  • filmed in 1975. Talks about the origins and history of East Peoria, Illinois. Video footage shows buildings and structures and streets that no longer exist today. A lot has changed in the 42 years since this film was made. Video length is about 45 minutes long. There is a portion that has no audio for about 3 minutes, then it comes back.
Video provided by Chris Cates, former East Peoria Police Department officer. Michael Bush, an attorney out of Morton, Illinois, but grew up in East Peoria, was able to get it digitized so that it can be shared online. Not the best quality video, but not bad considering it came from an 8mm tape.

I worked on this production while I was in high school at EPCHS! My primary contribution was the map graphics that appear at various points. I was present for much of the location photography and that's me onscreen at 43:35. Thank you for finding and posting this.

Watching this from my home in Sharpsburg GA. Born and raised in Peoria but my grandparents lived on Leroy Ave in East Peoria next to the high school.

So glad I stumbled upon this! Thank you for all the work of digitalizing and putting it on youtube! I grew up in EP and lived 2 houses down from Mr. Maushbal (sorry if I miss spelled it) I did not know a lot of the old history which is kind of sad but it was the 70s progress and looking ahead was the norm, Plus I was a kid. Now most ironically this is history in and of itself.

Does anyone remember a time capsule that was buried on July 4 1976 in Fondulac Park under a large rock next to Springfield Road and a large square water tank at ground level with city water. I always wondered if they dug it up. It has been over 40 years ago.
