So let me get this straight: This movie is about Morrissey before he joined The Smiths but Johnny Marr’s character is on it too but none of their songs is played. Weird commercial strategy from the producers! lol

Don't bother to watch it,a waste of time,if it wasn't reported abd promoted as being about the smiths/ morrissey, you'd never know that it had anything to do with him or them,terrible movie
I don't know what Morrissey Will hate more this film or everyone saying England is my city comments.
The energy and point-of-view of this trailer, has a feel that's very inconsistent with the Morrissey and The Smiths that we've come to know through the music and his own disclosure over the decades. Maybe they're trying to market this to a broader audience, or perhaps the story's POV is deliberate. All I know is that if it didn't literally say in the clip, "Stephen Patrick Morrissey," I would have had no idea that this movie would be about him.

boring as hell movie trailer. Also, there's been 10 other movies about bands in their beginning stages in the last 10 months. It must be quite challenging to set them apart from each other. Basically, they can only snag a little bit of the fanbase from each band. But most of the bands are a little dated now and the fanbases are naturally fading (quite literally dying off). So perhaps they're trying to make this a little more marketable to a broader audience like you say. But yeah, looks poorly done. Probably at the bottom of my list of "band's early days" movies (though I'll not see any of them, really)
Roman Seano ~ this film focuses on morrissey's childhood before he was able to get serious about music & eventually leading up to him meeting marr & that's how the movie ends ~ this is not a movie about the smiths
Yeah, I think we all got that from watching the trailer, Tracy. That really doesn't have anything to do with my comment or the subsequent replies up until yours.
Roman Seano ~ my point was just that this is not a movie about a band or a band's beginning per se ~ some people seem to think it's a bio of the smiths or just another movie about just another band that's apparently been being shoved down our throats for the past 10 months or so ~ it's really not important what i think or what anybody else thinks ~ if you want to see the film then go see it & if you don't want to see it then skip it because it makes absolutely no difference ~ good day

James Maker, S.P. Morrissey's best friend, was left out of the story, so don't expect to really learn much about how Mozzer's life really was before The Smiths. Most biopics are guilty of inaccuracies, but they don't usually omit characters who are so important to the main character's story. I'll watch it for its entertainment value.
Maker lived in London, while Morrissey lived in Manchester. They definitely were friends but he's not a difficult addition to cut given that. Their interactions were not frequent enough.
If they showed the "first Smiths" gig maybe James would be featured along with his high heels!

I really tried to watch this film, it got to 2/3s into it and it hadn’t clicked out of first gear. Quite possibly one of the worst films I’ve ever watched, with the main actor as dull as dishwater. A total injustice to Mozza.

I really enjoyed this movie, except for the part where Morrissey curb stomps an elderly Pakistanian grocer while screaming, "England is mine!" Did that actually happen?

Linder Sterling, one of Morrissey's closest friends, is/was stunning! Billy Duffy the guitarist of The Cult is not dissimilar looking to the guy who plays him, Morrissey's mother was bloody gorgeous when she was young! You should Google her, Elizabeth (Betty) Morrissey ( known later as Dwyer after the divorce) and Mozzer himself, pretty good looking!
