Why do I never see reviews of Hagan anywhere but with Christof? Ski mag, outdoor gear lab, etc.... I would never have even known about them. Appreciate your gear reviews man! They are really well made (as are your channels videos in general - we've stolen a few of your itineraries and used your videos for beta)
I really like your description of a “mission ski”. In those outings, you often end up with bad snow in some, or even all, parts of the descent, so having a solid, reliable ski is quite important, for fun as well as safety and speed.
Good Review! I got Ultra 87 176cm (older model) last spring and it really rips. I bought it for spring (and summer) missions at Northern Norway Lyngen, Kågen and Arnoya - ski really delivered. It's amazing how much power it has for such a light and agile ski. So for this season I purchased their Boost 99, which I also really like. Hagans are just awesome skis
I just bought my first pair of carbon backcountry boots (Dynafit Blacklights) because of you guys... well... I bought a much lighter carbon setup all around (skis too). I'd be interested to hear any tips on how to ski a lighter setup all around. Taking the step down from a mid-weight setup to the light setup has felt like a big change to me.
Interesting. I live in Japan and the ski I use for powder missions is the Locator 112 that you also reviewed. My spring/early season volcano missions is the Blackcrows Orb Freebird 90, but it doesn’t float well enough on powder days, so really surprised to hear that you had fun skiing Yotei’s powder. I also ski WNDR Vital 98 if there is the possibility to find some powder in the top. Just my 2 cents
Thanks for the great review! I am looking to update my skis and doubting between the Hagan Core Carbon 92 and the Boost 94. The goal is to simply use the skis 95% of the time in the European Alps. This includes boot packing and objectives (Gran Paradiso is next, in April). Currently using the backland 85, but that floats okish. skis good on icy terrain but feels like crap on anything a bit more challenging. What do you think would be the best one to go for and why?
I'm 6'2 165 lbs and ski the 176 with mounting at the recommended spot. I think it rides just perfect and wouldn't change anything. Maybe size up if you think you're going to do a lot of overnight stuff with a heavier pack or if you want extra stability (which I don't think you need)
Yes I'm 5' 10.5" and 170 lbs. Mounted on recommended. With a ski like this I don't think I could come up with a good reason to mount anywhere else IMHO.
@@cnuila Do you see any reason to get the Ultra 84 172 over the Ultra 89 170? I currently run the Dynafit Dhaulagiri 99s and am looking for a lighter, shorter, and skinnier objective ski.

You guys should do a "what's in the bag" video for backcountry skiing!
Thanks for the great review of our Skis! Greetings from the R&D Team from Hagan Ski
Thanks for making them!
I like the reference to the Austrian ski instructor. Such an iconic character in the skiing realm.

Thank you for the review. I think i’m finally ready to pony up and get some ski gear of my own and Cristof’s wisdom has been a huge help
Carbon toothpick is such a good description.
Hello, how do these skis behave on harder, broken ground in the downhill, apart from powder?
Does it come close to Core Carbon 89?
Thanks
Thanks for the great review!

I have the Boosts and LOVE them. Great freeride feel but still very light
Awesome review!!
What are your physical dimensions? How tall are you? This is an awesome review, I am kinda sold. ISO of an expedition ski.
I'm 5'10.5" and 170ish lbs.
How tall are you skiing the 170? Did you mount at recommended?

@@zuhairlateef8070 Do you mean the 178? The Ultra 89 us offered in the 170 and 178.
He has said in other videos he is 5'10".

Have you skied any of the BD cirque series skis?
I have not
Boring top sheet though 😂
