I don't know if anybody has told you yet, but the slip mats are not for the floor! They are for your turntable so that when you play a record it doesn't skip but when you don't have a record on it, it's a decorative cover. The color on the product was so light though that it was easy to miss the small hole in the center that it's shaped like a record

People now a days only say good things about Taylor on the internet hoping they’ll get her attention & it’s sad. She NEEDS to hear this kinda criticism or she’s gonna start losing fans 🤦🏻♀️ and I freaking love her so that’s hard for me to say but it’s true. Also, u can’t be poor and be a Taylor fan 🤷🏻♀️ not everybody can afford tickets or even her merch, it makes me mad how much she charges now like she really has no concept of money anymore cause she has so much. I love my heart-shape lover purse, but it came apart pretty quickly. Judging by the quick turnaround and low quality of the items, I would bet all this stuff comes from the exploitative fast fashion industry, which I can’t say I’m interested in supporting by buying more merch. I love Taylor, so I’m hoping for the day when she releases sustainable, long-lasting pieces that I can treasure for years.

It’s kinda sad that most of my Taylor Swift merch quickly becomes pjs only because they’re so shit. It’s also nearly impossible to pick correct sizes because everything is always huge!
I also hate the more you spend, the more you pay for shipping. The fact that every other business has flat rate shipping and this store is like ‘oh you’re giving us extra business? Thanks! That’ll be $50 shipping.’ Nothing is affordable when you are paying in AUD!

I laughed so much watching this. You're so right, she's the one artist that I follow that releases the most amount of merch. It's ridiculous. I also prefer the fan made stuff. I got a beautiful embroidered Cruel Summer t-shirt last summer on etsy. I much prefer to support a small bussiness tbh.

i tend to make jokes with my other swiftie friend about taylor being a measly (with love lol), cause she wouldn´t pay a designer for her merch, and her first lyric videos (they have gotten better with time).
I have the theory that she wants to do it all, like, I´ll design the lyric videos and direct them and I´ll design the merch too!

Truly love the fact that you are not afraid to speak the truth. I think this is a prime example of how you can be a fan, but at the same time, call out when an artist is out of line. I agree that the new merch is very unattractive and overpriced and it does feel like a money grab. I don't plan on buying any merch, but I will be going to her Eras tour and am looking forward to that :)
I still stand by saying that the cardigan was the best merch item but it was also SO overpriced...
And the thing I considered buying recently were the red enamel pins because they were cute and reasonably priced but the sold out so fast

The slip mat is not a bath rug... it's for a turntable. That's why there is a little hole in the center. // I agree that the current items in the store are absolute uninspired junk. There were some better options earlier on (by comparison to now) for the Folklore, Evermore and re-release albums, but now the individual album merch is really dreadful. I'm hoping the actual concert merch is better... not that I'll get to check it out, #thxTicketMaster

Omg tbh besides cds/vinyls I have not purchased any merch since 2012 RED era 🙈 I only purchase fan made merch lol. Feel like the next potential "cancelation" esque moment for Taylor will be questioning the ethics of her brand and empire. If she really does become a billionaire, I hope the sane Swifties and general public really call her out on this shit and she is forced to reevaluate her business model, work towards sustainability + labor safe practices and give away a huge chunk of her money lmao. Not just say you support these things (ie her political awakening during lover) but actually give your money away and do something with it :') who knows we'll see lol

Honestly I think the majority of the merch is meh. The etsy unofficial merch is 10 times better, just because, as you said, I don't always wanna wear her full face on a shirt or a hoodie. I'm so glad I can embroider because I can make what I want.
I remember seeing someone on r/taylorswift dying their lavender haze pullover and it looked so good. Like, if that was the official merch, I would have bought it in a heartbeat, even though it had her face on it. How the hell are the fanmade versions of merch infinitely better than her actual merch?

THERE WAS THE MOST PERFECT MERCH I WANTED. it was a folklore polo zip up with that university/varsity style to it. The front was perfection to me. BUT THE BACK... IT HAD GIANT LETTERS saying "SWIFT" in a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SHADE AND IT RUINED THE ENTIRE VIBE OF IT :(. I WAS PISSED HOW CLOSE TO PERFECTION IT WAS

the slip mat is for your record turntable. it protects it from gathering dust. the dust can scratch your expensive vinyl records. it´s useful for people who buy records to actually listen to them

Every time she drops merch I am baffled as to why a billionaire with an obvious interest in making more money would not hire a legitimate artist or graphic designer. Admit you need help with design! There is no shame in it, she has no training. I have been a fan since Debut, but the only merch I have are the Folklore and 1989 cardigans. I wanted the seagulls as the elbow patches, but I did call that it would have seagulls when the album was announced.
My Folklore cardigan came apart at the shoulder seams pretty quickly, but I am handy with a needle and repaired them with variegated yarn in cool colors. I get lots of compliments. The 1989 knit has a nicer hand.

I enjoy t shirts all day every day. Nothing fed me and my style quite like the Red era. 1989 was a little too bright and cheery but I do regret not getting the seagull sweater because if you know you know. It was a subtle nod. Reputation also gave me that subtle swiftian thing as well. It sucks when you feel compelled to get a piece of merch from every era and they flop. I have nothing from 1989 and evermore and I feel as though I got suckered into folklore only because a jacket went on sale.
Don’t regret the seagull sweater. I got it and the fit was awful. You can probably find memes about it being the start of giving people body dysmorphia lmao. It was super long and tight in all the wrong places and felt like those styrofoam foam fingers you wear at games

i think to a certain point taylor also whole heartedly believes we want this merch. weather it’s her team or universal. she still probably sees this stuff and i think she genuinely thinks we want it. the lover merch was okay and the folklore designs were good but it all went down hill after evermore in terms of design, product, AND sustainability. overall her merch is just very well rounded in the fact that it’s kind of terrible…

I like have a lot of options to choose from. I am not a Swiftie that has to have every piece of merch she puts out, but I do appreciate the variety. I am also glad she now has merch for all eras all the time vs just having merch for the current era. Agree about quality (tho my Rep merch has been the worst as far as quality & washing well). Most of my merch is folklore & Lover tho as I write this I have Rep shirt on and am under a 1989 blanket 😂
So I think the reason for a LOT of specific lyrics and merch from random eras, the stuff that says SWIFTIE, and even PRODUCTS THAT NO ONE ASKED FOR LIKE PHONE SKINS are all just what’s needed to establish and maintain her trademarks and visual copyrights and prove their continued use for the products listed in the paperwork. And I think a lot of missing merch (like Rep stuff) is clearly waiting for rights/ownership issues to work out.
I’d only pay this much for merch if it was ethically made (like US union=made, upcoming eco fibers like hemp, etc). I actually got a $65 Hilary Clinton shirt during her campaign that was a from her guest designer collaborations, and it is 1) an awesome graphic design 2) union-made in the US and tagged as such and 3) it was so incredibly high quality, just the softest cotton, good thickness and drape, great sewing, printing quality, etc.
It’s really a shame that a woman this rich and with this much control over her career ended up with such shitty merch, bad for the earth, bad for the customer. It looks like at least the designs used to be better with merch under Big Machine. But if anyone has the resources to start producing higher-end, ethically made merch (maybe contract somehow with an established brand with good ethics/eco ratings or start putting out even smaller runs with independent small stops at a more local level), and just really shake up how the industry approaches merch, it would be someone like Taylor Swift.

I'm a swiftie who is getting 2 merch pieces for Christmas, and I agree with you that merch for every single lyric is excessive, and is way too expensive for what it is. The only good things seem to be the tour merch which are the exact same print on different basic colours of hoodie and shirt. They lack in creativity and are way way too expensive
what I also realised is that the photos look so bad because they're all CGI, they don't even wait for any items to arrive as testers. I think the items would look a lot more appealing if they took NOT-EDITED PHOTOS of the merch on real people who are wearing them

Zach sweeety, slip mats are the soft, often felt material mats that go over the platter of a record player lol, with a second glance you can see a small hole in the middle where the peg of the player goes, and its what your records rest on while spinning lol, swiftie vinyl lovers would definitelyyyyy buy that haha

I have seen the websites of a couple of different musicians. They have a homepage, where they will link music if anything; and the shop is on a separate link. On Taylor's website, even the homepage is an ad for TTPD

I'm so glad you continue to make content and remind me I'm not losing my mind 😅 I bought the blue midnights hoodie when it was a ~spotify exclusive~ (although now it's in the official merch store) and I thought it was going to be a nice big cozy hoodie, like previous hoodies me and my gf have bought from the merch store. Instead it's more of a cropped polyester blend.. still moderately cozy but like no front pocket, not even any drawstrings? And it was $70?! 😢 you pay so much and wait so long to get it 😢
