassin.

Yep, hard times in the Maritines.Been up to Cape Breton Island and Halifax in 1975.Like going back in time to the fifties or before.Great people and they even speak Gaelic in Cape Breton at top of island. Call me old-fashioned about some things, but it always creeps me out when they put people who are essentially still children in sexual situations for the sake of film and television. It's seriously borderline kiddie porn to me. I LOVE Kiefer and he's one of my fav actors, but jeeze. 15?! I enjoyed the film overall, but it would have been just as good with simply implied sexuality in that scene featuring...kids. (well, i suspect the actress was older? i don't know...) But I realize my ideas are often labeled antiquated in this world. I don't expect most to agree with me.
