  • In this video, you'll see and see my adventures in Guyana which is my country #38 in my quest to visit all 193 UN-recognized countries around the world. My time in Guyana is the most insane travel experience I've ever had in my life. I ended up taking a van to Georgetown from Lethem and turns out the driver that drove me and the passengers were a smuggler. He was caught by a police checkpoint in the middle of the jungle at 2am at night leaving myself and the other passengers stranded. We were attacked by mosquitoes that lay an egg inside your skin and if you scratch it off, you'll have an open wound for a week. If you don't scratch it off, then the eggs will hatch. The only way out of this jungle area was to get lucky and hitchhike the next morning.

Next time you go to Guyana, check your research. Check out Guyana trips and tours. You must of been there a long time ago. There are small planes that take you in the rainforest etc. Guyana has mature since then and is not the same country it used to be when it was ruled by the British. It is no longer a third word country. Because of its riches the Country is very rich in its modern day necessities. It has gold, diamonds, lots of oil, fresh fruits, herbs, farms etc. Check out Guyana newly built modern airports etc. You will be surprise. There are highways to drive to its neighbouring Countries. Check out Guyana by Preston Manning a man from England.

I was in Guyana 12 months ago. Afro Guyanese tend to call my race WHITE BOY! The Indo-Guyanese have good resturants in Georgetown but its funny when you hear them talk in Creole .
Georgetown is pretty dangerous. In broad daylight I was hasstle to buy a BUM some food in a cafe. Security kicked him out
Also my Indo-Guyanese hotel owner tired to double charge me when I had paid on arrival.

I’m late to this video, but had to comment. First; let me apologize for some of my people in Guyana; when they refer to people by the race they assume them to be; “China” “whiteman” and other seemingly derogatory terms, it’s not meant as racist, some of the not so educated people of my country, are not aware of “political correctness” An educated Guyanese would never address you in that manner. Even in their own communities, these people refer to each other as “ blackie” and “coolie boy” “buck boy” etc., and neither party sees it as offensive. I know how you feel about not being addressed as just a human being, I do not like it either. Guyana is going to have to start educating our under educated people about this problem. Again I’m so sorry for your experience. Please give Guyana another chance. BTW you could have just said “big guys” instead of “big black guys” but I get it. And yes, traveling is different for backpackers. Love always.
