From an LSU fan, I must admit Saban is the best college FB coach in America. Nobody else comes close. I wish had stayed at LSU and won all those national titles in Baton Rouge! You gotta recognize greatness when you see it. He is probably irreplaceable. It is (was) very difficult to beat Alabama, and didn't happen very often. Grudging admiration for a great coach!

Die hard Alabama fan here, we’re so spoiled with him and the bar is high and it’s going to be painful seasons in the future but I’m riding with the the tide no matter what, respect to all the other team college fans for recognizing what Saban accomplished. Roll tide and LANK.
Michigan fan. Dude is the absolute goat. Fielding Yost was amazing back in the early stages of college football but in the modern era, nobody comes close to Saban. Dude rarely loses to his assistants that go on to become amazing coaches. Dude barely loses at all. Down year is 3 losses and even then he’s amazing and the losses are never by many points. Who knows who takes over but nobody better than Saban.

I saw an interview with Saban, and he said that his age had much to do with his decision. This year took a lot out of him, and it was getting harder to meet the standards that he had set for himself. There are no health issues, other than what age does to everyone!
Paul knows who has a great chance to replace Nick: Lane Kiffin. No one covets the Red & White quite like Lane has. He's been vocal about it as well. If Alabama offers Lane the job, that will be that.

Sad to see him go, i hope he is not sick....perish that thought...i was 10 when Bear retired and recall well the issues hiring another dynasty builder...of course, i could never imagine anything to match Bear and his teams. I read that 48% of the people in Alabama claim to be born again Christians. That is ironic because Paul Bryant did not believe it was good for a football team to have too many Christians. That would weaken a team and make it too soft. I live in Edmonton, Alberta. That belief is strong with hockey fans. When Wayne Gretzky played for the Oilers they wanted players that would fight anybody that took a cheap shot at Wayne. Today that goes for any player that tales a cheap shot at Connor McDavid. Even in Edmonton there are people that wear Alabama Crimson Tide T-shirts and sweaters.
Most Alabama fans don't even know who the coach was before Saban😂 I ask them all the time and get 🤷♂️

Kiffin has the ego and personality to coach Alabama. He is crazy enough to step up to the challenge. Saban and Alabama gave Kiffin a second chance after his career was effectively over after USC fired him on the tarmac at the airport.
He’d certainly have great recruiting and an interesting offensive scheme !

The only question i have for whoever decides to take that challenge is, what if your game plan for keeping the current players, transfers and newly recruited athletes on that roster that when to play for bama just to be coached by him??
People thought that when the Bear retired, that he could not be replaced. Then came Saban, Alabama Football will continue to be great. Who will be the next Bryant/Saban? I think if Lane had not left, their would have been another Championship or two for Alabama. Roll Tide!

Saban should have retired in 2020 after winning that National Championship. That was his best team outside of the 2009 Team in my opinion. I thought Saban probably wanted to try and win one last title. I think Miss Terry talked him out of staying for another year and probably convinced him it was time to spend his remaining time on this good earth with his family.

Nobody can replacement the person or fill their shoes. The era is over, done, complete. The next person has to start his own legacy and people need to stop comparing along legacy right from the start. We probably will not see anything like it.
