  • How to Make FREE Foam FLY FISHING FLOATS / STRIKE INDICATORS - Fast, Easy & Customized. The foam fly fishing floats in this video are fast and easy to make AND use. In the field the fly fishing floats are effective, customizable and time saving. You can also use the foam bobber as strike indicators. I found many fly fishing float designs to be great but lacking in one aspect or another. I wanted a fly fishing float or strike indicator I could slide up and down the line quickly and easily. I wanted a fishing float / strike indicator I could take on or off quickly if I was not already using a float. I wanted a fly fishing float that held tight where i wanted it all day if need be. Looking at my fly cards the thought came all too quick and simple. LIGHTNING. A small rectangle and a few holes in 5mm foam make a superior fly fishing float at the cost of 1/10 of a cent. A lifetime supply for a $1.29 investment. Simply GOLD in all aspects! And yes... They cast great! I hope you give these fly fishing floats a try! Have fun out there and we are always happy to share our experiences with all those around the world and hope you enjoyed the video as much as we did making it and remember always - Fish Your Way!

    I don't care that they are cheap. They're the only indicator that I can tolerate. Super light and adjustable. Only downside is they're not removable, but it's no big deal. A couple things that may help. Make the hole on the very ends of the float and round the corners. Less likely for the line to catch and tangle on the float. I think I like a longer thinner float because there's less wind resistance for the same volume. If you're getting slippage try adding a half or whole turn when you thread your line back in to the second hole.

      Good stuff, to make em removable make a loop like a U insert that in one of the holes and through the other. Place the bottom end of the U on the other side of the float and pull slight tight. The only part that sucks is to adjust you have to take off and do again but its quick.

    Hi Jerry, You always come up with some great DIY tackle ideas. I like to spend my free time working on my fishing gear and making leaders and rigs. These floats are a great idea and looks like a perfect project for making at home. Thanks, Mickey

      Hi Mickey and thanks as always! Make them a tad bigger or double them up for a great spin float as well for the spinning gear. There is no float on the market that is as inexpensive and customizable as these oddly. I forgot how fun it was watching a float take off and been using them all week if I needed them or not!

    Great idea, Jerry! I like the 2-hole concept to make it easy to adjust up and down. It would be my luck that the fish of a lifetime would hit the float and not the fly.

    I know if you get any thumbs down most likely is going to be from the tackle market suppliers 😁😁
    Oh 👌😍 don’t throw your old flip flops guys, recycle it in to a life time supply floats indicator.
    Good one Jerry!!

      Fish Your Way I was throwing big streamers for bass yesterday and a guy had a bobber like indicator, he said they were expensive and I’m not comfortable spending a lotta cash on stuff like that so I ran a search and I’m glad I found your video. By the way, I need to upgrade my surf reel (I’m using a composite one with really weak drag) what would you recommend?

    • @FishYourWay
      @FishYourWay  4 года назад +1

      They are and they cast horrible the zingamabobbers or any bobber may as well be spin fishing with flies I think. As per the reel I dont use much drag most comes from my hand and rod angle. I use the cortland 100 ltd's and taken a liken to the ocean city 90's recently which are semi automatic ruclips.net/video/GGIyUIcUy_w/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/-_7Inx_WjgI/видео.html One reel I do recommend especially for surf fishing are the older pfluger 1495-1/2 or the 1498. The have a great drag, time tested, spare spool are easy to purchase on ebay and a quick rinse with fresh water will yield a lifetime of fishing. I would prefer the 1495-1/2 its a smaller lighter reel and should hold plenty of backing but if you are chasing regularly larger fish the 1498 is a bit bigger both will do the job. The 1495-1/2 has a wider spool so you can get a good amount of backing too and will handle larger fish and the harsh salt/sand well nice drag on em too check em out here ruclips.net/video/kifSr_oVmog/видео.html.

      Fish Your Way ha! Actually that’s what I use for trout and it is a great reel, I just didn’t think of it for the surf. Thanks for the info 👍.

      Much welcome, just rinse well I keep a can of wd40 in the car too so I can spray the whole thing out on site if need be. I prefer lighter reels

    Just use a pin or even a hook to go under the line on the single looped to snag the line and pull it up and loose.

      You can cut small as you need and to size use 1mm 2mm foam narrow profile if you need a smaller float they cast great for me
