- Here's a preview of a comparison test but I will be conducting pretty soon between Gateway Drum's rib hanger versus Hunsaker's rib hanger. I really want to know which one will allow me to hang the most racks of ribs and which one works the best. We'll see!
Also, I got two new additions to the Weber Smokey Mountain family. A huge shout out and big thank you to Derek, who is a firefighter in East county and Julius, from The Shake Shack! Both of these guys acknowledged the potential in my channel and sold me the smokers at a phenomenal price! Thanks guys 👍

Hey Ruben. I did order the Hunsaker rib hanger. I haven't used it yet. One thing I found is the rod tips coming off the bottom ring prevents the wsm lid from seating. Since the bottom ring is all that's needed to rest on the barrel tabs, the quarter inch hangover of the curled ss rod tips are not necessary. If the rod tips are removed, the ring will then seat all the way down onto the grate tabs. The way it is now, It will work and the lid will close but the lid does not seat on the mid section due to the rod tips in the way. So, what I did was take my side grinder with a cut blade and cut the 1/4 inch curled up rod tips off. This allows the rib hanger ring to sit right down onto the top grate tabs and allow the lid to seat perfectly. I looked back at this video and see where the rod tips on the bottom ring are touching the outside of your barrel rim at the top preventing your lid to seat all the way down and you'll have some leakage there. I just wanted you to know what I found and what I did to help this situation. After I made this adjustment, it fits like a glove. Also allows the rib hanger to slide right down into the new 10 inch stacker ring. Without this adjustment, it would not go down into the stacker ring to sit on the grate tabs. All good now and fits perfect. I'll send this info back to Mark so he will know. Thanks-Phil
Nice catch.
So Mark makes 2 different 55 gallon rib hangers. One is for his smokers and one is for the 22 WSM.
After Mark watched this video he contacted me to let me know that I actually purchased the hanger for his smokers, which have the 3 nubs that protrude pass the outter ring. He informed me that I will need to grind off the nubs, which I did. Says the WSM version comes without the nubs. The first one I ordered was off of Amazon so I didn't pay attention to the options. The next one I ordered was thru Hunsakers website via the WSM accessories. It indeed arrived without the nubs. 😁👍

I'm at lunch and just got a VM from Hunsaker saying this exact same thing. All is good. Just wanted to make sure we were all on the same page. Thanks-phil
Couldn’t you just leave the lower grate in ? And have you seen the Cajun bandit adjustable grate brackets? No reviews so far.Great stuff bro, keep it up
I don’t cook ribs much, but I need to start. I don’t have a barrel smoker (yet! ) so I use my Traeger. Very informative video Ruben.
Thanks Phil 😊 I would think the Traeger is good enough, especially if you're not cooking for hungry coworkers like I do.
Very interesting set up Brother, looking forward to your test😎
So am I ✌️
Looks the hunsaker is quite innovative.
Very useful accessory. I wouldn't mind owning a Hunsaker Smoker!
Awesome review
So this was the preview before the actual comparison test on my next video. Be sure to watch when I hung 22 racks of ribs to see which one of these rib hangers are superior! Thanks for watching Michael. 😎✌
Nice setup. Will you do a video review of your flat top grill for us. I never thought of adding one to my pit until I saw yours on Baby Back Maniac the other day which how I found you.
Thank you for sharing again.
Cheers,
Jay 🌭🍗🥩🍤🥓🌶🥭
Not a bad idea! I will do that in the near future. So far, I absolutely love the Camp Chef! Thanks for taking the time to watch my video check out the rest of them in my channel. ✌️
Go for it
You're damn right i will 😋✌
Would u still recommend hunsaker for an 18” WSM?
Yup! Always a great accessory to have so you can hang more protein on there.
Where did you get the side handles for the WSM?
I purchased from ebay but I can't find them anymore.
Curved UDS Smoker Handle 55 gallon Drum
What king of griddle is that behind you at the beginning of video?
That's the Camp Chef FTG 600. Awesome flat top!
@@madswinebbq u like that better then a Blackstone?
I've never had a blackstone to compare it with. I have zero issues with the Camp Chef though.
My wsm is on hinge, will I be able to open and close the lid with this inside?
Absolutely! No issues at all.
@@madswinebbq Thanks. Heading to Amazon now
What aftermarket temperature gauge works the best for you on the WSM?
Anything from Tel-Tru. They are the best temp gages you can buy..... the most accurate!
Hey Rubin. Looks like you have it going on like Gangbusters with hanging ribs in the WSM. I love your passion and enthusiasm. I like what you are doing to maximize your cooker. Talk about out the box thinking with ribs and WSM, check out Joe's BBQ House channel. See how he uses his wsm, along with the Cajun Bandit extension ring, and his stacked grates method. Amazing amounts of food. Nice job by the way Rubin.
