Has to be that. That's why he never says anything when people call. That's why it knocked on his door when Greg was at Anna's place. All the weird gasps and mouth sounds are probably Anna sitting right next to the player on the floor, bound and gagged, trying to break free. Also, I feel like the choices you're given when asked how you got her phone sounded a bit like the player character is really just making shit up on the spot.
I think Ashley likes Anna because when she was drunk she texted anna then left a voice message and sounded desperate for Anna to forget and in one of Anna's vlogger videos she said "I don't know what it is with Ashley and boys".
