Not gonna lie, I am very happy the Marauder lived and snagged some objectives. That artillery was fantastic. Also, really loved seeing the new banners on display! Thanks for the dope narrative battle! Can't wait to see part 3!

Ok, since you guys asked nice... Dan has a beautiful face and I love your paintjobs! Lol. Awesome battle report as always! I really like this campaign format, and I'm excited to see how the last episode plays out.
That iconic Clan fury in that turn 3 shooting. I feel bad for our FWL mechs. The whole game was such a brawl. Hoping to see that marauder at the space port next round!
What a nail-biter! I thought for sure the Inner Sphere was done for in this one, but the twists and turns brought it right down to the wire. Awesome vid as always. Love the new banners as well!
Couldn’t agree more with you Aaron about your comments about missing the succession war era. Easiest to run, easiest to balance, and most importantly….easiest to teach new and inexperienced players. Sometimes, less is more 🤷♂️
Forty-two more shots. Forty-two... I spent some time in Deep Thought and remembered that today at work someone mentioned that we had achieved 42% of our annual timber target. Damn bureaucratic government meeting took the rest of the day, but it felt like 7.5 million yrs. OK, Hitchhiker's references aside, I still can't believe you won Aaron. I thought Dan was going to wipe you off the board. Hope you fellas enjoyed your wings. Cheers!
Such a shame that the Inner Sphere dogs won the day. Obviously the Clans were not expecting artillery in honorable combat. That Stalker, man what a beast!!!! Great game as always!!!!
Oh boy! I have been waiting a bunch for the next installment, while binge watching the previous battle reports. Though there was that sinking feeling of dread at seeing the artillery being fielded. Dezgra Avatar Knights, dezgra! *rolls up newspaper for swatting* Really hoping to see Clan Wolf claw and bite their way back. They could use a big win. I like the banners a lot. I like to think that Thunderbolt there is kept as a reminder to Aaron of all the ammo booms that Kevin, Thom, and Matt have found at his expense. Been meaning to ask: What size maps do you guys use?
@@DeathfromAboveWargaming Now that I've seen the video, I enjoyed it a lot. Dan came out swinging for the fences for that group with the King Crab, the Stalker, the Longbow, and the tanks. Felt for a good portion of the battle like Dan was making a vengeful comeback from previous matches. Giant enemy crab....Hit the weak point for massive damage! And then followed up next turn by snapping the Longbow. Dan was smart to avoid the King Crab's LBX-20 shotgun wedding proposals. I felt sad that Wolf Empire/Clan Wolf lost again and had to withdraw. The regular Timber Wolf might have worked for tangling up with the Marauder, instead of letting him be unmolested. Hopefully the next mission will have Wolf Empire/Clan Wolf stand their ground. At some point heels must dig in. I'll be rewatching the Destiny playlist to try and figure out the movement system you use. I'm on a mission to seed that image of a Fire Moth G moving w/ MASC and Supercharger active, transporting a point of Elementals on turn 1 into your nightmares, Aaron.
You definitely check out the 3D printable terrain by Stellar Terrain. They have a set that will allow you to have a Core reactor setup. It would look dope with Battletech.
About to start this video now after the last one, really digging getting to watch campaign play in action between people doing "tweaks" based on experience. Reading the mission profile, the only thing confusing me is the points for "defending targets" - is that tallied if the Attacker has to retreat, or is that scored in some other fashion? I know my first reaction is to score those points at the end since the Attacker can score points for 'merely damaging' the targets... so it might be possible to rack points up firing on those targets without killing them. Then again, the Defender scores points for breaking the attacking units, which would be the reason they'd have to withdraw (as opposed to time running out) so... Hm. I know I'm probably overthinking this, but I play with people who really do NEED to get loopholes closed :)
Oh right, also need to pay the fee with a compliment... Damn I wish my "board" would look half as good, but I don't have the time to make the hex-based terrain look better :)
@@DeathfromAboveWargaming I think I already got 'em when the Nova Cats were doing their thing. The next step is printing them out and sharing them with my brother, so he can get an idea of what "unofficial scenarios" exist. (While we also plan on printing out the old 'MechWarrior Dark Ages' organized play missions to look at as well.)
That was a FANTASTIC match! The deployment was perfect on both sides IMO. The dice rolls were insane but the plays were tactical/just plain brutal. I'ma clan lover thanks to mech 2 growing up but I have special love for inner sphere mechs thanks to robotech(no thanks to the company that shall not be named) Battletech forever! Keep these battle report coming! I listen when I'm relaxing or painting up minis!
The early dash of salt was pretty amusing, particularly considering how the game ended. I feel like it always goes this way with clan vs IS. That hardened armor Stalker was crazy. Might be better to just knock it over with charge attacks rather than try and kill it.
Watching the second turn, maybe for splash damage weapons like artillery, the attack direction should be dictated from the landing point of the round rather than the firing direction. I'm not familiar with Alpha Strike, but if there are different location charts for sides than front, you could use those for a bit more realism (the same arm of adjacent mechs wouldn't be hit)
The issue is that the vehicles didn't count for victory points, which makes sense, but it means one side had half its activations and a chunk of damage dealing that helped one side and was a complete detriment to the other. Whenever Dan shot at a tank or would have been shooting at artillery those were lost activations for him because he gets no points for them. So he's wasting a mechs shooting to get rid of something that can score points (shooting mechs and bases) but he gets no points. That is something that needs to be changed, since otherwise someone can take a force of all vehicles and just barrage the bases, blow up three, and then give up, since none of their force gives any points. If each vehicle was worth .5 points, after the Maurader blew up base 3, the FWL would have had 6 points, while Dan would have had 6 points and could pull out a win by destroying artillery. I get its tough to balance, because vehicles are squishier then most mechs, but those snipers did 25+ damage to mechs and a decent amount to bases. Which is to say they alone did more damage then the Ice Ferret.
Good thoughts, but the narrative campaign was less about tournament-level balancing and more about the story unfolding in a cinematic way. The Marauder was able to sneak around and knock the power grid offline.
One balance could be that the Pyrhic rule counts for mechs only. Like, it really feels like a Pyrhic victory when you left the 3 heaviest mechs as smoking wrecks on the battlefield.
The variant choice was questionable. J, Prime, and B are the better choices. The J is the weird one where you need to rush something or set up an ambush.
With how much they ask "Does that mech still have edge?" I feel there should be a box with big letters that reads EDGE that you can check off when it's used.
I agree the later eras are tough for picking the right variant, but personally, I like Clan and IS in 3050s. My vote is for more Clan; Clan on Clan or Clan on IS. Maybe you could do Operation Klondike?

Haha so as I understand it, when the Wolf Empire took over parts of FWL space (which was at the time the Stewart-Marik commonwealth), the people ended up being recruited (?) to join the ranks of the Wolf military. Namely Theta Galaxy. The Avatar Knights broke with FWL proper and went to the Clan front in the 3050s, and worked as mercs through the Civil War.
