Imagine the UTD team of 97, just as they were about to enter their prime, being involved in a crash that killed Giggs, Scholes, Beckham, etc. After '58, Real Madrid went on the win 5 European Cups in a row. This would not have happened had the Busby Babes survived.
United's flag is deepest red, It shrouded all our Munich dead, Before their limbs grew stiff and cold, Their heart's blood dyed it's every fold. Then raise United's banner high, Beneath it's shade we'll live and die, So keep the faith and never fear, We'll keep the Red Flag flying here. We'll never die, we'll never die, We'll never die, we'll never die, We'll keep the Red flag flying high, Because Man United will never die.
Dave Felmer Arrogant views like these are the reasons people hate you, not because of your success. Real United fans cherish every win, because '58 shows that success can be taken away in an instant, being top blokes and having respect lasts longer.
This was one of my favorite videos from FTD ! It took me several attempts to finish watching this coz I was too emotional to continue ! Thank you Mr. Bobbins and Gaz for doing this ! Really appreciate it !
FullTimeDEVILS So we can expect more of him in the future? Brilliant stuff, love hearing the thoughts of the older generation on how we are now, they've seen it all as Ray just shown.
FullTimeDEVILS What type of scouse or man city bastard?! Will fuckin dislike?! Theres bloody 5 dislikes F U HU EVER DISLIKED SCOUSE BASTARDS?! #GGMU!! SALAM/BYE!! LIKE!! #GGMU!!
I am a younger United fan and I live in Manchester and to this day it still gets to me how other fans like Manchester City fans can disrespect those who died in the Munich air disaster.
One of their own ex-players who was a journalist at the time died on that plane, Frank Swift was his name and had over 300 apps for City. No True City fan would ever mock what happened in Munich
I have recently experienced something similar as a die hard Australian cricket fan with Phillip Hughes' death. I couldn't believe how much it affected me, even today i can't watch cricket with the same joy i used to. For a whole plane to crash filled with players you follow passionately is something on a whole different level. Lets hope it will never happen again.
I live in Adelaide, it is terrible what happened, deeply affected our entire sporting nation... im sure he would want all fans to continue enjoying cricket in his memory.
When I first heard about him getting hit, I thought he was going to be alright and we'll get on with our lives. As well as Phil. It was just a true shock when I heard him pass away.
Speaking to my Grandad who saw this team play and was couldn't stop giving them praise about how brilliant they were. In particular, Duncan Edwards; describing how he was the greatest player he has ever seen and how he could play literally anywhere on the field. Such a tragedy. They will be missed.
I grew up with the class of 92 like most united of today. Imagine that treble winning team coming back from turin after beating Juventus and the plane crashing. Giggs scholes beckham sheringham yorke cole irwin neville butt keane pallister schmeichel a young wes brown was in that squad. Such a tragedy. Imagine where the club would be had these lads survived? We'd be an even bigger club than we are now and that's saying somehting. I'm getting a little teary eyed here writing this because even though it happened 30 years before i was even born it still pains me as a united fan to see so man players and executives who had so much to live for lose their lives. RIP Babes
it's things like this that sort of make you think how unappreciative the modern day footballer is, the wage was poor, pitch conditions were awful and tackles were dangerous but they'd get up and carry on, I'm only 23 but can you honestly see any top player now doing national service.
I find it hard to comprehend how someone has put a dislike to this video. Sickening really. Good video, such a tragic amount of lives lost to a horrible disaster.
I am a Chelsea fan and I think your videos are top class.Sometimes I will always end up being here before my day ends. The amount of effort that goes in making those class videos is just heartening to see just as a admirer of the sport we all love!Look forward to your videos all the time post and pre weekend.Good stuff guys!Keep them coming!Last, think I will be lying if I say I came on to this video and didn't shed a tear in the memory of those who left in this tragedy!Lest We Forget! #flowersofmanchester
Despite only learn about that disaster from articles and movies, I almost cry every time thinking how tragic and shocking the talented players died. Also proud on how they rise again from the tragedy to become the football club that we loved today
Words don't suffice when you talk about Munich. No matter how good or bad the players were, the incident really torments emotionally. I saw the movie 'United' few years back. It gave one different perspective which Ray reflected upon here; the emotional attachment there was with those players. Jimmy Murphy deserves great credit for the much cliched 'revival' of the club. Munich Air Crash is one of the biggest reasons why I fell in love with the club as a kid. Was really hit hard by it. Thanks for this, FTD. YERRRRRRNIIIIITED!!!!!!!! x
I could listen to that man talk about the Busby babes all day long, it must have been such a difficult time I couldn't begin to imagine, may they RIP and never be forgotten.
I think it's great that an elder supporter gives perspective and insight to the following generation of fans who wasn't even born then how that affected not only the club but the supporters and the whole football world. You can read about it, you can try to imagine it but to hear from a person who went through it and his emotions following the disaster is different and much more meaningful imo. Thanks to Ray and FTD.
I had chills watching this tribute... Very nicely done guys. It doesn't matter what the rivalry is, when there is a disaster like the Munich air disaster, Hillsborough, The Valley Parade fire or the wall collapse at Burden park, when tragedy like this strikes, EVERYBODY should come together to show their solidarity towards other supporters and teams alike. After all, this is the beautiful game, and when you see everybody standing as one to show their respect to those who have lost their lives in these tragedies, it truly shows how beautiful the game can be. R.I.P
Glad to see Gaz getting more involved with the Channel, think with Howson Sam, Mac and Gaz we have a great core, not to forget whoever else is there behind the scenes, assuming there are. Keep up the superb work guys, your content has just kept getting better, it truly is the best Fan Channel.
As a young lad, watching some remarkable United teams, my granddad used to always tell me about the Busby Babes, the heroics of Harry Gregg and the reaction to the news. Even though I and many other fans were not around at the time, we'll never forget Munich.
Man Utd fan here from Boston. It's amazing to hear how profound the impact that Munich had on everything about United. It's obviously a different situation, but when the Marathon was bombed in 2013... It was absolutely amazing how the city banded together, particularly what the influence that it had on our sports teams. This was a wonderful video I hope to see more stuff like this from you guys.
This really put the season under Moyes in perspective. I could not imagine it happening with United football heroes I have grown up with such as Scholsey, Giggs, etc.
Even at only 15 years old, I even got emotional while watching this. My grandfather who has Alzheimers lived during this period also, So being able to hear another first hand experience was something special.
Best video i have seen so far on FullTimeDevils. Fantastic to hear from an older fan, such as Ray. Would love to hear more from him. Great work again FTD. You guys are doing a great job with this channel. Greetings from a danish Manchester United fan.
Thank you for including Ray for his perspective on the The Munich Air Disaster of 1958. Obviously Ray will not be around forever and it is good to get this story on video from him. I would encourage you to include Ray in some of your future videos from FullTimeDEVILS .
It is disgraceful how ANYONE could dislike this video! I am a true united fan, always have been and forever will be, though i still have respect for the liverpool disaster and the whole 'justice for 96'. No matter what team you support, respect where respect is due!
One of the greatest video you have performed for us. Thanks ftd I don't know why people complain about the background music it seems perfectly fine to me
i am glad i did not have to live through this..it's pain i could not imagine let alone bear...to lose the lads you love and adore to an air crash.. terrible that.. can't imagine the pain ray must have gone through
We loved you then we love you now.The babes live on in my dreams. The flowers will never die and in heaven they bloom more each day.Dave a lucky red who saw simply the best.
The crash that shouldn't of happened, I still feel as if it happened yesterday. We will always remember our Busby Babes and you will never be forgotten ❤
Somethings Are more important than football. As A Leeds united fan I find it utterly disgusting that fans still sing the Munich song. A dark dark day for football.
What gets me the most is that my Grandma says the only time she EVER saw her dad cry was when her mum walked into the room and said "Dunc's dead." 2 weeks after the actual crash.
Great video lads, v emotinal had goosebumps watching it, there gone but not forgotten, we'll keep the red flag flying high because manchester united will never die, r.i.p busby babes and everyone else that lost their lives on the darkest day in english football
I endorse everything that Ray says - just normal every day boys who just happened to be able to play football for the club which they loved. Always a credit to their clubs, the countries for whom they played, but mostly, to themselves.
Too right. This was a time when players were construction workers, butchers at the local meat shop, firemen, police officers and during the evenings and a Saturday afternoon they were footballers. You could go to a meat shop to purchase your goods and it would be prepared by a man who plays for United then you'd go cheer him on as he scores.
Joshua Bulloch You're thinking earlier on, they were professional footballers, just earning about the same as the average working man, as the maximum wage wasn't abolished by the FA until later.
FullTimeDEVILS It is though. Look at non-league sides and grassroots, football is very much still like that. As a United fan, we shouldn't get stuck into thinking football is just Premier League.
It has been said, 'time heals all wounds.' I do not agree. The wounds remain. In time, the mind, protecting its sanity, covers them with scar tissue and the pain lessens. But it is never gone.
i wonder every year on this day, if that disaster wouldn't have happened, how many more European cups we would have won? the munich air disaster has made us the strongest club mentally on the planet, but the admirable thing is that we will always, always go again, no matter what happens we will always go again, when i watched this video it brought a tear to my eye, how such a talented group of players could be taken away from us in an instant, we will never forget the busby babes, WE GO AGAIN!!!! ggmu
Can someone answer a question - was Bobby Charlton on that plane as well but he recovered or i know wrong? I just read English football history book and read about this tragedy and i think if SBC was there as well
If you look at one of the first few pictures, you'll see a man coty flag and a scarf. those arent to tell off the united fans. Its representing respect from the other side of manchester
If we can come back from this there is no fucking way that we cannot come back from this bad run.We may not win the league we may not qualify for champions league for some seasons but one day we will bounce back and shut all the haters we will win the league and will win everything there is because this is God's own club.

I have always had the upmost respect for this tragedy but have never though of it that way.. may they never be forgotten, rest in peace.
True that
True
Rivalries aside. Some things are more important than football. RIP busby babes ynwa
Respect
Respect m8, at least no banter on this vid.
My man, respect.
Sometimes respect is needed, and respect to you my friend!Refreshing to see bud!;)
Liverpool was a good friend to United after Munich, sending 5 players to us to continue our fixtures. Most people forget that.
United's flag is deepest red,
It shrouded all our Munich dead,
Before their limbs grew stiff and cold,
Their heart's blood dyed it's every fold.
Then raise United's banner high,
Beneath it's shade we'll live and die,
So keep the faith and never fear,
We'll keep the Red Flag flying here.
We'll never die, we'll never die,
We'll never die, we'll never die,
We'll keep the Red flag flying high,
Because Man United will never die.
Somethings are more important than football, never forgotten, rest in peace. ynwa

It is VERY sad and PATHETIC that some people are disliking this video, GET A FUCKING LIFE!
pathetic liverpool and arsenal fans(those seem to be the guys that visit this channel most)
Ashton Smith ????????

They are a small club with 0 history. All they have to "mock" us with is Munich.
One of their own passed away that day, Frank Swift. Only those with no knowledge of the tragedy mock it.
One of their own ex-players who was a journalist at the time died on that plane, Frank Swift was his name and had over 300 apps for City. No True City fan would ever mock what happened in Munich

honestly shut up

Fantastic video, mates!
Imagine it. All our favourite United players gone. All at once. Rojo, Januzaj, Rooney, De Gea, Giggs. Must've been like that for fans back then
It was very different mate, these were normal guys who were part of the community. Football today isn't like that.
Too right. This was a time when players were construction workers, butchers at the local meat shop, firemen, police officers and during the evenings and a Saturday afternoon they were footballers. You could go to a meat shop to purchase your goods and it would be prepared by a man who plays for United then you'd go cheer him on as he scores.

Ashtopher Yeah, but the teams drawing huge crowds back then were more like the lower league players nowadays personality-wise.
It has been said, 'time heals all wounds.' I do not agree. The wounds remain. In time, the mind, protecting its sanity, covers them with scar tissue and the pain lessens. But it is never gone.

Very emotional video, thanks for that!! On a side note, does anybody know which bar is that? Looks cool and would be nice to visit it one day! Cheers
Really good video guys. :)
There just isn't another club like United. RIP Busby Babes

Find it terrible that people are so disrespectful to dislike this video.
For people that doesnt know much about what really happened and want to know: Watch the movie "United".
I heard it's a poor depiction.
It great
Really? Might give it a watch tonight then
"WE' LL NEVER DIE"
United Will Never Die...
R.I.P Busby babes

To the Liverpool fans on here that have respected this video!!Respect!!:)
Awesome video, just the sad music wasnt really necessary. No music at all would make the video even better. Good work anyway. We want more !
Glad you enjoyed it Master of Edits. Tried it without music, didn't work. Soz.
Rip busby babes
Were man utd we never die! :(
Why is the background so noisy. Kills the vibe maaan
Because we have a very very small budget and we couldn't hire out a pub.
Watch the movie UNITED its brilliant
