Bought an rz500 right when they came out in Canada . loved that bike ! Went up 8 teeth on the rear spocket ! Then my friend bought the Suzuki Gamma and reworked the motor ! That thing was a rocket ! Bring back the 2 stroke bikes !!! What a rush !!

Thats to much for me,but i am happy to see this bike,that some people make the old bikes driving, its history on 2 wheels! and ther better lighter than some new bikes!! Sorry for my bad english! Absolutely gutted to look at the direction bikes went in after the 2t revolution. Grew up spoiled with the big 500 Mx bikes, sweet 2t 250s and 350s, 500s go, then ended up with underpowered 4t droning being the new norm. Every new standard bike now sounds like it has an exhaust off wish.

My theory is the Honda race mechanics who got thrashed by 2 strokes back in the '60s ( & even Hailwood on his 250-6 couldn't keep up with Read on the RD56 twin with 2 cylinders & disc valves. - So when they ran out of 4 stroke technology, Honda retired to try & save face ) eventually got promoted to senior management & then got their revenge in "smoke filled rooms" setting up deals with the F.I.M. - And as for pollution from 2 stroke exhausts, there's less in the entire life of the bike than created in manufacturing extra bits for 4 strokes !

And most of all to ride this bike in a proper manner you need "Balls of Steel"! So keep your nads and build one yourself and live life to it's fullest...;)

No Kawasaki for 27 years, March'19, chance to get a bike, no Kawasaki shops near, maybe get a good used RD 250,350,500 LC's, pipe dream, but sure, a fun ride, any of them. Turned down chance to get a 07 CBR600RR, sight unseen, saw it wanted it, knew nothing about it's performance, just looked really good to ride hard. Just sold, BUMMER, but yippee, I have a o5 650 Bandit, wow, more joy than my nearly new GPZ750TURBO, in 84, 161MPH, and standing quarter mile 10 seconds, about 2 seconds quicker than a Bandit S 1200. Sheet I Adore my 650 Bandit, but a 2 stroke 500 LC??, LOVELY SPARE BIKE. fun ride.
Its all great until you come off - had a 350 LC back in the day and crash rebuilds 3 times or more a year: usual things always went: Clutch cover, footrests, handlebar levers, clocks! scraped and dented exhausts, dents in petrol tank, headlight, inidicators. In the end I used to just gaffa tape stuff.
Thanks. Wheels and forks are from an R1, swingarm, radiator and seat from an R6, fairing from an FZR400RRSP. I've tried to keep it all Yamaha! The battery is a small Yuasa AGM type that fits under the rear seat cowl. It's beside a small oil tank for the 2 stroke oil that holds about a litre.
