    I know I'm late to the party here, but when you played the clips to demonstrate the "noisy pump", I thought to myself "hey- that sounds like my tensioner before I replaced it." LOL...

      Yeah, we had a bad pulley and later we snapped a tensioner.
      We still have a loud ass pump and groaning from the rack, but that’s to be expected with the HOWE kit

    The idler pulls bearing is usually the bad one from my experience . I've changed a few of them for buddies . Just pull the roller and change the bearing I usually have about 4 or 5 spare bearings that size for spares .

      @@KeepItDirtyOffRoad more importantly the pump can be be installed and removed very easily because the bracket is threaded (no nuts to hold) and the pulley doesn’t need to be removed

      I know this is a long time ago and just watched this video but when I did mine I remember putting those nuts and bolts on an entire adapter bracket and then installing pump and all on the truck to the two bolts the factory pump mounted with. Never removed much of anything. Hardest part for me was bleeding all the lines properly. Sorry for being so late to the game but hope this helps

    Stock pump really isn’t that bad. I’ve had mine for 3 years and it’s fine. It’s people neglecting the whole system. Change the fluid regularly. Get a cooler. And get a bigger reservoir and you’re fine as long as you’re not running bigger than 37s or going to the Baja 1000 every weekend

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  2 года назад

      Where you based?

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  2 года назад

      Saw your comment that your based on the east coast. So the trails out east are fairly tame and you guys mainly see street driving. For the street the stock pump is fine.
      But the for the hard off-roading we do here in SoCal, it’s not enough and they fail often. Even with a cooler and more oil. The goal of these systems is to have the pump and the rack last longer. And with the kits from Lee or HOWE, pump and rack life is much longer.

  • @pistolpete8031

    I hope you got the right belt. Belts stretch a little but never had one take even two people. Remember you have a super charger not a regular belt. The Tensioner should be about midway so it has some movement in either direction

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  2 года назад +1

      It’s the right belt. I talked to SVC, HRD, and a few other shops and they all had the same problem. the supercharged trucks suck when it comes to installing the belts. They all have the same exact problem, it fits too tight and overtime it will stretch and chew itself up. But their guys are much stronger than my wimpy ass.

    So do you hang out with someone that has a Gen1 with factory suspension that goes out with you? For example I have Fox shocks with Icon leaf springs any one with a set up like that I’m just curious on how they do on the trail and what kind of stuff that break on the truck?

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  Год назад

      Any stock raptor can run with us. We call out all the truck busting obstacles based on GPS mile markers we all share so it’s really up to the driver to drive within their means and what the truck can handle. We get stock trucks all the time. Most common damage is flats or bent skid plates when someone has an oh shit moment. Usually from not paying attention to a radio call or something like that. But they are rare. Flats will be the most common

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  2 года назад

      Schedules keep conflicting for some reason. Everytime I put a serious run together he’s MIA. I know he’s off-roading his but mainly short stuff. Jumps, drag races. But not long trails yet. Hopefully soon we can figure it out.

      Combination of the dealer and local auto parts store.
      Pump, since I have the HOWE system, I got directly from HOWE. Stock pump you can get anywhere. But if you go aftermarket pump system get the Lee system. It’s much quieter and works just as good

    Small groups are way better I totally agree.
    It’s absolute BS when you have some hot dog with a fully built rig leaving the group behind, failing to call turns or not holding for them either. This is why large groups are not for everyone, if you can’t be a team player then don’t run with the pack.

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  2 года назад +1

      Totally agree. I always hate having to treat grown ass men like children sometimes. Worst one for me was a guy that showed up late, was rude and did not listen during the drivers meeting. Hot dogged most of the day, did not hold turns and we lost 3 trucks that missed the turn he was supposed to hold, andjust did not care about the group, just his fun. That fuck is banned and never invited again.

    Is the Howe harder to replace than a stock pump? I replaced mine in 45 minutes🤷 used a flex head ratcheting wrench

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  2 года назад +1

      In a few ways it is. For one it’s larger, 2nd it has an adapter plate because it’s a GM pump. So removing it from the plate is a little more difficult. And lastly, the new lines are bigger and stick out further so there is even less space
