This proposition is timely and a smart way to capitalize on open wheel racing's current growing popularity. The potential for success is great and beneficial to all involved. So glad I listened today and would, as I am sure would many others, participate in someway if it were to come to fruition.
You're asking for a lot in PA to get tracks together! The other thing, is whenever someone comes with idea, instead of them taking the ball, they try to pass that on to someone else to take the idea and run.
They used to have something similar. I believe WSBA was a sponsor. Points counted at every track. Susquehanna ran Sunday nights at that time. The point system helped insure a decent car count on Sunday night. I always thought it was a great system
@SprintCarUnlimited I don't remember Pabst thought it was WSBA and Budweiser. I know the Friday Williams Grove, Saturday it was Lincoln, Port Royal and Selinsgrove and Sunday Susquehanna were part of the overall Championship. I have been looking but I can't find the series name or list of winners. I believe it started in the 80's and went into late 90's but I could be wrong
@SprintCarUnlimited found some info. The local sprint cars were racing for a $10,000 point fund on the overall circuit that was sponsored by Busch Beer and WSBA Radio.
1991 season Fred Rahmer was WSBA Champion. Fred Rahmer was also Selinsgrove and Susquehanna track champion. Donny Krietz was Williams Grove champ. Lance Dewese Port Royal champ and Steve Smith Was Lincoln champ that year. So it's been done already
That's like asking you. And the others that provide the same content. To make a schedule. To not interfere with each other. To always have the same option and work together. Also letting others have a large say. In weather your business will thrive or starve. I just don't see how you could ask people to do that. The small time racer loses again in that situation.
Totally agree, there are countless reasons why the best situation for everyone is each track working completely independent and staying dark out of courtesy a few times a year. Central PA isn’t a series and it doesn’t need to be. Among other issues, how are new local drivers and teams supposed to develop if the heavy hitters and invaders are at every race in the area?
As someone whos been watching central pa racing their whole life, Central PA is in the worst spot it has been. The tracks arent willing to work together and it seems like theres alliances with tracks like Lincoln with the Grove and Port with Selinsgrove.
What is so bad about it? Purses are higher than ever. Speedweek is as big as ever. We have more high paying major events than ever. We have more local drivers and teams having success nationally than ever. We are represented by elite talent like Macri and Dietrich and a historic team like the Kreitz 69k. My God, TJ Stutts beat the WoO … what more do you want??
@ryanh1597 The Grove and Selinsgrove aren't even getting 20 cars some weeks and the only time the tracks can work together is speedweek. Yes purses are higher but you have to raise purses to keep the car counts around because if you don't got cars, the fans won't come. TJ Stutts beating the Outlaws was amazing but that doesn't really have anything to do with the state of the sport
@ I’ve been hearing this same stuff off and on since I started going in the early 80’s, lol. Sure, there can be a slow week were they don’t get 20 cars, SO WHAT!?!?! Unless you are personally invested in the track to make a profit, what does it matter? Enjoy the racing on the track or find something else to go do that week. People are so obsessed with car counts that they can’t just appreciate and enjoy the racing itself. The tracks work together often several times during the season beyond Speedweek, especially the end of the season when they stay dark for other events.
Quit CALLING it CENTRAL PA when you're closer to NY and NJ! Lernerville, Mercer and Tri City are in Western PA and it deserves to be considered Western PA,U people are NOT in the Central part of the state! DAMN!
Economically it is a developed region near the center of the state. There are countless businesses and organizations that use “Central PA” in their names in this area. South Central PA is also commonly used. I get it’s not perfectly centered in the state and I apologize that God didn’t put the Susquehanna river closer to the middle. 🙄

We need the likes of Jack Gunn and Tom Livelsberger. They could nake it happen.. The good ole days
Another example of "it looks great on paper but in reality..."

All true.

The Pabst deal...yes. I would like to see the track titles rolled into it, but I think that might be a pipe dream.

@@moe5809I believe in 1986 or 87 it was Pabst…Doug Wolfgang won it. Then WSBA and maybe Busch. Could be mistaken. I was young at that time … lol
would not be fair to the small teams . all the money would go to big teams that don't really need it all that much. macri .Dietrich. heffners.
👍Will not happen.
I agree make better racing
Maybe you could practice herding cats first .
Will never happen racers hate change, and tracks even more so.
