He pretends the different parts don't remember they're the whole. The jigsaw pieces slowly come back together as they wake up and the jig is up. Then the one mind creates a new jigsaw puzzle.

I am not agreeing with the theory for the record, but looking "super" realistic is not an issue since our intuition of realism is an evolution train in our mind, for example people being born in a Minecraft world will tell you their world is real as sh#t.
It’s the pinnacle of anthropocentrism to contemplate being in a simulation. Because we can think, we must be so important that all life and all of the universe was created around us. 🙄
Who said we alone are part of this simulation? All of the universe, all galaxies within it, are the simulation. I had a discussion with a very religious man who believed "God" was simply the program designer for this universe, and may be running multiple such simulations, watching all the alien races, what worked in evolution, what did not, which planets could be used for different sorts of corporeal and incorporeal races, etc. In his mind, this still made the designer all-powerful and a being to be respected and feared, if only for the advanced technology and intelligence it takes to create a whole universe with sentient lifeforms, and the fact that the being running the program could reboot the whole thing if it doesn't please them.
@@rhov-anion Of course the implication is that we are part of the simulation otherwise there would be no discussion about it. The notion that the universe was "designed" by a superior being is likewise anthropocentric. So then who "designed" "God," or whatever name one chooses to give this designer? We are a blip in the greater timespan of the universe, soon to kill ourselves off, eventually to have our sun die, and very likely one of billions of mildly interesting planetary infestations. This universe was definitely not designed for us, that's laughable, especially given that humans are barely evolved enough to exist on Earth at all. If we were perfectly designed, there would be no skin cancer if we're out in the sun too long, and we wouldn't drown in our own oceans. We're a freakish species that won't last long. Purely evolutionarily speaking, if this is a simulation, we're rather a pathetic failure. Now, personally, I don't believe in the simulation theory. @shaking like tremolo it's a hypothesis, a "reasonable prediction" that, in this case, relies on statistics. That's how science progresses: hypothesis, theory, law.
@shaking like tremolo As I said, it's based on statistics. If you have high mathematical probabilities to prove your hypothesis, then you gather evidence to work out a theory. If you have enough conclusive evidence in your theory, you write out a law. Dude, this is 7th grade science. A hypothesis is simply the first step in scientific discussion. One does not need facts to propose their hypothesis, but they do need high probabilities of it being true. If they had FACTS, it would be a law.
Even if we're in a simulation (which sounds likely), still live your life with purpose. A. There's a chance we're in the "real" universe. B. The simulation is so real that who cares?
Oh, Neil, you just broke my brain right before bed! I’m going to be up for hours. NDT should come with a warning:: do not watch unless you have 8 hours to burn afterwards for pondering and researching.
Jillian M Don’t worry. There are solid arguments against this hypothesis. For instance, why would any alien spend their time building a universe and could any computer of any kind actually sustain that, and if it were a future humankind running a simulation, again, why bother creating a simulation of your then ancient ancestors, not to mention the moral implications that might prevent someone from doing so. Then there’s the concept of dreaming and what really makes up our conscience thought, our ability to change our habits... there’s just a ton of reasons why we are not a simulation.
@@samuraigundam0079 This argument is funny and I can't tell if it's serious. You have taken earth's values and capabilities as your basis for characterizing what some possible being outside the universe can or cannot do. If there are other universes, there is the possibility that the idea of time and the laws of physics (as we know them) only apply to this universe. The problem is, in order for a computer to have the memory to store the data for every particle in another simulated universe, let alone program it and have the processing speed to run it, the universe that computer is in must much larger than the one it is simulating? Even if it is not a 1 to 1 ratio because of some sort of data compression, it would have to be gigantic, and that's for every layer, and the topmost "real" universe has to run all of them going all the way down. It's a simulation not every particle would be represented, SIMULATION implies approximation not total replication. And every layer of nested universes need not be as complex as the one above it. At one point the nested universes can become 2 dimensional and still work in this scenario. The main thing required is illusion of free will.
