    Love your channel quick question I have all sorts of comps for carnival and for Las Vegas. What is killing me is the price of airfare do you have any tips secrets what do you do to drive down the price of your airfare?

    • @cruisingoncomps
      @cruisingoncomps  2 месяца назад +1

      Oh how I wish I did. The only thing I've ever been able to figure out to reduce my airfare costs is utilizing a credit card that awards miles or points, charging everything I can to that card (daily purchases) and then paying them off immediately. That way I get the points but not the interest charges. You can really rack up points depending on what type of card you can get. I personally use American Express Delta SkyMiles. I get a free checked bag and priority boarding with it also.

    Great video, thank you! ONE question.... I'm a 2nd time cruiser that just got off of the Mardi Gras 10 days ago, 7 day cruise and earned 9600 points on slots. When and how (email or mailings) should I anticipate getting these amazing offers? I already received a few email offers (like 'welcome home' and book again), but they are not hugely discounted. I don't want to jump on something too soon and miss my shot. Thanks for any input

I have another cruise book in August 2025 with the same offer. I also have a March 2026 cruise booked. No casino offers for 2026 yet. My first carnival cruise was in 2017. It was extremely expensive because I had a grand suite. I gamble a lot. I have cruised at least once a year every year since then and have never paid for my suite. I always have drinks on us everywhere for me and a companion. I usually have several hundred dollars in free play. I think the value of comps from carnival is no comparison to the comps I get on land based casinos. Carnival rocks!

Although I’m only offered Inside and Oceanview cabins, it cost me only a few dollars to upgrade to a balcony or suite, which I always do. Great informative video! The ships are sailing fully booked these days, there is much less reason for cruise casinos to offer comps, people book cruises and gamble anyway. I'd love to hear your opinion on this one...did your casino strategy/play change when you cruise now? Any thoughts on how to keep getting offers without going broke?

    • @cruisingoncomps
      @cruisingoncomps  2 месяца назад +1

      I haven’t personally seen a decline in my offers, they’ve actually grown but that certainly could change. It’s been my experience, at least with land based casinos, that no matter how many visitors they’re getting, comps keep coming because there’s too much competition. My hope is that cruise lines with have the same approach.
      To your questions, my strategy on a cruise is much different than on land when it comes to free play. On land I try and convert it and then pocket it and start gambling on the budget I bring. On a cruise my strategy is to convert it and then play it all the way to zero, getting as much time and points on it as possible. It obviously depends on luck how effective that strategy becomes but it’s completely free money that has led to additional offers in the past.

    I was really hoping you were going to share the amounts were gambled and how you gambled, ie. craps, slot, poker etc. There seems to be a lot of confusion on the comps especially from what is the best way to accumulate your points needed.

    • @cruisingoncomps
      @cruisingoncomps  2 месяца назад +1

      I plan on covering that a little more in depth in a future video as it's been a common question but I'll also answer it here as well. I took 3 cruises in 2023 and accumulated roughly 16,000 total points with roughly $40,000 coin-in (not out of pocket) for all three combined. I played 95% slots as it provides the most accurate account of points. In my local casino I gamble much different but on the cruise I stuck to mostly slots. I actually finished in the positive for the year with Carnival by a good bit. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching!

    Thank you for a great informative video. Please tell us a little more about AARP. How do you receive the gift cards? Are yhey mailed or digital? Do you have to wait until on-board to load? Thank you!

    • @cruisingoncomps
      @cruisingoncomps  2 месяца назад +1

      All you need to do is join AARP. You don't have to be anything other than over 18 to join. The cost I believe is $15-16 per year. Once you've joined you will go to aarp.org/rewards. Once on the page you'll scroll down until you see a button labeled "All Rewards" and click that button. It's about halfway down the page. Once you click that, scroll down again until you see ALL REWARDS and a large search bar. Type in Carnival and two options should show up. $100 for $90 or $500 for $450.
      After your purchase they will email you the code(s) and from there you can go to the Carnival website and either pay for a cruise or, if you're already booked, you can go into your cruise and select "Cruise Cash". Make sure and select General Cruise Cash and you can use that for anything on the ship, including in the casino. It will say "$25" but select "Details" and it will take you to a page where you can change it to up to $100.
      If that seems like too many steps just print them out and take them onboard. You can load them onto your sail & sign account on a kiosk or have guest services add them to your account. The cool thing is that if you have a balance when they settle your bill they'll use all of the remaining gift card balance first then apply the remainder to you credit card on file.
      Hope this helps. It seems like a lot but it's really super easy. The hardest part is finding the cards to purchase on the AARP website.

    We cruise 2-3 times a year and my offers absolutely SUCK!!! I get free interior offers but they offer me to ports nowhere near our home port. To boot, we took some friends with us last summer that never cruise. We all gambled and had a great time. We were just looking at booking another cruise with them. They got a csino offer that had them paying PEANUTS for the cruise and our offer had us paying more than $1000 over their offer. ?????? Carnival makes no sense to me with their offers brother. @@cruisingoncomps We just did that last month on the Dream. The casino host seemed to be giving me more excuses than anything to be honest. She claimed that when the offers come out that there may only be a certain number of offers available and that we may be getting to the offers after the fact the more of the offers we want have been taken. BUT again, I can LITERALLY take my friends VIFP# and load it up and see all the offers they get and their offers are showing exactly what mine are NOT. And we are talking about using some of the same exact offer codes. I tried to explain to her how what she was offering me as explanation wasn't making sense based on what I just said about my friends offers. Regardless, we are cruisers and continue to cruise but man their casino offers program is not consistent at all. If we want to use a "free" cruise offer, we have to go to Miami or LA even though we have never sailed from either port. We ALWAYS sail out of Galveston. Went out of Port Canaveral once for the Mardi Gras last year. And again, my friend gets the free offers with the same offer code but hers shows Galveston cruises for free. If I look at the SAME cruise she sees, I have to do it outside of using the offer code which of course will have me paying a couple grand. Makes NO SENSE...

    • @cruisingoncomps
      @cruisingoncomps  2 месяца назад

      Fair question but also one that is incredibly difficult to answer due to so many different variables. As an example, on a cruise I took in October of last year I generated over 10,000 points with a $1,000 bankroll and still went home with more than $1,000. On my most recent cruise I only generated 2500 points with the same bankroll and came home empty handed. It really is relative to the circumstances that take place while gambling. More wins equates to more money to play with which translates into more points created through that play. Longevity of play + average bet are things the casino uses to determine your theoretical value so if circumstances fall your way like they did for me in October of last year, you're in great shape to get an offer. If they fall your way like they did for me on my last cruise, well, it becomes more difficult. My ultimate advice is to always only gamble what you are willing and can afford to lose and view it as entertainment and let the offers fall where they may after the fact.
