Wow! Awesome.. I havent been on RUclips in awhile..Fantastic.. I like the different feel or time signature they are using...different from the album...really beautiful... fantastic as always.
I bought the album in 78 and have never been the same. Rypdal's music is the next step after Jimi. It is a shame westerners don't understand or are not exposed. Clapton and Robertson don't hold a candle, Robertson is closest but lacks the depth.
I'm surprised you pick Robertson. About Clapton . . . Cream and post-Cream is the first question cuz they seem to be two different beasts. What do you think of Eric Johnson's and Stevie Ray Vaughan's ability to cover Hendrix standards?
@@grantjohnson7129 For whatever reason the fire isn't there, the spirit. Do they stand on their own? Maybe but knowing the original like the back of your hand it's hard to accept second-hand thoughts. That's why Terje is so important, he's fresh, original but from the same fire.
@@gilbertsatchell6866 I think I made myself misunderstood or your defending yourself for no reason. I wasn't challenging your thoughts. Is it EJ and SRV that you say lack fire? Clapton I'd never compare to Hendrix. For the record Rypdal has been my topman for forty years. Just glad to meet a fellow admirer.
I did not know about Swedish jazz... I thought of beat-generation , the heritage from telonius monk through parker etc. and then the 50s in New Orleans. And then by chance I discovered Swedish jazz that OMG is mesmerising. How did jazz developed in Scandinavia? I mean, of course it can happen anywhere in the world, but it sound different from other things I heard, different influences. Some psychedelia too. Maybe pink floyd time. This is amazing.
I love the Odyssey band - so mysterious and dark sounding.
Ich habe das damals im Jahre 1975 auf Radio Bremen gehört! Es ist eine der besten Aufnahmen, die Terje Rypdal je gemacht hat.
Hast du den video von Molde 75 gesehen?

Rypdal have nothing top do with Clapton's blues or Robertson C&W sort of. Rypdal is closer to Philip Catherine on Allan Holdsworth.
