  • "There's always a little bit of extra pressure when you are demoing the boss' model." - Bryan Ewald
    Designed and played by Paul Reed Smith for players and guitar aficionados the world over. “These guitars have a beautiful look and a highly musical tone that I love,” Paul Reed Smith.
    Carrying on the Modern Eagle tradition, Paul’s Guitar is essentially a production version of his Private Stock guitar. Paul specified every appointment of this instrument from the wood selection and inlay design to the pickups. Paul’s Guitar is now offered with the option of PRS’s patented Gen III tremolo bridge or a stoptail bridge with brass inserts. “The stoptail bridge is still our aluminum bridge but at the point at which the string starts vibrating its brass to promote the musical high range of the guitar,” said Paul. With exclusive “brushstroke” bird inlays and two TCI pickups, this guitar is not only unique...it’s the guitar that Paul Reed Smith has been playing in his studio and on the stage.

    I would think a guitarmaker like Paul would have a goal of creating an instrument that would be an artist's number one, go-to guitar. I think he may have achieved it here. If you paired this with a great amp you might put pedal-makers out of business. A great range of sounds and the tones are just phenomenal! The guitar is also beautiful to look at. Thank you Bryan for another great demo. Wow what a guitar! Standing "O" for Paul on this one!

    Great guitar and i'm seriously considering the SE version since I'm not super rich like Paul ;) My only issue is the placement of the pickup selector switch. That seems far too out of the way imo. This would be ok if you didnt switch a lot during solo's but there are plenty of guitarists out there that switch a lot during solo's. I think it would have been better to use the same type of switch thats on something like a strat. There seems to be plenty of room below the tone and coil tap switches for a regular strat type switch like this and I dont think it would get in the way of using those two switches.

    I have a feeling that the most of the Radio Rock songs of the '00s and '10s were recorded with PRS guitars (and that's a good thing!)! I was looking for a pedal that could do the coil-split thing and PRS added this feauture on their guitars! I love it! What I don't like is that the PRS guitars that interest me come with tremolo bridges. I prefer the tune-o-matic and stoptail bridges.

    • @smaug9617
      @smaug9617 Год назад

      PRS with stoptail have more sustain, and it’s better for me than having a tremolo.

  • @clairejohnston4593
    @clairejohnston4593 5 лет назад +1

    I agree with Bryan that this is probably the best sounding guitar at both genuine single coil and humbucker tones. Is this the only current guitar in the lineup with the new pickup wiring? If the semi-hollow special had this wiring that would be literally the most versatile guitar on the planet!

    • @manuedwards6959

      Stephen Docherty I agree but here is the question, why do people continue to nay say. I get it , we all want all the frills and trimmings. If I’m paying this much for one instrument I may only have one instrument.

    • @manuedwards6959
      @manuedwards6959 4 года назад +1

      Stephen Docherty I should have been more concise. I agree with what you are saying completely and it is all in what the player wants and how they feel about the instrument. I owned an 03 ce 22 but for the life of me I couldn’t tell you that it is “better” than my se custom 24. There were differences sure but not for that price. But you know, people have to make sure that they are justified, that’s why you get the statements about the quality.

    • @manuedwards6959
      @manuedwards6959 4 года назад

      Stephen Docherty it was a brilliant instrument that I didn’t appreciate at the time. I would have to have a ce or core side by side to really tell the difference at this time. The rotary controls looked cool but weren’t really functional for me. That Tremonti has a similar neck shape to the se custom 24 may be a bit thinner but not by much. The pickups aren’t 85/15s though.

    • @manuedwards6959
      @manuedwards6959 4 года назад

      I adore the maple necks and the only “core” guitars to have them are the ce 24 and the custom 24 floyd. That’s a pretty big price difference as the ce is 2K USA not sure what it is in euros or gbp if you are in those locations. The ce is a lovely guitar and in my eyes the best PRS that you can get your hands on.

      And my (two) fantastic Yamaha Pacifica 604Ws are truly single-coil when 'split'. Ideal 'Strat' tones, IMO. The year those came out (late '90s?), Guitar Player did a shoot-out of about 35 'Strat' style guitars and the 604W was, IIRC, in the top three. They described the "humbucker" mode as "more favoring a SC tonality rather than a typical HB pickup". (YUP!) Back when I bought it, I sat way in the back of a shop buried in the amp row, and for 2 hrs, I swapped the 604W for many Fenders, inc some Custom Shop ones, and the 604W was the one I happily walked away with that day. (NOT a matter of the cost.) The guys behind the counter couldn't see which was which, but they could clearly hear, and they were stunned that the 604W had basically kinda killed the Fenders.
      Sorry, off topic a bit. *NOT AT ALL* to diss PRS in ANY way, just telling my tale. lol. Actually, to be honest, I own over a dozen PRSes, each one unique and definitely most excellent. And no, PRS was not the first to offer "true single-coil" tonality in a HB guitar, but so what? This guitar sounds GREAT. IMO and YMMV.
      Finally, no, pleaseeee.... now I'm gonna want ANOTHER PRS! You guys are just plain mean! (*GREAT demo and explanation, Bryan!*)

    I swapped out my cheap shitty pick ups for Seymour Duncan's on a Yamaha erg 121 and it sounds amazing. Saved myself 5 grand buying one of these. So who's the idiot!? Lol

    Even if "Paul's Guitar" is the model name, putting the article in front of it without any additional explanation or markings is an atrocity against the English language.
    Removing "the", or adding some indication that "Paul's Guitar" is the model name would have caused a much better impression.
    The new model: Paul's Guitar
    Or
    The "Paul's Guitar" series / model
    Anything but that criminally uneducated way of writing it.

    Still a non intonateble bridge, for different string gauges and/or tunings. Wtf.
