difference between a professionel score composer and an EDM producer. I know Valentin has a classical background, but his take on the score was kind of boring. It was more reminiscent to an intro in a dubstep track.
@@anisnej10well, I’ve never heard a Dubstep track start like that, even Hadley’s and Henson’s songs sounded more like modern Dubstep intros
@@AndrewYac Modern dubstep often has intros without any outstanding melodies, which is why it reminded me of that. Spacious while building tension, you know?

interesting to see how Christian Henson explicitly left a lot out for the sound designers to do later and then to see virtual riot go through doing all of those things haha
It was really interesting. Most def showed the difference in genre and emotion. Imo the more electronic type sound fit better with the trailer but Christians was very beautiful
Yeah, it definitely showed a pretty big difference between someone who composes for film and someone who doesn't.

Blown away. These were all so good. Can't stop thinking about how Christian Henson only used free plugins. Beautiful work.
Virtual Riot is an actual madman, such a versatile person in sound design, without wandering off his own style and input. It normally isn’t my kind of genre with all the supplementary sounds, but his work is such a journey. I love it to bits!
Virtual Riot's brain is built different.
Mad respect for Christian Henson, showing that you can make these 1000$ scores for free

I absolutely loved Mark Hadley's take on this. I would watch / listen to that intro again and again.
Christian Hansen and Virtual Riot are on another level.
I'd watch every single one of these. So amazing how all are different, yet equally intriguing and gorgeous sound.
I love how Tori explained her composition. Me, a non musician, but i love music and always explain the feeling it makes you feel. Her explanation and walk through was very interesting and easy for me to follow. Loved her.
I want to get better at making videos to continue to do things like this! I think film composition needs to be made more accessible for everyone 🥰
Christian Henson is on a whole other level.
He literally grabbed my soul and ripped it out with his score. I watched some of his tutorials and demos and really enjoyed them. Did not expect him to be THIS powerful...
he's nuts
well i mean he is the founder of spitfire audio
Spitfire Audio's Labs plug-in is free and the sound packs are incredible. They also have some amazing other VST instruments, which are pricey but worth it. They put a LOT of time into their samples with mic placement in 64 layers, etc... They do a lot with Olafur Arnalds.
Definitely agreeing.
“Bing bang bong on the zeitgeist”
yes that’s what VR’s sound design is
Andrew, I've got to hand it to you -- this video was one of the best things I have ever seen. Incredibly creative and well done!
Christian Henson and Andrew Huang....worlds collide!
True
But it’s not as good as FM-84 and Andrew Huang in a video (would love that to happen)
Virtual Riot's production skills just keep impressing me every single time. He can literally crush any genre, his sound design is out of this world.
And now, it's LITERALLY out of this world.
This was beautiful, All artists had extremely clear mixes as well as great ideas for the clip!
What a great learning experience! These are four obviously talented and experienced composers. I loved to consider how the music changed the experience and set me up with different expectations. It was like four different shows. For me, Mark's approach landed with the greatest impact because of his memorable theme. The evolution of the pulse was so satisfying. I loved Tori's transition beginning with the drums.
Cool to see Eliminate's best friend on here
Ah yes
Mark Hadley's mix was so good I felt it run through my spine. I could see this as the Mandalorian theme.
Truly outstanding guys. One of my all time favourite videos in this series. I love my scoring, sound design and clever synth stuff, so all of this hit all the marks.
Yoooo. I love this concept. Making title intro themes. So appropriate since all the big tv shows have cool intros these days. I would love to see more of this!!
It's funny that there's so much reverb, since there isn't in space.
Yeah, because on earth large reverb always indicates giant empty "space", our minds automatically lean towards using sustained ambient sounds to accentuate the feeling of space when portraying outer space
Since there's no sound in space, the silent video Andrew sent out to them was the perfect one already. :D
Space is big. Really big. Reverb is used to make things feel either big or empty. Space is both. A lack of reverb would make space feel quiet and lonely, which it is. As such, both are valid options.
It's funny that all four composers opted for an audible score, since music would not be audible in space.
I bet you are the kind of person that in Star Wars movies points out that explosions wouldn't happen like that in space.
Seeing Christian Henson and Andrew Huang is like the crossover episode between two shows
I've been a big fan of your 4 producers one sample series for a while, but this one really shines! I have not had chills in my back like this for a while! These are some talented people, and I love the concept! You also did an incredible job organizing it all and with the cinematography too. I'm so excited to be subscribed to your channel Andrew!
This is like a master class in and of itself! Inspired work by every composer, each theme moving in its own way. SO many great ideas across the same few seconds of images. Thanks for this, Andrew and everyone involved. So wonderful, I'm going to watch it again.
There is so much joy in this video. Just five super-talented humans making cool things and appreciating each others' skills.
Wow this is amazing, bravo to all the incredible composers featured on this
Sooooo fascinating. Love the running commentary by each composer as they put together their music.
Christian's tune circled back to the intro, when the base opens up. So interesting.
I love how VR had a sound for everything the doors opening, light glimmer on the ship, and Andrew putting on his suit and just walking
He should def look into doing the special effects for movies and shows
What a great idea for this episode! Tori's reminds me a lot of the Mass Effect score, very epic and spot on sci-fi.
Same thought. That intro synth sounds pretty much like the "Extended Galaxy Map" theme
I got a "The Expanse" vibe. Haven't played Mass Effect : (
This is my all time favourite episode.
Everything on this is pure cinematic wonder.
Absolutely love it !
You and your energy is so good for this world, big love Andrew!!!
Christian Hensen: So I'm gonna use a time theme

Henson's switch up in the middle made me feel something
I love this video! I love the way we get a sneak peak at the composers process and tools. Please make more of these.
Simply adored this. So much art & crafts. The whole channel is a wonderful discovery. Thank you!
Mark Hadley's one is the most unique sounding, may not be the most fitting track, but certainly the most intriguing one
Yeah, it's the only one that has a clear theme song that sticks with you and stands out (think Game Of Thrones). If i were to nitpick , then the intro piano sounds a bit dull and i feel he could have echoed the "theme" at the end credits there, but all-in-all i think it was the most fitting :)
It is clear how incredibly talented these folks are. Absolutely world class.
Love this new series, I used to teach kids about mood and sound design in scores. I am surprised it took this long for a video series like this! Killing it.
Initially, I didn't think I'd enjoy this video but I watched it anyway and I'm so glad I did! Great video Andrew!
Tori and virtual riot KILLED IT.
YES!! I also loved the whale song and vocal additions from Christian’s and the techno vibe from Mark’s.
@@angelnichols5408 I personally wasn't all that fond of either of those. But I respect their music making ability they're clearly very talented.
@@insertgenericusernamehere2402 I didn’t like Tori’s, but I can tell she has found her niche. Mark’s was so vibrant, and felt unique.
@@plutosgardener2631 that's fair enough to me the more atmospheric and isolated feeling you get with her's is what perfectly fits a solo space mission kind of show(that the opening sequence portrays)
Okay the production value of this video is off the charts. The amount of thought put in. It’s so provocative and thrilling!
All of the videos about space
That was amazing!
It's interesting that Tori says that it's very important to hit the visual cues whereas Christian says that it's absolutely irrelevant. Two different philosophies right there. I like it how in Tori's score the chord switches from minor to major (it reminded me of the House of Cards theme to some extent). How Christian crafted his mood change from Earth to space was just brilliant (my favourite entry). It the case of Mark, it's quite epic the moment when he extends his motif to make it even more epic towards the end. And for Virtual Riot's score I think he was able to build the pace very smoothly but at a steady rate. It's very difficult to pick the best!
Christian goes in more details in his own video about why he was at first like Tori, before realizing that it might not always be a good idea.
Fantastic series Andrew, I’ve enjoyed every episode with a tremendous amount of learning in each one. This could easily develop into a masterclass series.
Mark Hadley's theme was SO SATISFYING. Put that in a TV Show and I won't ever skip the opening credits.
