Dear old David Tomlinson. I grew up seeing him at the cinema in Disney films. His son is now a Crown Court Judge and is every bit as charming as his father.
I love this man, and am so sorry that he was not more appreciated in the film world. I find that funny that he actually approved of Dick Van Dyke's "cockney" accent. Since I grew up with the film, and didn't hear a genuine cockney accent until years later, I never questioned it. Nowadays, I still love the accent, even if it is not accurate; its Van Dyke's performance as a whole that stands out more. His talk with the children after their scare at the bank always makes me cry, especially after I became a father myself.
I grew up loving him in 'Mary Poppins' as well as 'Bedknobs & Broomsticks' 🥹 thank you for this!
Such a young Sir Ian, too!

cheers for sharing mate, Marry Poppins, the love bug and bed knobs and brooms sticks are a great Tomlinson Trilogy ;)
Holy moly that's a very young Sir Ian Mckellen as well! So much talent in one interview!
And I just realized that McKellen acting style owes something to John Gielgud's.

Thank so much for finding these interviews, I've been searching for years to hear him talk about his work. Cheers again😊
Thank you so much for putting this up! I’m reading his biography and I was searching for these clips 😊
Yes that biography is excellent 😊
Don't believe I've ever seen him out of character .
Imagine if King Mongkut, Mr. Banks, and Georg Von Trapp went out for drinks together?
David Tomlinson you were amazing. (RIP)
Yeah haha
