My mother “Viva”* was full of kindness
Her principles were in someway meritorious.
She was born from a mother
Escaping from known genocide**
At the end of her life,
She kept saying,
“I had a great luck to survive.”
She always wanted us to be the best
In everything, we sense.
We must do things accurately
The way she passionately obsessed.
She wished always to be wealthy,
Not for herself, but to care for orphans.
Never bought herself jewels
She tailored the models she liked.
She had a great enthusiasm in life.
Believing life is hard, born to face.
Encouraging us endlessly, saying
“You should study till you achieve;
What she missed in her life.”

*Viva: Victoria Mehran Dabbaghian: (January 10, 1910-March 12, 2002), born in Diyarbakir, in Anatolia (South of Turkey which was Armenian Highland)) to educated parents. After arriving in Syria, she attended Armenian Catholic School in Aleppo, learning, French, Arabic, also writing in old Turkish. She remained a housewife but continued to teach French language as private tuition for college students.
From a young age she used her talent for the embroidering and creating many designs; according to her wish her embroideries were donated to Handcraft Museum in Yerevan, Armenia at 2002.
