Minnesota is an “open distribution” state so there are a lot of distributors and all of them could have allocated bourbon. They tend to give those bourbons to big stores like total wine because they want to keep them happy and not change distributors. This tends to keep prices pretty similar across the board but makes it difficult for small independent stores to get much allocated bourbon
As a MN native, I am embarrassed for selections we have at our stores. A couple buddies and I always drop into different shops around the Twin Cities. Mostly museum prices and very rare to come across allocated. Keep hunting! SoDak & NoDak are hunting spots for us and we stumble across a gem or two every trip. GL
Rochester, MN resident here! Love the channel! It is insanity when it comes to rare bourbon up here. It's all about who you know and getting lucky. I found Buffalo Trace, Antique 107, and Bourbon cream at a Kwik Trip for MSRP in Byron 10 miles down the road and that was a really big deal around here.
Nice of you to come through Minnesota/Wisconsin. Now you understand what the situation is like here. It's mostly a bourbon desert unless you play the lottery/raffle, get lucky and find something, know the store delivery days, know the store owner or are willing to grossly overpay.
I love me some Brewzle but I'd be lying if I didn't say it's rather annoying to go into a store, ask 150 questions and not buy anything. I think a best practice is to buy a bottle, or something, when the owners are extremely nice, courteous and provide competitor recommendations, like the first store. Its just good business.
Yeah, he def does some stereotypical "tater" behavior. The universal rule is to bring a bottle up that you are going to buy. This can be something cheap like an Old Grand Dad 114, and then ask some questions to show you are wanting to support the store.
Agree, this is a politeness thing. If the owners don't interact, that's one thing, but if you chat for a long while, you should buy something. A beer. A mini. Whatever.
I’m sure it’s too late but I was in South Dakota 2 years ago and went to badlands distillery and they had some fabulous bourbons! Definitely a must see. A small operator that’s distilling all their own in house
If you ever stumble upon Tattersall again, their high rye bottled in bond and their rye are both amazing. Their BIB has continually beat Wild Turkey Rare Breed, Penelope Barrel Strength, and Old Forester 1920 in blinds we’ve done. Keeper’s Heart Cask Strength is also a damn good pick.
Brewzle. ****Far North Spirits**** 4th gen farmer inherited the farm. Plowed everything under and went Frey Ranch before I heard about Frey. They are also the rye supplier for most of the craft distillers in MN. Quality people and quality spirits. Try the Bodalen bourbon.

That is really cool you went to see Bob at Woody's! I don't drink anymore but Bob is a really nice guy. Woody and the previous owner Ed were really good guys too. Hopefully that place stands the test of time for awhile against the chain stores.
If you haven’t tried Hemingway’s first edition rye I highly recommend, it’s 94% 9 year Indiana straight rye and 6% 4 year Kentucky straight rye finished in rum seasoned Oloroso sherry cask right at 100 proof, great guys too I got a signed bottle a few weeks ago.
If you're in the upper midwest, which you are, I recommend Lacrosse Distilling's Robber's Rye. I'm a bourbon guy but love their ryes. Give this a shot. I've had the High Hawk and that's pretty good too.

Doc Swinsons BIB Rye is a for sure buy.
Even with a $10 markup, I wouldn’t have passed on the 4R OESO. It was a tier 1, hence the lower proof. OESO is the most desirable & difficult to find.
Keeper’s Heart does some really interesting stuff! If you can find one of their American/Irish blends it’s unlike anything else I’ve ever had.
Missed out on the 10,000 drops. I live in Owatonna. That's a great bourbon.
You NEED to try Adictivo Small Batch Whiskey!!! I promise you it’s worth it. I promise you it is so incredibly slept on
Check out Princetons Liquors in the Twin Cities! Always able to find a little bit of everything there
Rock filtered is a local SE MN distillery that does some interesting stuff with their mash bills. Worth trying for sure
I don’t even drink but I like watching brewzle 😂
If you want the most bang for your buck, you have to get the Jim Beam single barrel 108 proof. Surprisingly delicious.
There’s a couple really good honey holes in the Minneapolis area, definitely don’t sleep on Keepers heart. Check out Princeton liquor In Maple Grove MN
I never pass on a Four Roses store pick. OF and KC store picks are pretty common and I have numerous bottle at home. I only buy those if someone I trust has already tried them and thinks it's exceptional.
Bourbon isn't just a drink..it's a way of life
Theres a good spot in Marshall Minnesota. Its the land of bookers from my experience. 3 places had it, all under $100.
"i don't usually look at the price of it"

@@Brewzle sweet, keep up the great work.
That Old Hell Roaring by Crooked Waterthat you picked up and commented on the label of, is one you should definitely try sometime. One of my favorites.
Should've stopped at Forager brewery in Rochester...they produce excellent barrel aged stouts. Food is great also
Come to Chicago! We get some decent stuff at horrible markups, but come anyway! Have some deep dish pizza!
Please pick up one of those J Henry’s that you keep walking past. If you can find a J Henry Patton Road or a La Flamme grab it for sure!
You have to come to Southern California! Try out Mission Wine & Spirits, Uncle Fossil’s Wine & Spirits, Today Wine & Spirits, Jason’s Wine & Spirits, you won’t be disappointed!
