Bulk Reef Supply How many A360x do we need over a 36” tank? Is a t5 aqualife combo necessary for SPS corals?
You're never alone....with a clone
What could be better than Thomas, two Thomas's
😆
Thomas is an excellent salesman . I like him . I really appreciate the comment communities experience , knowledge , most of all your opinions . Often times they are not opinions , but reality . You go Dudes !
I've got two on my DT and one on the QT. Tank is LPS and zoas. All respond great to the light.
Very quick yet informative video. Thank you Thomas/BRS!
The most popular wifi microcontroller unit on the market, the ESP8266, is five dollars. And that's if you overpay on amazon for a single one, instead of buying them in quantity from the OEM. I don't buy it when they leave features like that out on a unit that costs 90 times that figure, that it's done to 'save money'. They want to sell you a 100 dollar add-on, plain and simple. I might buy that they want to keep the functionality separate so people complain about issues with the wifi dongle, rather than about the lamps themselves, which seem to be pretty awesome by all accounts I've seen.
Came here to say this. These days cheap Chinese lights that i could buy for 30-40 dollars have wifi/ Bluetooth and app integration. The cost must be super low (a few dollars to a few Pennies) . It’s the greed of these companies (kessil , ecotech etc) that’s stopping them from adding them to the light.
Good timing, mine arrives tomorrow
Great review, just need the a80 now lol
I don't know why soo many reefers always talk crap about the Kessils vs the Radions and Hydras. I think they are great lights...
Cool cimeutology
I thought you didn’t want a lot of shimmer because it’s not an even layer of intensity? I could of sworn I watched a video of you guys reviewing the Chinese box lights and said the bulbs weren’t great because the angle of the edges create laser like light spots ?? I’m kind of confused
Can't afford reef lights. I have upside-down flashlight attached to a bracket with a masking tape 😢
I mean, that's basically what these are. I'm spending dozens of hours going through reviews of what amounts to really fancy light bulbs.
60 watt CFL bulb and a clip on lamp works extremely well, probably 20 bucks tops. works extremely well. Hope you are joking with flashlight...
whats the next best thing? cheaper, but similar look and results??
They are brilliant lights shimmer is great and control is good too but the colours never match when you add multiple kessils together, you end up with bluer ones and greener ones and whiter ones, it really spoils the look of a bigger aquarium.
why wouldnt they match? they are all controlled from the same source, with all the same settings at the same time?
Does it work with APEX yet? What settings would you start with when upgrading from an old Kessil of 7 years.?
It's not Apex ready at this time. Check out the video below for some great setting suggestions for various tank sizes and types.

👍
Why is the paltry par never mentioned on these lights?
If you're looking for Par data, we covered in this in depth in this A360X Investigates video 🙂

Hey what do you think about the life span of the kessil ? I want to buy one but it’s a huge investment. I planning to buy one only if they last 4 to 5+ years .
We have some Kessils around the office that are pushing a decade now. Just make sure to occasionally use some compressed air to remove any dust. This helps to prevent overheating.
Hang on, 3 months ago the gen 5s were the best, 6 weeks ago it was Orpkek, now these are the best when they were available way before the gen 5s were released???? I'm more confused than I was before...
It’s all business for the money it cost is stupid
Will this be enough for a 40 gallon breeder LPS tank ?
For a 40 Breeder with LPS, you're going to be better off with two smaller lights like two AI Primes. The Kessil A360X is a fantastic fixture, but it covers a max area of about 24" x 24" for LPS corals. If you wanted to stay in the Kessil family of lights, two Kessil A160's would be an option too.
How does it work with apex control??? Is it worth doing or go with dongle???
As of now, the A360X isn't controllable by the Apex. The Wifi dongle works incredibly well, however.
Can I use this on 10 gallon tank?
The nice thing about this fixture, like most LED fixtures in the hobby, is that you can turn down the intensity if needed. That said, this will be overkill for the average 10 gallon tank. You may want to take a look at the Kessil A160 instead, depending on the dimensions of the tank and what type of corals you'll be keeping.

I dont understand shimmer. Isn't that just the ripples on the surface of the water? Not sure what the light has to do with that.
Basically, the more individual diodes and optics you have the more the "shimmer" will appear like busy static, with color separation, and have an overall discoball effect, vs. The Kessil or metal halide lighting that has wide bands of shimmer closer to what you see on the ocean floor or a pool because of the fact that all the diodes are packed very close together behind a single optic. You are right that the more surface agitation you have, the more shimmer you'll have in the tank, but what that shimmer looks like depends on your lighting. T5s have basically zero shimmer no matter how much surface agitation you have!
How they perform against the radions?
Depends on what metrics you want to go by, but I personally do like the new G5 Radions. The Kessil spectrum is fuller on the blue end, and closer to an ATI Blue Plus, has a really nice shimmer with no color separation, and is a better option if you don't want to have to use app control.
@@camarokid518 better or more bad?
We’re these ran at 100% intensity?
Usually yes, but it depends on the video and timestamp that you're referring to. The video in the link below is probably our most detailed on the A360X lights.

@@BRStv can you run them at 100% all the time or does it decrease there life span
Funny how they don't mention price
The Kessil A360X Tuna Blue currently retails for $449.00

Not that excellent for acros though as it tends to shadow alot. I have 4 on my 4ft tank and even with that amount of lights it shadows thats why i just bought 2 reebbrite lumilite strips to help.
Honestly, that is an issue with many LED lights, save for full coverage panels. Exactly why I run T5 (or Ryan now using XHO strips) along side the pendant/module style LED fixtures. I feel that.
T5s will always be better for that but put of zero shimmer effect
Got an a360x yesterday. What bothers me is that this light doesn't have a variable fanspeed. Even with only the moonlight on the fan runs at 100% which is ridiculous. I can hear it through my whole living room.
The 70$ Chinese Led it replaced was dead silent because it has a variable fanspeed, was expecting the Kessil had it too but no.
Lol at Thomas clone
Does it have to so expensive? That's an expensive hobby for real
This fixture is by no means the least expensive, but offers some distinct features vs the competition. That said, if the price isn't for you, there are some great alternatives like T5's and other less expensive LED fixtures.
