You are welcome. Thank you for asking the question. Glad this was helpful. Definitely talking to a financial planner or tax accountant who is well versed in French tax matters is probably a good idea to make sure you've got all your bases covered.
I had the exact same question because my wife n I after i retire wanted to live in Europe for a year before we decided to sell to make sure it's for us. But then if we sell after become resident of Europe i Didnt realize we would be hit with a huge tax in France or any other EU country. Because as you know when you live in the US you can sell your primary home tax free. But in France or EU one would be hit with a big tax!

Congratulations! September will be here in no time! I'm an ISTJ, believe it or not. But I haven't taken Myers-Briggs in over 20 years.
