No need to waste your hard earned money on expensive torque wrenches. My Pittsburgh is AMAZING and spot on. I spent $30 on all 3 drive sizes and I never have to spend money on another one ever again.

I used a set of Pittsburgh torque wrenches when they first came out and they actually worked, provided you readjusted and retightened their lock nuts constantly, exactly as you have shown. Good value at the time, but the Pittsburgh torque wrenches they're selling today don't even click, not even on their lowest settings. Trust them and you will snap off bolt after bolt. At least the current Icon torque wrenches still work. Pity the people who buy current Pittsburgh models. Great video. Thank you for sharing...

I’m broke and use the HB Pittsburgh and it works great. Fix my $500 Honda with it. Just set it, turn the lock at the bottom and the setting doesn’t move.

Good grief!! This is why people who are not Mechanics should NOT review tools they do not understand how to use correctly. You should have tightened the lock on the Pittsburgh and that slop would have gone away. The slop that you displayed was so negligible it would have been within most tolerances anyhow. The Pittsburgh is fine for any non critical torque spec. If you are working an item that has critical torque specs Hopefully you have the knowledge and proper tools to do the job. Otherwise take it to the shop.

Not saying the Pittsburgh is so great but you're using it wrong. The nut at the very bottom is to tighten for locking down the handle rotation so it doesn't mess up you're torque values. I have the 3/8 and 1/2 Pittsburgh pro from hf.

ICON all day everyday for me. It competes with Snap On. I love most Pittsburgh stuff, but not for a torque wrench. Also, that wheel is a work of art! Great video!

nice vid. BUT the 20 to 100 pount feet model from pittsburg is NOT correct to accurately measure 24 foot pounds. You need a 4 to 50 foot pound. WHY, the mid range of the scale is the MOST accurate. you are using the low end of the scale which is NOT accurate. great wrench tho.

I have had the cheap Pittsburg torque wrenches for years. Always sweating bullets on head bolts, but has worked so far. Sometimes I have to back off a bit before I hit it too hard. The click can hang up a bit. Works well if you go easy

  • @infernolt7622

Why did you turn it two to three more times after it clicked? Kind of defeats the purpose of the torque wrench don't you think?

They are actually pretty accurate for the price from what I've seen and they have a lifetime warranty. Its very unlikely you break a bolt by making it a small amount too tight. Remember people use to do this all by hand

My Pittsburgh had the O ring work out of the ratchet head. Also it slips settings like his. I run a small engine repair shop. I can't have crap and screw up. I need nice tools. I have a lot of Snap-Ons & Mac's. I use Kobalt impact sockets. Those are good. To me, it's worth it to get the Icon. I also love my Earthquake™ & Chief™ pneumatic tools. Harbor Freight does have some good stuff. Then some like a hammer, you got to eyeball 3 or 4 to get one ground straight & balanced.

My man, you either deliberately misused used the Pittsburg to fit your narrative or your simply incompetent. You will never break the lug stem with with either of those. And if you did you would not need a new wheel. A. $2 replacement stem at advance auto would do it.

It’s been proven even cheap torque wrenches r 99% accurate. If u r making a living and need that last 1% accuracy then spend all that $$$. Now I wish I had that 10 min of my life back.

Just a heads up to @Adam and others here claiming the accuracy making these wrenches "unusable". Even high end consumer pro wrenches like snap-on only claim a 4% FOUR PERCENT! accuracy range. You should not be concerned if it is a few numbers off. A large majority of factory repair manuals give ranges of acceptable torque too. Rarely is it a pass or fail torque amount outside of fine tune engine work etc.

I get what you mean. I think that it is for sure usable, its just the more you spend the better it'll be hopefully! Thank you for watching!

Now +/- 4% THD is completely unacceptable. Ya dig brüh?
