4 weight is fine if you are targeting trout. I usually use 5wt. Pullled several 20 in trout out of there in the past. But there a lot of other species(striper, sandbass, spoonbill, etc..) that you might want to upsize your rod for.
It’s funny because the wats preserve was my great grandparents land until they died and there son sold it to the wildlife department man I wish he hadn’t have done it but now you have a great place to fish
Yea, I understand, that would have been a great piece of property to have in the family. But it is much appreciated and It is a great place to access the river and is used by many fisherman!
@@chiefsfan1533 I usually stop by the Gadget Company when I am in Tulsa, it is a cool outdoor store that has some fly fishing gear(Orvis). I also heard that Wilder Brothers in Owasso is a cool outdoor store that has some fly fishing gear as well, although I haven't been there yet. And bass pro also has some fly fishing stuff as well. The other places I used to go to have closed down.
Good fishing as it is a very productive system to fish! No offense, but it’s a “Wooly Bugger”! Fish there all the time and twice in the last two weeks and slayed them on size 14 jig head nymphs, #16 midges, crackle backs and soft hackles! 50+ degree days with a little sun and not much wind! Water was high one day at 1,300 cfs and off the next trip.
I love that. I love being the last one out. Generally means you had a great day. Good video Nick.
For sure! Thank you!
great video I live in St Louis, but used to live in Tulsa. that is a beautiful area, thanks for sharing, you are a good fly fisherman
Thanks so much! I appreciate the kind words. It is a beautiful area for sure!
Beginner here. What is the weight of you right now? Is 4 weight sufficient down there?
Judging by the size of his catches a 4 weight sounds ideal.

@@OutdoorHighlife thank you for the quick response! Awesome video BTW
@@caswellthompson6432 No problem! Thanks
What kind of flies do you like to use down there?
Small midges and wooly boogers most of the time. Like using cracklebacks during certain conditions.
