Started listening to house music back in 1987 because I wanted to hear what all the fuss was about at the time, but the jury was still out. However, the moment I heard this track, I was hooked. Box Energy is the track that sealed the deal for me, and I've been a househead ever since.
anyone know where to find a digital download of this? Got this on an old acid trax vinyl but it's awful sound quality. All the "original" mixes of this that I can find are NOT this version.
If you can find a download of Terry Farley - Acid Rain (Definitive Original Acid And Deep House 1985-1991), it's on there. Can't seem to find it anywhere else www.discogs.com/release/4693509-Terry-Farley-Acid-Rain-Definitive-Original-Acid-And-Deep-House-1985-1991
What's interesting, moreover, is realizing how -- notable exceptions like Squarepusher or Aphex Twin notwithstanding -- tracks from every EDM style throughout the history of EDM contain certain concrete shared elements, such as e.g. the arrangement of snare hits in this track (currently listening, at 2:50), which are not only very distinct, but also notably absent from tracks produced in other epochs of the style. You are right, however; it sounds both spartan and pedestrian by today's standards. Nostalgia has its place, as long as it doesn't interfere with the perception of reality -- which is why I personally have had Planet Purge, part 2 (Midnight Tyrannosaurus/EH!DE) on continuous auto-loop ever since I first heard the track, myself.
zszabo2000 What’s even more interesting is how it goes further back to artists like Kraftwerk and Raymond Scott who actually were the original and legit pioneers of electronic music.
God bless DJ Pierre 💁♂️

The best acid house song - hands down.
Awesome profile pic!
What about Humanoid's "Stakker Humanoid"?
its the kind of music that if your on the bus listening to,then take your headphones off,you realize how dull everything is.
ur comment is so on point
u nailed it!
or even worse... you still hear the music ... even without headphones on... well I do anyway.
Yep!
Wooooooo!!!! Walls are starting to sweat 😅😅😅 can't move my body to this like I used too but my 56 year old mind and heart rate is up
This track changed the direction my life went. Very glad 🙏❤
Say this over and over and over. That slithery snake 🐍. Man it took me out to space

Pure acid stomper which sounds as fresh as ever.
I’ve been listening to and making acid since I was a teen and I just found out my gf has been calling acid “swamp music” since like 2009 lmao
It's 2021 and this track sounds like 2050
This reminds me of chewing a piece of gum.. You really get into the nom , nom , nom 😋 😅
GOD, APHEX TWIN DID A GREAT JOB ON THIS
He certainly did. It's far superior to the 808 State remix in my opinion.
boxenergy remix goes so fucking hard it's unbelievable
listening while making pizza. this pizza will be very good...
haha noticed i made another comment here 4 years ago
@@sssnacksss Was the pizza good?
looks like something I'd read on tumblr
And acid purged the world of the underground.
The r/OldElectronicMusic subreddit brought me here!

Timeless, still good in 2199
Wow 😍🤩
Love this tune!!!!!
so tasty. I can drink a cup of this a day.
oooh yeah one o the best acid tunes to date 4 me good memories
Is it any wonder why this music changed an entire generation in the UK? too bad I was only 7 years old, and 3,500 miles away.
I love
the acid that fell to earth
The soundtrack that forms in your head after a heroic dose
still sounds good in 2019.
So damn good!
I heard Pierre used a Behringer TD-3
It's actually a Roland TB-303. TD-3 is just a remaster of the TB-303
TOP!
How can you not melt to this on the dance floor?
"melt" is the PERFECT word for this
1:28 mm2 roblox players know that sound.

did DJ pierre go under the name of PIERRE first, as i do recall some electro records made by someone called PIERRE released in 1984

AFX version was better.
both are great
@@jennamorticia2242 no u
That’s because AFX is an actual producer compared to Pierre
I just heard this AFX version it sounds terrible it sounds like the music is having a seizure it sounds stupid.
@@maxmasters9660 at least I have hair your probably old rusty and have a receding hairline
This shit just sounds tacky and stale in this day and age.

I disagree, for me this is timeless music... 303 and a drum machine will always make people dance
