“Let’s not sacrifice dental hygiene”
I’m crying 😂 I love your honest reviews - I make my TBR lists from your favorite reads and you haven’t steered me wrong yet!!!!!!!
Haha please 😬 😂 oh I’m so glad to hear that!
Ahahah oh my lord. I'm so sorry, but your rants are my absolute favourite. I love sassy critical PBB.
Haha I’m glad you were able to get enjoyment from my pain 😂
UNPOPULAR OPINION ON MEXICAN GOTHIC: Gothic literature isn't horror literature, so I'm not surprised if people didn't find it scary. As someone who has a bachelor's in literature and working on their masters, I can confidently say that Mexican Gothic is a gothic novel, but I agree, it wasn't so scary. As a Mexican, I was so disappointed with the representation, especially since the author is Mexican. I feel like this story could have been written in so many ways without including English/white characters. Mexico is filled with so much rich history, and as I was reading, I felt like the author didn't do much research. I also felt like she was just name-dropping prominent Mexican figures for the “Mexican points.” My humble opinion on this book: it shouldn't be named Mexican gothic cause it's merely a gothic novel set in Mexico. Very disappointed.
Thank you for sharing your perspective! I didn’t mention it in this video but I did make a note in my goodreads review that I felt the book didn’t seem particularly Mexican, which was such a lost opportunity. The house and its inhabitants are such Anglophiles that it easily could have taken place in England! I would love to read a truly Mexican gothic novel so I’m doing some research into that now ❤️
@@PlantBasedBride I'm so glad others see it the way I did. I didnt want to come off as unappreciated, since this is is a well reviewed book, but this is a giant loss.
Bugger bugger bugger. I wanted glorious Mexican Gothic goodness. In all forms of literature Gothic and horror and such. I got it for $7 so...
Omg okay I’m feeling the same way. “Lotería” and “Pedro Infante” in the same five minutes. I literally rolled my eyes. There’s just so much more to explore....
Right. Gothic novels do not require the reader to be afraid. In fact the best gothic novels do not. Think “the woman in white”. It’s really about suspense.
When you said that Riley Sager is a man I was like WHAT. I absolutely was under the impression that the author was female, probably for the simple reason that all the main characters are female... I totally agree with you on this one
Yup. It really threw me off when I learned that he was a man and had changed his name to something so ambiguous 😬
Hey actually wanted people to think he was a woman at first, but people sniffed him out.
It's a long one this month! 😅 I can't wait to hear your thoughts on all of the books mentioned!! 😊
How does one read 18 boooooooks in one month 😱 my personal bestie 2-3
Edit: so impressive!!!!
This hour has been so relaxing on what has been a bad mental health day for me, thank you ❤
I’m so sorry you’ve had a hard day. I’m glad I could help in some small way ❤️❤️❤️
I love how considered you are with not supporting certain things or authors. I've been watching your videos all Sunday, they're so interesting! & I'm adding some books to my tbr-list, thanks to you. :)
I'm 🤣 at your rant of House of Earth and Blood. The dental hygiene line made me brush my teeth. I was going to read this but that stopped me in my tracks.
Hahaha I’m so glad I could save you from the cringe 😂
I know this is an older video and comment, but I’m catching up on RUclips. I was listening to this on my way to a dental cleaning lol!
@@messybunonabudget8773 I know you asked the hygienist for a deep cleaning after hearing that🤣
I very much appreciate your effort to include trigger warnings and to share your own story. The Midnight Library is on my TBR, but I have put it off due to some of those triggers, but I think I can read it now.
The beginning is definitely the hardest part. It’s ok if it’s not the right time right now ❤️
I usually watch PBB content when I'm starting off my day to feel inspired and productive. But for some reason, bookish videos MUST be enjoyed with tea and a blanket in the evening. I love them!!
Aw yes! Love the cozy vibes ❤️
Same feeling about Crescent City. I DNFed it around 300 pages and only picked it up and stuck with it so long because it’s my best friend’s favorite book.
Upon discussing the book, she remarked that the cursing and “banter” between characters was of “the POV of how someone who was uncool in grade school imagines the cool kids talk to one another” and it was so spot on.
Lol that’s the perfect description 😂
Excellent discussion on all these books! I feel you on Crescent City! That was my least favorite book of 2020. The convoluted world, awkward romance, "bad girl" protagonist, and trying-to-be-edgy prose was so cringey. On a happier note, you increased my interest in The Midnight Library and Caste! Thanks!
Oof yeah it was very much not for me 😅 I hope you get as much from them as I did!
Thank you for not giving individuals with anti-choice views any time on your channel ❤️
We don’t have time for any of that nonsense ❤️
I’m sorry,, but what is anti choice views?
So many books I am deeply intrigued by and am immediately adding to my TBR list.
This might be so weird but I reply your longer videos quite often because your voice is so soothing. Thank you so much for the book reviews but in general thank you for your voice lol 💕
Oh my god I can’t wait to hear your opinion on Song of Solomon! It’s a book a had to read in high school and I went back recently and re-read it and it’s so beautiful... Toni Morrison was such a powerful voice.
Oh I love David Attenborough
It was glorious ❤️
More than one hour of Elizabeth talking about books? Yasssssssss! Excellent video! I added a lot of them to my TBR list! Thank you! 🙏🤗
I hope you love the ones you’ve added! ❤️
I love you so much! And your voice is so calming. I discovered you like one month ago but already fall in love with your work!😋😘
Aw thank you! I’m glad you enjoy it ❤️
I always watch these videos over the span of a couple of days, I really enjoy them:)
I'm so glad you like them! 😊
I haven't read Crescent City but I enjoyed your "rant" immensely! Made me laugh so much!
Same lol. It sounds painfully awful. 🙈
It amazes me how authors and books preferences are so different for everyone. I read my first Margaret Atwood book in January and I was in awe! Thank you for your insight on all those books, I'll definitely pick up a few of them ☺️ I'm a native French speaker and reading in English is helping me a lot to learn the language.
Which one did you read? I’m still hoping to find something I enjoy from her since she’s such a famous Canadian author! But it’s possible her work just isn’t for me 🤷♀️
Just listening to you speak about The Midnight Library just made me want to cry. You are such a beautiful person. I can tell from the way you speak about depression.
Aw thank you! That's such a kind thing to say ❤
we love a long PBB video to chill to
Thank you for taking the time to share your opinions on these titles.
My pleasure!
I am literally wheezing through the entire length of your S.J. Maas review 😭😂
I'm currently reading The House in the Cerulean Sea right now and I'm loving it so far.
I just got my copy and I can’t wait to start!
Don't you dare apologize for long videos, this is the best & most relaxing way to spend a morning 🤗
Aw I’m glad 🥰
I’m so excited while also terrified to hear your thoughts on The House in the Cerulean Sea. It was probably my favorite of all the books (over 200) I read in 2020. Hope you love it!
I liked it more than I thought I would. Although it took me a little bit to get into it. It low key reminded me of a less creepy miss peregrines in a way
I hope I love it, too! I think I will ❤️
an hour long video from one of my fave RUclipsrs?? yes please!!!! 💓💓💓
Aw thanks! I hope you enjoyed it 😊
Watched the whole video - love hearing your opinions! I wish I could read 18 books in one month, I guess I need to prioritise my time better!
I’m glad you enjoyed it! I honestly think that 18 a month is too quick of a pace for me, personally. I’m gonna try to slow down!
omg Elizabeth I love you and your views so much. just... keep being you :) thanks for not even offering a platform to that author that won the humor category and every single other thing you said in this video and others. you're so amazing!
Thank you so much! 😊❤
ahh omg i loved house of earth and blood and we saw this book from completely different viewpoints and i didn't see it like you did .. even though i saw problems in it i could still enjoy it 😅 but this just shows how different our tastes are cause i despised addie larue
Aw haha there you go! It’s so interesting to see how readers interpret/receive books so differently ❤️ I’m glad we both enjoyed one of those, at least 😅
This is a fave of mine but I can see your point as well.
Revisiting this video because I just finished Midnight Library and just. Dang. Wow. Agreed with all your comments!
I adore how you say David Attenborough’s name in your accent! It’s on my must read list he’s a national treasure in the UK we love him! You have definitely helped me I struggle with fiction I prefer science books but after this you have helped me pick some fiction! Your rant was amazing and deffo not on my to be read list lol
I’m glad you’ve been able to get some ideas of books to try from these videos! ❤️
Loved having this video in while I did chores. As much as I enjoy hearing books you loved and are passionate about, I do love hearing you rant about books you didn’t enjoy.
I would normally agree with you about cookbooks - it’s weird to read/review them in this sense. The only exception would be Midnight Chicken by Ella Risbridger. The recipes are great but the reason I love this book is the stories she tells about her life and what food means to her - love, mental health, grief and overcoming challenges. I can guarantee it’s the only cookbook I will ever read and cry in response to and it’s truly beautiful.
I love when a book surprises you by being more touching/impactful than you expected! ❤
was just waiting for this vid to hear you roast crescent city lol I read your goodreads review first and it had me laughing and agreeing 100%
Haha I hope you enjoyed it 😂
I read the first 3 books of the Wayfarer series based on your recommendation and LOVED them, thank you so much! For February I'm reading 'Self-compassion' by Kristin Neff and I'm tempted to start 'To be taught if fortunate' (which I bought because I loved Becky Chambers' style and I'm waiting impatiently for Wayfarer 4!) BUT I ended up skipping far too much sleep to continue reading her other books this month, so I'm nervous 😂
Definitely adding some to my list!
I'd highly recommend the Last Namsara if you haven't read it yet -- it's about a girl who has been told all her life she is evil and wicked for her nature, and how she discovers interesting truths about herself and the world. That character point is really well done, I'm on the sequel right now.
I read a House of earth and blood very soon after it was released, I think you bring up very valid points so I actually really appreciated hearing your thoughts! It made me reflect. I think I was biased because I enjoyed the ACOTAR series so much for Feyre, and I was interested in the world building that I liked the plot itself (not the vulgar language, though...)
Omg I've never been so early. Love you! 💕
haha, 5 min later i'm here
Early squad here 🤗
Really loved the video! It honestly is kind of listening to a book podcast :D I just quickly wanted to let you know, that I enjoyed it much mor, how you talked about the books in this video, meaning you used your own words to talk about them and the plot, instead of reading out the pre-written text. I hope you can understand what I mean, I am just missing the right words right now :D
That’s great to know! Thank you for the feedback 🤗 I thought I’d try it out this way and I think I enjoy it more, too!
You are an amazing and inspiring woman! What is your reading speed? I would love to read at least one book per month- with notes.
Marvelous job, as usual!
Thank you so much! ❤️
I just finished watching the whole video without skipping nor speeding up ^_^ It took 3 breakfasts and it was well worth it!
You're the best! I'm flattered that you wanted me for company for breakfast three days in a row 😊
your crescent city review is absolutely hilarious, i had a great time listening to that rant and i now swear to never read this book🤣
Hahaha I'm glad I could save you the wasted time 😂
Can you do a video sharing the platforms you use to read your books and how they work and all of that? I’ve always bought the physical version but it’s not a cheap or realistic way to meet my reading goals. Thank you 🤍
I have them linked in the description box if that helps!
I’m really glad you brought up the issue of male authors writing under ambiguous pen names. I first read Riley Sager’s ‘Final Girl’ and found the main character a bit off (some weird comments about what women should and shouldn’t like, what they should wear etc) and that’s when I found out the author was male. It seems disrespectful especially as historically women needed ambiguous pen names to get their work published. Working in a bookstore around the time of ‘Gone Girl’, it also seems like a cash grab as they seemed to crop up after that.
If you ever make a video about sci-fi books for people who have never read one, I would be super interested. Also, I didn't know the 'man writing under an almost woman name' was a thing!
I've been watching your beautiful videos all this year (your review convinced me to buy acrylographs for my mom and husband for the holidays), and when I saw this, I thought OH NO I WON THAT WHAT IF SHE HATED IT. But yeah, with a third book in a trilogy. So I avoided the hammer...this time.
Oh wow, hi! I often forget how small the internet is 😂 I’m so glad you’ve been enjoying my videos (and I hope your mom and husband love the acrylographs)! ❤️
The Kingdom of Copper by S. A. Chakraborty and The one by John Marrs were my favorite books in January.
I really enjoyed The One when I read it last year! I haven't heard of the other one, though 😊
To answer your question, I've re-read Skulduggery Pleasant by Derek Landy in January, I want to read the full series in English. Years ago I read the first 3 books, which was translated to danish, but for some reason, the rest of the series was not translated. I wanted to start over and read it all in English to be sure I had all the names right.
In February I'm reading a Swedish book, from 1954, translated to English it is called "In overalls and clerical garb". It is a book about faith and religion, why it is important and also a book about identity, being true to oneself even when it sticks out in society. I like it so far. I read so slowly, I don't think I can read more than this one book this month. Though I am an author myself with 2 publishing under my belt, I still am very dyslectic. I also suffer from anxiety and always want to be in control, so any form of subjecting myself to the mercy of others will, by for example reading their books or watching a movie I have no control over, is very triggering to me. But I try and I succeed with every book I read, even if that might only be 1 book pr. month. :)
I came in thinking I would just watch a bit of this, but I ended up watching the whole thing. 😂😅☺️🥰
I am still working my way through this video as I type this but I’m in love with your sweater and wanted to know if you remember where you got it!
Aw thanks! It’s secondhand but the tag is from Asos 🤗
I have no intention on reading House of Earth and Blood but your rant was amazing.
Still really frustrated that To Sleep In A Sea Of Stars beat Harrow the Ninth. Can I give a sincere recommendation for it? (It's the second of a trilogy, the first is Gideon the Ninth. Third part is due for next year.) I've also heard incredible stuff about third place, which is part of the Murderbot Diaries.
I adore Attenborough
Thank you! It was a lot 😅 oh, I’ve heard a lot of good things about Gideon the ninth. I have it on my TBR! I’ve also started the murderbot diaries but I have to keep going with the series 🤗
From blood and ash is one of my favorites, but i do have to say that it is quite typical YA fantasy.
Good to know!
That Sarah Maas book sounds a LOT like barely edited Lost Girl fanfic, based on your description! 😂
For those that are interested, Holly Black’s The Folk of the Air series (which includes The Queen of Nothing) is INCREDIBLE. If you like fae folk stories 10/10 recommend.
I normally don’t read fiction, but I read the midnight library because like you I wanted to read the GoodReads winners. After going through some of the same aspects that Nora was going through and having very similar regrets, I gotta say this book helped me out so much! Getting though the beginning of the book was really hard and I honestly recommend to anyone reading it who’s suffered from depression to have a buddy or someone there to help them get through it just in case it does trigger something. But in the end it was totally worth it.
AND me and Hugo share a last name! It’s the very first time I’ve ever found a character in a book that does 😂
I felt the same! A rough start to get through but so worth it in the end. And I second the suggestion for a buddy to help with support ❤️ and that’s so fun! I don’t think I’ve ever read a character with my last name 😅
@@PlantBasedBride it was weird! I really meet other humans with my last name and since I was listening to the audiobook at some points when I heard is name read as the title of the chapter I was left like 👀
But yeah I had to stop and call my fiancé at various points through the start of the book just to be able to keep going, but totally worth it at the end. This is definitely going to be one of my favorite books of the year!
@@PlantBasedBride also, I LOVED From Blood and Ash but I also enjoyed Crescent City soooooo take what you will from that 😂 They’re pretty similar in plot which is enemies to lovers with a “badass” heroine who’s trying to figure out who’s killing people etc etc but I do think the Poppy/Hawke love story felt less forced and it’s waaaay better than Bryce/Hunt (imo)
We have Antiracist Baby and A is for Activism for our so far 8 month old, I feel like it gives good steps for how short it is.
Also, I can't stand using medical diagnoses as adjectives! Well, unless the person has the diagnosis and uses it to describe how they feel
I think that ACOTAR is also a new adult series by SJM, I have no idea why they would ever try to sell it as YA. I adore her books, but I’m aware of their flaws so it doesn’t surprise me anymore when I see people dislike them. We’re all entitled to our opinions 🙌🏼❤️
Totally! There are lots of books I love that don’t work for everyone and that’s fine ❤️
February reading goals, work through my reading: The Count of Monte Christi, Ben Hur, epic of Eden. And if I get those done Murder on the orient express, Oliver Twist, and Church history by Eusebius
Oo nice list! Do you typically focus on Classics?
@@PlantBasedBride pretty much, i feel there is a reason that these books are books that have survived. And I find them to have more to say about humanity then much of modern fiction. Modern fiction in my opinion is philosophically shallow, and far to influence by Marxism. Plus’s classics are easy to get a hold of, you just have to go to librivox to get a free audio book.
I've started Eusebius! It's one I like to read when I'm in the mood for it. Or a good resource.
I'm a writer myself and am currently working on a fantasy novel. Hearing bad reviews of other books in the same category as my work makes me super nervous but also inspires me to where I need to look at my own work. I haven't read any of these books, actually. I'm not on good reads and I'm such a slow reader I can only read 1 book pr. month cause it just takes me forever. Also, I write in danish and therefore try to read mostly danish literature to keep my nose in the track of what I'm personally doing. I love your videos so much and I loved to hear your opinion, I'd be scared to have you read one of my books. Not that I think I do any of the things you spoke ill about, but I think it's hard to see the sins one commit unintentionally. Now I need to go and work on my characters, make sure they have dimension and also make sure the romances are not hamfisted and unnecessary.
I certainly don’t want to discourage anyone! And so many people have the complete opposite opinion to me on these books 😅 it’s all in our own individual preferences and expectations!
@@PlantBasedBride I know and you certainly don't discourage me 😄 I think all your points are very valid 🥰
This is not related but I just wanted to thank you for your discount code on Archer and Olive, I was finally able to make my first ever purchase with them and shipping to my country is already high, so your code was a savior!! :) :) :)
Oh how exciting! I hope you love what you got ❤️
@@PlantBasedBride thanks!!!! 😍😍🥰
I think my favorite book of last month was The House in the Cerulean Sea which I read for another book club. I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on it!
I'm hoping I love it!
Wow, that video was a long one but I made it through and found a lot of books to add to my TBR list, so thanks :D
I haven't read a lot of sci-fi books, and I was wondering if you have any recommendations for a good book to start exploring the genre?
What genres do you typically enjoy? I have lots of potential recommendations!
@@PlantBasedBride i enjoy a lot of crime novels and some mystery books too. So I guess i like books that have mystery and surprising twists.
Recommending Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo, its got great spooky vibes, i’d love to hear your thoughts on it 👍🏻💜
I’ve looked into the trigger warnings for that one and I don’t think it’s for me!
She *did* end up reading it in 2024! 🤷♀️😅
It’s THREE years later, and I still haven’t gotten through Crescent City! 🤣🤣🤣 I’ve tried a few times, I paid a lot for it, and people love it, and I was a fan of her earlier series when they came out, but man this one is just BAD!!!
i really enjoy from blood and ash, but I'm a huge Sarah J Maas fan and this is in the same vein. its more fantasy then romance i think but there is a love story in it.
Good to know!
Recommendation for creepy house vibes/a book within a book/multiple timelines: House of Leaves :) (some parts are very brutal)
I'm currently reading it! Just taking it very slow haha
@@PlantBasedBride yeah, it takes a while :D I'm excited to hear what you think about it!
have you ever read infinite jest? i'm (slowly) trying to make my way through it
I haven't! I don't think I've heard of it.
Please read the aeronaut's windlass by Jim Butcher! It's a steampunk fantasy novel and it's so great. Also it's very character-focused
I haven't read it, but I've looked at it. Wasn't it supposed to be a trilogy? Or am I wrong? I kept looking for more books to be published.
@@jessezigg I think so. The end of the book really feels like a bigger adventure is about to happen and I was so hyped for more. But there aren't more books to the series. And it's years ago so it will probably never happen :(
o how youd hate this soul of mine
I watched the whole video btw and i really like the way you review books
I absolutely love your honest reviews! And by the way I don't mind them being that long. Many books of those you liked are on my TBR-List :D Thank you for being so honest and sensitive about certain topics!
What book or series would you suggest for an adult who hasn't read any fantasy?
Oo it depends! What genres do you usually lean towards/enjoy?
Whats your fave thriller? Im such a thriller junkie but will read just about anything.
Paolini has always been in need of hiring a new editor but seeing as how this is his siiiiixth work? They might just think it’s a style choice
OH MY GOD THANK YOU. I love Sarah J Maas; I read ACOTAR and TOG recently and I was SO DISAPPOINTED in her for exactly ALL of the reasons you said. I stayed up until 4 finishing this book and stayed up until 5 writing a THOROUGH review on Storygraph and finding reviews that would make me feel better. The amount of positive reviews on House of Earth and Blood was shocking. The only thing I liked about this book was the last 30% and it was a SLOG to get there. I can only imagine it was 1000000x worse as an audiobook. Your description of it being a 14 y old just swearing for the sake of swearing. I feel so vindicated with this review haha. Thank you. Now off to listen to the rest of this video XD
Hahaha oh no I’m so sorry you had to go through the same pain 😭 it was just so hard to get through 😬
How do the read-a-thons work? I read very slowly and sometimes social things help me finish tasks like reading
Each one is different, but usually it’s reading based on a specific theme and prompts over a certain period of time. Check out the links to the videos explaining the two I was thinking of that are in the description!
@@PlantBasedBride Ok so I think I'm too late in the month and too slow a reader to participate in Blackathon at this time, but Lakewood by Megan Giddings has been STARING AT ME so I guess I'll start it!
32:00 Thank you for NOT supporting authors with ignorant or hateful personal views!!! This makes me like your channel even more. 👏👏
Thank you! We have no time for that nonsense. ❤
Your review of "Such a fun age" by Kiley Reid reminds me of an 1960's movie "Guess who's coming for dinner". It's a similar premiss of addressing or challenging "pro-liberal" individuals when confronted with black issues they supposibly support. I thought it was really well done.
I saw that movie as a child but I haven’t seen it since! Might be interesting to give it a rewatch.
I'm a little confused, is the comment on schizophrenia for the review on Steal like an Artist or The Night Swim? I thought I saw it on the card for The Night Swim but it was mentioned at the end of the Steal like an Artist review. I'm assuming it's for The Night Swim (from context) but want to double check
It happens in both, bafflingly enough. And I read them back to back so it was a very unwelcome coincidence.
Oh jeez, well that's good to know! Thanks for clarifying!
No problem! ❤️
even though i haven't read any of these books, it was a great video to watch
I'll check it out!
18 books... in a month... and i struggle to read 4 😳
I had to force myself to read at a very quick pace to get it done. I don’t recommend! I’m a lot happier around 8-10 a month, basically two a week.
can you read Yuval Noah Harari's books ? Homo sapience, homo deus and 21 lessonsi really wanna watch that , thanks
I’ve read Homo Sapiens! I haven’t read any of his other work, though.
Have you read Eragon from Christopher Paolini?
I haven’t! I wonder if it would be worth reading as an adult 🤔
@@PlantBasedBride I read that series and really enjoyed it but I was in 5th/6th grade at the time hahah
@@PlantBasedBride I'm really not sure. I loved it but I was 10 back then. But my mother read it as an adult and loved it so maybe
The world building in eragon is immense. I'm 22 and I still love rereading this series
I came here for the rant about House of Earth and Blood 😁
I hope it was worth it 😂
Popular opinion: The award lists are often not good representations of the literary scene. They represent the weird world which is the world of 'le critics.
Also, yes. You made my Sunday morning with this video. Loved listening to all of it.
Definitely agree! I’m glad you enjoyed it ❤️
I do not think you would have liked From Blood and Ash. I haven’t read any Sarah J. Maas, but from your rant of Crescent City I’d say both books suffer from similar problems.
I wouldn’t wish that 600+ page of chaos on you, but a microscopical part of me does just so I could watch the rant later.
Lol I was worried about that from the description. It’s just not my thing, y’a know? 😅
I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way about Maas in general. Not sure why her books are (still) so popular. Her writing just isn't good, in my opinion. I feel like people who are new to the fantasy genre would like it because they don't know enough about high fantasy or world/character building. To each their own though.
Heartstopper is supercute!
I hope to get the first volume from my library soon!
@@PlantBasedBride I actually read the start of these books on Tumblr, every new panel that the artist uploaded was even better then the previous one :D
I’ve been wanting to get more into audiobooks so I can multitask and be more productive but idk where to start 😅
If anyone has any recommendations I would definitely appreciate it 😌
Highly recommend! Are you looking for tips about where to get them/getting into audiobooks in general or did you want book suggestions that have nice audiobook recordings?
@@PlantBasedBride suggestions ☺️
me, listening, nodding, then hearing ALPHA HOLE: *stops typing, staring straight forward*
i'm
oh no
LOL sounds like we had the same reaction 😂
What are your thoughts on female authors writing male protagonists? I write my protagonists however they are to me. Sometimes they're men. I'd hate for you to think that it's done as a marketing ploy.
It’s a combination of male authors changing their names to be assumed female, writing solely female protagonists, and writing them badly that feels weird to me. They are purposefully trying to attract women as a reader base by pretending to be/allowing their audience to assume that they are women, as well, without doing the work to represent women the way we deserve. Just writing characters of genders other than your own isn’t an issue, though obviously the research/effort put in to making them feel like real humans is appreciated!
I was gonna read crescent city but after that statement about dental hygiene and listing to your rent I am so not gonna read it...
Haha yeah there’s some questionable content in there for sure 👀
I do not recommend you read Jennifer l armentrout as she was compared to sjm I got her from blood and ash series on audible I listened to 3 books of the series and it kept getting worse and making less since the farther I went. I DNF'ed the series in the 3rd book. It's a smut with a little storyline tossed in.
I love monsters like this! #teamlongvideos
Haha happy to oblige! ❤️
Regarding Nathan Pyle, I was incredibly disappointed to hear about his views on abortion. After it came out, however, he did say that he very much believes in a woman's right to choose, votes democratic, just him and his family would never personally choose abortion. Obviously, make your own decision in terms of who/what you support, but wanted to throw that out there. Thanks for the reviews!
So glad you didn’t like The Guest List. I didn’t care who died or whodunnit. Finished it but almost didn’t.
Yeah, same. It didn't grab me at all!
Oh, wow. Of course I had to look up the humor winner and then the Wikipedia page for that person. I had NO idea. It’s a shame I’m going to have to cancel them.
I loved his comics before I learned that. But my motto is “no uterus no opinion” and anti-choice views are a serious issue when it comes to the bodily autonomy and basic human rights of people with uteruses. I won’t waste my time supporting people who don’t think I have the right to make decisions about my own body!
@@PlantBasedBride totally agree. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.
A few years ago I read A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas and I didn't like the whole series a lot because the characters seemed all too perfect and too handsome. They were like hundret years old but acted like teenagers. And no main character died even though there were a war. It was just unrealistic and I don't want to read about perfect characters because that's unrealistic too. In the end everyone of them got a love interest but it seems like the author shipped them a bit too much. I think all in all the character were stereotypes and I didn't like that
