Great idea. I bought new racquetball balls. I cut them along the seam and then trimmed off about 1/8" with snips. Then I bent the half ball inside out and used my disc sander to slowly "tune" the popper. I'd test by tossing flat to the floor. Eventually it would start to "pop" but only about 4 feet since the energy to overcome the inside out bend was still high. As I slowly sanded more and tested by spinning and tossing to the floor, the height would increase and eventually hit the ceiling. Then, with some more gentle sanding, I could get it to pop on its own with about a 2 second delay. Without the disc sander, I think it would be difficult to set these up right just by using knife or scissors. One trim too much and it wouldn't stay inverted inside out.
Awesome!! We can even squeeze it for a longer time and then keep the popper on our alarm clocks... Then when the alarm vibrates the popper would go off! Set it in right position or u may get hurt...

My desk drawers are full of cranes, paper balloons, boomerangs, paper jets, ninja stars... and other paper things I don`t know what they`re called.

Hey man, the music in the background is from my MacBook Pro's iMovie program, and is called "Spacey Club". I thought it gave a nice upbeat background music so you don't have to hear me breathing! lol. I agree, the tennis ball probably would be a little more tricky :-)
for those of you who like to keep knifes that are razor sharp they work just fine I tried. (I have a rather expensive Japanese chefs knife that worked perfectly VERY clean cut)
Rob I really love all of your origami videos for exemplo the ninja star,paper pop,transforming ninja star,also the box,and did you ever make a eagle of origami paper?
Did you guys know that the arches of our feet are poppers in the way they convex smack into the earth as the arch inverts/collapses? This naturally sends a sonic boom up into the concave roof of the mouth for untold jumping ability.
What I would do is I would saw the ball but a centimeter or so off to one side, that way I could then use scissors to cut along the inside line accurately and thus avoiding any rips. Of course I have not done this yet but I feel that it would be easier. Or would this procedure effect the outcome?
