It's sad that Teac has abandoned the uncompromising Hi-Fi sector! Take a look inside a VRDS from the 2000s. The VRDS 25 had a massive aluminium mechanism, the case was divided into 3 distinct parts, the cast aluminium press plate covered the CD, which could not vibrate. Today, I can't imagine a machine built like these magnificent Teac VRDS CD players. Today, they're nothing more and nothing less than PC players in disguise, with a nice gold label on top ! 🙄🙄🙄
Just got it, primarily for my extensive SHM-SACD & MQA-CD collection (over 100 titles combined) and looking forward to the high-quality DAC. But I'm still not sure about how to use Google chromecast on my iPhone as I'm looking to connect to Spotify/Tidal/Apple Music and stream to my Anthem AVM 90 receiver. Wish the Technics had a friendly built-in GUI (graphical user interface) so I wouldn't have to use third party apps thru my iPhone. Next time GL700M3 add HDMI connector for SACD stereo & multi-channel output and also allow us to connect to a home theater receiver and see a menu on our TV so we can control everything from SACD to streaming.
A huge price premium for something that uses off the shelf chips costing a few dollars and a bog standard CD/DVD transport. The usual Hi-Fi marketing about exotic components that are available to anyone for a few cents each and will make little difference to the sound. The biggest irony is if the digital output is used then it makes no difference what the components are as the audio remains in the digital domain anyway, and any cheap DVD player would do the exact same job as a transport. It isn't even Made in Japan like all good Hi-Fi used to be. Nice to see the Technics brand back in use on CD players but it is a rip off product.
RIGHT PATH, TECHNICS!
Ah, now this is a gorgeous unit! I'm also glad to see that SACD is still with us, as it's the only digital coding method that comes close to analog.
Beauty 👍🏻
Superb👌👌👌 🌹🌹🌹

The display screen of the SL-G700 failed 3 years after purchasing it. 😔

What is the DAC mk2 use this time?
$3.5K seems high for a product without multichannel SACD outputs and a small display screen.
Can anybody compare the sound characteristic of the original version (DAC Chip: AKM 4497) and the new M2 Version (DAC Chip: ESS 9026 Pro)?
3.5k?
Balanced outputs that can’t connect to the SU G 700M2 because it has no balanced connections.
No HDMI out = No SACD Multi-Channel Playback.
