Exploring the quieter side of Arashiyama is like a hidden gem experience. Japan is japan. Unique culture, unique people. "I am absolutely in love with their culture."
I love how you make the most out of the current circumstances. In this case rain. I love that you enjoy the awe of surprises. The color of the river was beautiful. The ringing of the temple bell reminded me of the rings around the raindrops in the river. Your time and effort to make such high quality videos is appreciated and enjoyed. Thank you again!
Thank you for letting me know about Senkoji Temple through this video. I went there last Sunday and had a very peaceful time. It was really beautiful. Really is the highlight of the entire trip. Thank you.
Dear lovely Mei, thank you so so much from the bottom of my heart for always make thoughtful, calm and zen video clips in Japan. Through the lenses of yours, Japan comes to my eyes with tranquility and serenity. Whenever I feel down and get lost in my Ph.D. journey, your video popped up as a remedy for my mental well-being! If you have more time, please make video about Yokohama!
Thank you so much for your heartfelt message. I’m so happy to know that my videos bring you a sense of calm and help lift your spirits, especially during your challenging Ph.D. journey. Yokohama is such a beautiful place, and I’d love to make a video about it when I have the chance. Wishing you strength, inspiration, and success in your studies. 😊✨
I loved scrolling the comments and finding another fellow PhD student. Just like you, I am also constantly thinking if my research is going anywhere. It does feel like being lost in a forest. This video reminds me that there is a world of possibilities out of that forest and that you can always find the calm in your heart even when it rains outside. Let's keep going, one day we will be along that gorge, in that temple, thinking back at all the effort, the tears and the sweat that we poured in these challenging years of research
Another walk down memory lane filled with peace and calm. Strolled the same steep slope that led to Senko-ji; rang the temple bell that echoed on the mountainside; sat on the viewing platform to take in the panaromic view. We were there in May, but the November autumn hues and the shimmering turquoise colour of the river made it all so resplendent and made us wish to be there again. Thank you so very much for this yet another beautiful video! ❤❤
We're glad our video brought back such wonderful memories for you, and we hope they inspire another visit someday. Thank you so much for your kind words and support! ❤🍁😊
Every place you visit is actually beautiful. It depends on your mood at that time. Like in this video, this place looks wonderful because the creator can take the footages from the right angles plus give proper music to build the mood. Bravo 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Okayama garden video was posted 1 day before my 1 year anniversary since visiting it, this one, I visited this area on the 21st of November 2023 so the anniversary was yesterday :) But last year, around this time there were a lot more red leaves. I didn't cross the river though, thank you for showing what I missed, hope to go in a few years in the autumn again.
Wow, what a lovely coincidence! Thank you for sharing your memories with us. We’re so glad our vlogs can help you reminisce about your trip to Japan. We hope you get to visit again in autumn-it’s such a beautiful season!
What a remarkable place. So much beauty. I really enjoyed the little spirit statues. Each one unique and so full of charm. I noticed that you use a filter to keep each scene the same. While this may be desirable it washes out the vibrant color of the places you visit. Whenever Taki takes a picture that shot is so full of color and life that is missing from the video (just a thought). Keep up the great work.
We’re so glad you enjoyed the vlog! We’ll keep your feedback about color editing in mind for the next one. Some of the photos (the ones introducing Daihikaku Senkōji Temple and Hozu Valley) were actually taken two years ago during the peak of the autumn leaves, and we included the dates for those photos. Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment and support! 😊
Hi, I enjoy so much your videos. The bonsai shown in 5:39 isn´t actually a momiji(acer palmatum) but a Kaede(acer buerguerianum). Any way, you captures the authentic japanese atmosphere to keeps us calm and happy thousand of miles away. Thanks a lot.
I’m so sorry to hear about your grandpa. I’ll definitely pray for him the next time I visit a temple. Wishing him strength and a speedy recovery. Thank you for sharing this with me. 💕
I like this video! I like arashiyama! There are many nice spots that you can go to by walking. Otagi nenbutsuji was an itinerary in one of our trips, but we could not find it, and kyoto during autumn gets dark early. We actually just came back from nagoya last night, but still Kyoto is magical for me. But i hear from news that over-tourism in kyoto is becoming an issue 🥺
When did you go? It looks like koyo hasnt peaked yet. Autumn is late, i hear from news due to high temperatures. Around this time in past trips, the leaves are already bright in kyoto. I barely saw koyo in nagoya 😖
We visited Arashiyama on November 18th, and you’re right-the autumn colors (koyo) haven’t fully peaked yet this year. Arashiyama truly is such a special place, with so many beautiful spots to explore on foot. It’s true that some areas of Kyoto experience overtourism, but there are still plenty of quiet and peaceful spots to enjoy. We’ll be sharing some of these in our upcoming vlogs, so please look forward to them! 😊
In a week we could have met at the same places. At senko ji I had the chance to arrive at the moment when an old monk finish his office. For a group of American tourists. And then with a grandmother who did the translation,he explained the history of Buddhism, and also for example that of their outfit. It was very interesting, but I left after I did not want to intrude. On this right bank there is no one, not a tourist or almost those are curious that we cross. And I would add that you were talking about seeing a lot of people traveling alone (which is my case). I find that the contact with the locals is easier like this. I have made incredible encounters with amazing grandmothers and grandfathers, even if my Japanese is basic. So my advice learn Japanese, even if it is just to figure out how to ask your way etc., it will open doors you do not imagine.
What a beautiful experience, thank you for sharing! The path leading to Senko-ji is so quiet and serene, especially compared to the busier areas on the opposite side. I completely agree-traveling alone often creates opportunities for deeper connections with locals, and it’s wonderful to feel comfortable with yourself while exploring. 😊
Another great video! 👌👌Arashiyama has always been my favourite place in Kyoto. Will definitely explore the quieter side next year. By the way, do you need to pay to enter the Daihikaku Senkoji temple?
These peaceful and quiet spots you shared are amazing. l’m planning to Kyoto in late January Do you have any recommendations in this city during that period ? Thanks❤

i was curious about the path i saw on the other side of the river too but never knew it leads to a temple!
We highly recommend walking that path. 😉

Another great video! 👌👌Arashiyama has always been my favourite place in Kyoto. Will definitely explore the quieter side next year.
By the way, do you need to pay to enter the Daihikaku Senkoji temple?
Thank you so much. It's free to enter up to the bell tower, but there is a fee beyond that. 😉
紅葉🍁が素晴らしいですね♪
見頃はまだ先でしたが、それでも十分綺麗でした。😊
In your video you ask - and yes, please do same tour when autumn colours are at their peak.
Thank you so much. 😊
These peaceful and quiet spots you shared are amazing. l’m planning to Kyoto in late January Do you have any recommendations in this city during that period ? Thanks❤
Thank you so much. I think Ohara, Kifune Shrine, and Arashiyama would still be beautiful in Winter. 😊
