This show had messages all the time, they were just clever enough to do it with satire and metaphors. There are two different episodes with a subtle pro-choice message, plus episodes that tackle homophobia, LGBT issues, the disabled, racism and even date rape.
Isn't it odd how people only care about "Preaching" when they DISAGREE with the message? Funny how that works.

NotlobParrot Thing is, in a lot of cases, Seinfeld doesn’t take position on these messages, openning up the discussion rather than telling you what to think (thus becoming preachy). The pizza debate comes to mind.

Seinfeld is brilliant. In an episode about an operatic maestro, the maestro's paranoia about Jerry intruding upon his solace and escape in Tuscany sets into motion a self-fulfilling prophecy, bringing about the very thing he was hoping to avoid. No sitcom before or since has had writing on this level.

The guy says 2 million lira is 1700 american dollars. So when Jerry paid the cab driver he paid 75000 lira which is equivalent to $63.77 according to that established exchange rate. So he did get ripped off, Kramer was right.
Also in 1995 when this was aired, $63.77 would be the equivalent of $105.46 today. So it would need to be a pretty long ride, but not unheard of, since sometimes unworldly travelers might just take a super long cab ride from the airport instead of taking the time to figure out trains etc.
