@macedon4049 been to both. Yes they're massive with people but chicago actually is larger in continuous land used. Actually 9 of the ten largest cities in land use are in the US. Due to the majority of Americans living in single family houses compared to those cities mentioned where the majority live in apt complex or beehive complexes. Not my cup of tea

Actually Jacksonville, Florida is the largest city in the continental USA by area. But it only has around 1.7 million people. Chicago metro area probably has around 9 million.😊

Please.... hate upon our cities is not patriotic no matter what one claims. Chicago and others were always rip-roaring cities all thru its history from ethnic Italian and Irish gangs that formed the mafia and the Al Capone era who was a born and bred New Yorker sent to do his damage. To Companies luring southern African-Americans as a form of Union-busting creating major issues and turmoil as Unions would not let Blacks in for many years.
At least WW1 and especially WW2 diffused those gangland ghettos, but redlining by our Feds restricting loans to minority areas and allowing white-only areas to suburbs and blockbusting white-flight promoted by FHA and post WW2 GI loans only 1-2% of minorities even those who served could get restricted to mostly those redlined areas.
In short we created our mess and no Pres or Congressional control fixed it. Every few decades it boils over again.... the 60s were one and 2020 still not fully over as toxic ideology wars and by color and party all the blame create another mess of our own allowing as to compromise might give another party and pres a win and of course.... we cannot do that.
Chicago has many great neighborhoods and a clean city. Sadly, those same redlined areas are bastions of our own creating of a under-class generations ongoing and its own culture created by our own choices.

Replying 8-months later and of course.... it is the American Midwest where most of the land south and west of Chicago is flat as a pancake. Of course exceptions. Many states in this region are mostly flat or mild rolling. The USA spans a whole Continent. You can travel for many hours and find most this flat in the more central USA where much of its grain is grown South and west of this metropolitan area.
Why would you not make a trip report that woulda been cool. Also that is a 757-300 not a 737-800
