Just met this Legend today! He was getting eggs and some snacks from the local CVS.. I was so stoked. He even took a picture with me. Was worried I was going to meet the angry old man, but he was quite pleasant. Thanks again for taking that photo with me Mr. Blackmore.
I have listened to all forms of music and rock ‘n’ roll. I cannot think of one single person who can even hold a candle to Richie Blackmore. This man is a musical genius, the-likes we haven’t seen since Beethoven, Bach, Brahms, or Chopin. This man is a musical great he not only plays the guitar, but so many other instruments, and in so many genres.
Best, OK, great for you to of seen him. Although this is bandied about with so many serious younger fans, that connotation is so irreverent to the meaning of the word and way overused. Ask them if they are godlike, go ahead. How about how Clapton really felt about calling him a 'God'? With the best guitarists, in their most poignant or most egotistical moods, they will NOT agree. Instead, Blackmore, for one, would be the first to find that moniker totally repugnant and disgusting and hotly tell you so - and he should.
Saw him four times with the purple. One time, all four members of deep purple were coming out of the stadium In detroit going into a limo and I was standing right there. It still feels like a dream. Richie looked right in my eyes!

I love all his work but knocking at the back door is the most melodic lead I have ever heard. The lead at the end of the song, you don't want it to ever end. Your like don't stop now!
Когда Ричи журналист спросил о его месте среди топ-гитаристов мира, он подумал и сказал, что вначале идёт он сам, потом долго никого нет, а потом идут все остальные))
@onkelmarvin8360 Too many people aren't even aware of the big difference and how spot on you are. No relation to pseudo-rock bands like Iron Maiden, Pearl Jam, etc. So many fans think that is a compliment when it's actually an insult to the 'hard' and 'heavy' true rock bands and fine musicians that came before them and the frantic, overblown heavy metal style.
A lot of mistakes here show that the content creator is far from a rock and roll historian. At 3:43, Jimmy Page is the guy on the left, not Blackmore. At 7:44, while the video is focused on Deep Purple, the short guy on the right is Ronny James Dio, one of the Rainbow singers, who was never a Deep purple vocalist. Also, the narrator mispronounces the first name of Yngwie Malmsteen, (should be pronounced as Ingvey) as well the first name of as Jens Johansson, which should be pounced as Yens.
You caught all that and missed how he fucked up Ian Gillan's last name??? I guess there are too many boogers to count in this one... Apparently the narrator thought trying to sound like Eddie Trunk would make him more believable...lmao!!!
You got it. At 6:47 that's Bernie Torme, Ritchie and Ian Gillan from the earlier Gillan days before Bernie left. And earlier when the narrator is talking about wives, he shows Candace who probably wasn't even born at the time. But all in all an interesting post. Plus the pic that drew me in....is he not married to Candace anymore? For those who do not know most of it it's a mish mash of info of Blackmore.
I’m writing the following as a fan, to redress some of the inaccuracies videos like this throw forward. Ritchie said recently that he and the current members of Deep Purple “are friends now” (including guitarist Steve Morse, who has just had to retire from Purple ... and of course the late Jon Lord, whom he saw socially before his death) He said he wouldn’t be averse to playing with Purple ... for the fans who want to see this happen, as a one off. Deep Purple have been a very successful productive unit for the 28 years since Ritchie left the band ... mid tour. I gather this was because he was so unhappy playing rock music, at that time. Purple have had three No 1 albums, in Germany and beyond over the past decade ... have toured worldwide to packed arenas ... as they did last week. IMO they are the most underrated band in rock history. Proof? ... It took decades for the “Rock and Roll hall of Fame ... to induct them ... and only because the biggest rock band in the world ...Metallica, called them out. Lars - “They were just better than everyone else” I was a fan way before seeing Ritchie live in 1972 on the Machine Head tour. Still the best live musical experience I’ve ever had. As a performer/guitarist few come close IMO. Ritchie’s favourite is Jeff Beck, whom he feels is the best rock player ... “He has notes on his guitar, which I don’t have on mine” . For what it’s worth, I’ve seen Jeff live twice and once in stellar form. They both have “it” ... whatever that intangible quality is, which great players have. I of course don’t know Ritchie, however, no one could have the career he’s had, if he actually WAS the image that he projects. He’s talked about having a physical/emotional breakdown due to overwork ... 6 American tours in 1971-72. Who wouldn’t? He even suggested Purple employ another guitarist for subsequent shows. His projected persona (mask) is a coping strategy possibly. Purple were allegedly done over financially and didn’t see all of the money they should have earned over their career. Ultimately Ritchie has never been in it just for money/fame IMO. He’s a musician/artist first and foremost as far as I can discern. He has openly said that he projects a moody image and doesn’t do band press interviews/promotion as his way of remaining balanced in what can be a crazy industry. No one could have had the success he has had, been happily married with many children over the past few decades and continue to record and play live, to arenas full of fans ... without being a relatable human, with I’m sure, the common challenges and eccentricities we all have. Hope to see Blackmore’s Night live when they next tour. The concert was cancelled due to Candice having flu when I last tried to see them. Have fond memories of queuing for a refund behind fans dressed as Friar Tuck Maid Marion and Robin of Sherwood. 😀
Lemmy told a story of Blackmores Revenge over a roadie over something unknown but how Ritchie & Co allegedly plied this guy with Acid , taped him up , stripped him naked & somehow dumped him on a ferry boat from England bound for freezing Norway. 🏴👍

Wow! that is 10 minutes of my life that I'll never get back. Did you know that Ritchie used to play in Deep Purple? I know; crazy, huh.... incase you've been living in a hole for the past 50yrs... with fingers in your ears.... on Mars! And that he sometimes doubles for Jimmy Page, apparently. Not liked, not shared, no subscribed and no clicking of any bells for future videos...
What I don’t understand is that Ritchie Blackmore being one of the greatest guitarists of all time, and has produced a record and toured every single year non stop since forming deep purple, went on to do rainbow, back with purple and then Blackmore’s knight and he only has a net worth of 16 million, when other guitarists like Beck, Page, Clapton, Iommi all are well over 100 mil.. I don’t get it with all the music he has done and all the shows too….
And how'd they cram all those huge rooms into that dumpy little house? That part of the video, at least, was funny. Can you imagine Ritchie living in a castle of that ilk? lol
These “best of” lists are ridiculous. The judges aim to include, artists who are women, from different musical genres, as well as people from races, countries, and decades. They include those who were great innovators, played complex music, were great songwriters, tricksters, and various other irrelevant classifications and considerations. Sure Chuck Berry was a great innovator but as a soloist he isn’t in the conversation. Neil Young came up with great riffs and is a brilliant songwriter but as a guitarist - he’s a hack. Yet both typically rank higher than Blackmore in the “best of” lists. Blackmore is fast, clean, melodic, dynamic, and majestic. He’s great at improvisation, he’s imaginative, he understands harmony and incorporates classical, folk, rock and funk elements into his solos. His vibrato and tone are unmatched. When your talking about command of the instrument and pure ability on guitar - he has few peers.
