George, 2 years ago I bumped into you at Magfest and we had a really good chat about games we played throughout the year and projects and work stress etc. It was short but meant a lot to me and we parted ways because a crowd was forming.
Later that night, I opened the door to Rosa's Mexicana with a big group of friends and you were right on the other side, leaving, and with the most annoyed look on your face that my friends and I were blocking your way. We made eye contact for a second and I knew you recognized me, briefly, but it was too late and we were again on opposite sides of the door.
I just want to say that I cherish that moment, I'm sorry for getting in your way, and everything has been worse since that moment. Maybe 2022 will break that curse on both of us. Here's to a new year 💕

All this time I thought it was some weird VR game, because I couldn't think of any other way the chopsticks would float in the air like that.
The bright red chopsticks are designed that way to misdirect your eyes so only your peripheral vision noticed the pasta where the stick is hidden, it’s designed really well!
Jeez, came here to say the same thing. I feel like I have awaken after seeing that rod. :P
I heard the bitterness in that statement George but we're all glad you're doing journalism again, primary research has always been the thing that separated Bunnyhop from the legions of other gaming channels

Such a pleasant surprise seeing Woolie on this video. Weirdly enough the FGC is in a pretty alright place right now? Obviously could always be better, and these new JP titles still aren't batting 100 when it comes to netcode, but they are getting better and matches are getting smoother.
wut
ggst has the best netcode probably ever
@@DaddysFlipside skullgirls has better netcode
@@DaddysFlipside Matches are very good, yes, but the online infrastructure still needs some work. Even after the recent repairs. "Can't connect to duel station" is a common problem and the servers are still rather slow, not to mention the inherent flaws with the tower. You're doing a great job George. We're all real proud of you.
Wow. Didn't think I'd see superbunnyhop talking about the importance of rollback netcode in fighting games
Hoppy New Year everyone! Long as George is out there saying his piece, I know there's something worth waiting for in the year to come~ Which means a lot these days.
"Watch to the end for me to have fun with this" takes on a much different meaning when you're advertising for an adult toy company.
If you ever see this George, I tuned in after a long while and to see the perfect usage of the floating noodles after all this time brightened my heart in these dark days and gave me a much needed chuckle. Thank you
I'm an esential worker, I worked from home for a few weeks during the beginning of the pandemic, and I felt like I was losing my fucking mind, I would've never imagined I would be so happy to go back to the office, interact with real people, the chit-chat when I went to get lunch, etc...I also dont think WFH avoids crunch, since you dont have defined working hours, and now you are paying for the electric bills, some companies are exploiting that, I dont know if it is the case in the video game industry, but it is for a lot of people...
Situation seems pretty grim right now, despite must of us getting vaccinated, this shit just refuses to go away, and we have a new strain every few months putting us back where we began...I'm trying to be positive, trying to think 2022 will be the year when this is finally over, but...it aint easy.
I dont know, George, this whole situation sucks, but...at least we'll always have the japanese noodle sign.
Your content is always worth the wait. Thank you for all the coverage, essays, and amazing experimentation with how reviews and analysis have been presented. Thank you for amazing years worth of content that I will always be rewatching.

Turned out great, George! Thanks for being such a great interviewer!
The Woolie interview was a crossover I did not expect, but nonetheless welcome.
I think the take away with the "working at home vs working in an office" should be that if work from can be viable and the employee can do the work from home then it should be an option for them. More options are usually better than less options, in my opinion.
And there is an economic incentive to doing it as its also cheaper for the employer.
Mr. Bunnyhop, you have no idea how happy I am to see you again. I wish you the best! What a nice way to start of 2022, really :)
Happy new year Mr.superbunnyhop....glad to see you back
I'm so glad you did this video I feel like because the last couple years have been so hard it's difficult to talk about the positives without sounding bad but it's important to look for those in life
Hi George, your work inspires me. Thank you for all the videos in 2021 and happy new year.
Thank you for the video and the good vibes, George. We really appreciate it.
The big downside of GDC shutting down in person was that it was THE industry event where young devs got their foot in the door. The price tag being a huge gate keeper before, now the pandemic has caused the industry to close ranks even further in the AAA space, even with the advent of work from home.
Yeah but most of it was this

Eyyyyyy WOOOLIEEEEEEE, also great job on the video George, I hope you had a happy new year, and wish for this year to bring you joy with your best boy Eddie!
Thank you for the video, George!
This two years have been hard on everyone. Some of my co workers were stuck in ships for almost 1.5 years since no country was allowing disemberkation at the beginning of the pandemic.
Thankfully things are improving a little. It could have improved a lot faster but the ignorance I have seen all around the world this year makes me realise how zombie apocalypse movies are totally unrealistic and world would be destroyed a lot sooner in those cases.
Holy ship... 1.5 years on a boat

I love that the chocobo song plays just as Josh Foreman appears on screen with his Final Fantasy hairstyle.

Hey! It's Josh Foreman! I'm so glad that he landed alright after the Anet layoffs. Was nice seeing him.
As a side note, I really appreciate your channel. I might sometimes watch videos later (am almost a month later on this one), but I pretty much always watch your videos eventually, and I really appreciate 'you doing journalism' things. Here's to a better? 2022. And your dog is very cute.
I always joy when I see a new upload. Thx Bunnyhop you are super!
Thanks for pushing through. Your content has been great through the years and continues to be. Hopefully the world gets to a place at least slightly less existentially depressing soon.
Glad to hear from you again George! Hope to hear ya back on Dad and Sons again soon, love hearing you talk with the fellas.
As somone who's finally got into fighting games this year thanks to the new push for rollback I am very suprised to see it mentioned here but pleasingly so. One of the things that made fighting games inaccessible for so many people is simply not being able to attend local scenes, be it for difficulties getting there or simply a total lack of them and while most games have large communities that play the game online, fighting games are usually their own small circles so unless you've got a group of friends into the same games as you and that live close to you, good luck playing it online with high ping and delayed inputs in a genre where consistency can define matches.
The fact that now we can play people from other countries is insane, rollback is a godsend.
On the other hand, some characters are finally viable online, and now I live in fear.
another thing i've noticed watching my hardcore fighting game fans is that these games sell for 30-60€ and to be "on top of things" you'll end up owning 5-10 titles at least within 2 years, while also being expected to purchase future releases. of course this isn't a necessity and you can focus on just one game, but i've seen it alot and considering the prices of all these games it seems a bit silly.
Think the saddest part of this all is that shooters and MOBAs have always had parts of what makes rollback, and it's just been expected for all those years that they would have that.
Meanwhile (Japanese) fighting games are only catching up now
@@genesises that’s literally any genre though, all throughout the gaming industry… unless you want to be “on top of” indie games instead.
Fighting games aren’t inherently worth less than triple A games imo, but I do agree that the necessity to charge $60-$70 plus dlc just to recoup development cost is a problem with the current game industry. That tune’s been sung for more than a decade now though.
I really liked the format / content of this video!
Hey George, happy new year as well. Hopefully it gets better!
Hey, I'm just glad to see that despite it all you're still here, doing what you can. I think I remember playing games on Steam with you once? At least at one point we did - I don't remember much about that lol
I joined the games industry in recent years and certainly have a lot to say about what it was like working through this pandemic (and continuing to do so). The few videos you've done in the past two years are some of your best work and I hope 2022 kicks ass for you!

I don't even know why, but I always looked forward to George's retrospectives each year, and I definitely have missed them the past few years (to the point I sometimes just rewatched the older ones in early January.)
It's good to see him do it again, even if it's just a single event.
Also goddamn it George you can't just have a sponsor clip for Adam & Eve where you play fetch with your dog!
Big return to form. This is your best video in a long time
I work in mobile games, and the switch to remote has been great for me. I was able to move across the country to make a long-distance relationship become a live-in one (as well as get closer to my family), and I don't have to deal with the hour-each-way SF commute anymore. I know for many it's been tough but honestly most of my in-office communication was done over Slack anyway, so that hasn't changed at all.
I've also been able to watch more YT videos at work. Bonus!
happy new year George 🎉

I love you George. Thanks so much for this.
Among the few and far between positives of 2021, one that stands out for me was the launch of the James Webb Space Telescope. Hubble has done so much with its 30 year old tech over the past few decades and now we have a successor made with modern technology. I look forward to the cool stuff it will show us and the games inpsired by those discoveries.

Rollback is literally a game changer. Blazblue has been sitting in my library for 3 years completely untouched and with the announcement of rollback I’ve been completely hooked on it for the past month
Thank you George
Why am I still laughing at the floating noodles clip its been like five years already? Never gets old.
Hey, Superbunnyhop. Hope your Christmas was at least good.
just wanna clarify that while SFV does have rollback, it has a really shoddy implementation of it that leads to a ton of one-sided rollbacks (one player sees the match perfectly fine, the other one is stuck in a nightmare of constant teleporting and jerking around the screen nonstop) so it shouldn't really be mentioned alongside the other titles in that segment
Guilty Gear Strive should replace it in your memory as the big japanese fighting game that finally adopted good netplay.
